That’s a nifty fix you came up with for them messing up the key cut! I’ve done this same process before and when I got mine cut they asked if they should line the tip up or base and went with the base. Thankfully for me that was the right answer. Good watch out for anyone else getting theirs cut.
Yet another extremely useful video for the T1N community generally and me specifically! Thanks!!
Thanks! Now I at least have a spare key and chip.
Dam this is so useful, I already bought one and I'm going to do all my vehicles and and put a clone somewhere hidden on the body incase I lose my main key or if I want to leave my main key on the it and take a clone. Thank you ;.;
This video is now relevant to my interests! :D
I paid $55 at the dealer for this hose extension and it had MB logos and "made in Germany" written on it in gold. hahahaha
It took me 6 months to figure out how to lock all 5 doors of my T1N. They lock and then unlock and the slider never locks unless you do it manually. The trick is to lock from the front door twice and manually lock the slider, this is the only way to have all 5 doors lock..... Next problem was that I didn't have a second key. I got a quote from a locksmith for $900 to make one copy. Now I need you to come over and make me a copy. Thanks for sharing.
What you describe with locking the doors twice is a classic case of sliding door not reporting "locked" to the central locking module. The wires inside the doors break off of the switch contacts, sometimes it is just a dirty or misaligned switch. Or it might be fixable with the method shown in our other video 2002-2006 T1N Sprinter Slider Door Repair "The Holy Grail of Sliding Doors".
@@FloridaVanMan Well, my back door has contacts that don't always contact. When my van won't lock immediately, I have to fiddle with the back contacts, seating them a bit better, then the key will lock all the locks. Check the back door contacts.
good stuff and people from FLA
I've been thinking about getting a Zed Bull for a while, so it doesn't need to interface with a PC or laptop at all when using ? Just sit a working transponder in the hot spot press R (for read), put an unprogrammed key in press W (for write) and it will program the key ? Also you don't need to download software for the Zed Bull prior to using ?
Correct. It works right out of the box and has easy to follow instructions, step by step on the little screen.
Nice @@FloridaVanMan since I already have a small ilco cutter I'm gonna go for it ! Thanks.
Thanks for the video. Much appreciated and needed. Will any of these key programmers of the same brand work for my T1n key? Amazon is out of the one you have linked.
Yes, Zed-Bull is the key word(s) to search. amzn.to/3U7auk1
without the chip cloned, does the key still turn in the ignition, just not start the vehicle? Thats what I'm used to from toyotas, but I've had a non-chipped key cut for my (first) sprinter and it opens all the doors fine, but wont even turn in the ignition.
In a Sprinter the key will turn but starter does nothing. Dash will display "Start Error".
Anyone know how to copy a Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2014 key? Id 80e7a28f Type 46 crypt Philips?
Very informative video, thanks! Unfortunately the Zedbull and the keyblanks appear to be out of stock. Are there alternate sources that you might recommend?
Yes, the links expire and we cannot keep-up with them. There is one seller on eBay that has good strong keys. www.ebay.com/itm/124229142845?epid=1922166567&hash=item1ceca2493d:g:MJgAAOSwM0Jh036u
And the ZedBull can be gotten here: amzn.to/3ME6e4F
Somewhat related question. My key broke in the ignition of my 03 T1N. I was able to get the bit out and got a new key but it looks like I damaged the tumbler in the process. So I orded a new tumbler but have no idea how to get the broken one out of the assembly.
Any tips or ideas?
That's a tough one. The bolts that hold the ignition switch are filled with solder to prevent thieves from swapping the switch easily. I think you'll need to remove that switch to replace the tumbler assembly.
@@FloridaVanMan Yeah, I think I'm at the point where I either drill out the tumbler or swap the whole assembly.
Do you have a link for the switchblade type housing for a 2005 sprinter.. my key works fine my housing is broken. And is it possible to switch all my old parts into it? Thanks
It is very possible, and not that hard to swap the guts. eBay has the fobs. Sorry, no links since eBy booted us from the program.
@@FloridaVanMan ok thanks for the info. Great work your doing with the vids and info..

Sorry, I have no experience with abs modules or wheel speed sensors... so far.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Was this just plug and play or did you have to setup and program the machine. I got a valet key from the dealer and I am having the same issues. I have an original key I can copy.
Plug and play. The ZedBull comes with a disk and a USB cable but we don't need it for our van keys. It will work right out of the box. Follow on screen instructions.
I had 2 keys, worked fine. One broke, just had a copy made at a key shop with microchip, tested it, engine started then cut off and said start error... now I can not start the engine at all. Even with the original key. I can not find a solution anywhere. Any ideas? Can I reset the immobiliser? Guessing the key shop programmed it wrong.
Your van glitched. Unplug the battery for 5 minutes then use the old key to start. Once started again you can try the new key. Might be wise to reprogram the new key first. Programming is easy and takes 10-15 seconds when done properly.
@@FloridaVanMan thanks. I tried this and no luck. Ended up being transported to a garage. They've diagnosed that the starter motor is broken. Put the van on a decline and jump started it no problem. Getting new starter motor tomorrow and will fit it myself. Let's see. Just very strange it broke on the first attempt with a new key.
@@LukeGreenheart Start Error displayed on the dash has nothing to do with the starter. That error only displays when the key transponder does not communicate successfully with the SKREEM unit behind the speedometer.
@@FloridaVanMan Can you recommend a resource where I can or share how to reprogram a new key. I recently got a new key copy from Mercedes Benz. Ordered via my VIN #, problem is when tried starting my van with new key I got a "Start Error". Tried the old original key and same message. Waited a bit then the old key was able to start the van again with no error message. Cheers
@@triple8s A new key from a dealership should have come programmed and we cannot reprogram its T12 chip. Any aftermarket key will have a programmable T5 chip. You can cut the T12 chip out of that key and replace it with a programable T5 chip, but that won't be pretty. There is one seller on eBay that has good quality key blanks. Join our Patreon membership for one-on-one assistance sorting this out.
Lately I have had issues starting my 06 sprinter. She will turn over but just won’t start. No codes showing up. Today I just realized if I wiggle the key while trying to start she starts. My key is showing signs of wear. Would a worn out key be a no start issue with her. I do have a new key but no way to program it
If it turns the engine and does not start, the key is doing it's part. It is possible the switch behind the key is wearing out. Wiggling the key would wiggle the switch and might explain what you describe. But the key simply answers two yes/no questions: If the cut metal allows the key to actually turn in the lock, and if the chip is authorizing the ECM to start-enable. When the starter starts to spin we know both of those questions are answered "Yes". I have a spare switch here in my garage. If you send me an email Bill@FloridaVanMan.com I will test how the switch works and verify the wiggle possibility. The switch has 4 positions, off, aux, on, start. I can verify if "on" should remain hot when the key is at "start". I suspect it should, as this would power the ECM while the "start" position turns the motor. It is possible the "start" position also powers the ECM, and that would suggest your starting concern is not in the key or switch. But I am not sure until I test the switch.
@@FloridaVanMan any luck with the test. Today the van started a couple time and left me stranded on the third stop again. One thing I have noticed now is the new key that dodge got me that isn’t programmed yet use to fit in ignition and turn but now it won’t even slide into ignition
@@ExclusiveK9Alberta Yes, the "ON" circuit in the switch definitely should remain hot while the key is turned past "ON" to "Start". Please check your email for full write-up and photos I sent Tuesday morning.
Will this work on my 2007 Dodge Sprinter too? I heard Sprinters are different that were made after 2007.
I have heard mixed reports. The key for a 2007 Sprinter is very different but I am told the ZedBull still works on the different key.
@@FloridaVanMan I just bought Zed Bull and 2 blank keys and the keys are still on the way. We'll see how it goes!
I have a different problem. Changed my ignition lock but now I only have 1 key. So i had a spare made at the hardware store. Problem is the spare key turns fine but wants to jam on something as your taking it out. Original key does not have this problem only the new spare from the hardware store wants to jam up.
The tolerance is so tight on keys, it is easy to be a hair off and everything still work... but with quirks. Before you lose the good key I would have another spare made and set the jam-key aside for emergency.
@@FloridaVanMan ..what blank do you suggest for a 1998 honda crv ? The one they used at the hardware store was a hon58 RDP
@@ancientdiscoverys I'm a Van-Man. I don't know anything about Honda CRV.
Hi! I’m having trouble with the T1N Thing shirt link (me and tech...)!!
What's the trouble?
Just fixed it!!! Please try again it appears as though the full link was not copied.
What happens if you loose the original key
I can help you find a guy who can read the computer in your van. SOS Diagnosis in Oregon is one but there are others. It requires sending your ECM to them and costs a few hundred.
@@FloridaVanMan I stopped by the Mercedes dealer today gave them my last 8 vin# & they were able to get me the metal blade key witch came up to $77 comes in tomorrow but I’ll definitely be making a duplicate like you just did. Thanks!
I own a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire the same thing happened to me on one of my 2 keys and my 1rst key exploded and I found all parts but the transponder chip no locksmith will touch this I have one key left and I need a couple extra transponder chips so I have a back ups. No Mercedes of Chrysler dealership will touch this bastard car no help at all so I glued the last transponder chip to the ignition antenna and now the remote will not work I am afraid if I loose the last key. I need a cheap fix for a 16 yr old car with 147,000 miles on it. Any ideas i bought 8 used keys none of them will work . I can't be reprogram to my car HELP !!!!
Link in the video description to the ZedBull programmer and these key blanks should do the job. amzn.to/3ihSHRX Have them cut at local hardware or auto parts store, then copy your chip to these keys with the ZedBull. This chip has nothing to do with the door locks, so if your fob doesn't work the locks, that is an entirely separate issue with the printed circuit board and batteries in the fob.
why don’t you program remotes?)
this is not only a dealer option
Programming for unlocking the doors is seen as a dealer only option here in USA. From what I understand the key is not programmed. The van is programmed to accept the key's signature. If you are able to clone a working key fob I would very much like to learn your method.

Links no longer work.
Our links page is down now too. The links to key blanks are not the keys we want. All I found on Amazon are soft brass that bend and break. This is for the key programmer. amzn.to/3IuwcXZ
My key fell apart , where does the chip sit , I think I lost the chip, won't start now start error
Yep... Start Error is a chip problem. There is usually a white plastic clip stuck in the end of the fob near the key pivot. If this is your only key your options are limited. Unless you find that chip or a spare key you have 3 options, Bring proof of ownership to a good* dealership who will not gouge you. Some say it cost them $50, others say $450 & two weeks waiting for a key from Texas. Or you can send your key, ECM & SKREEM to SOSdiagnositics dot com, or same parts to Austin, 417locksmiths dot com.
Ok thanks, yeah I can't find the chip, I just need a basic key made, and programed
@@arminislamovic232 Copying a chipped key is easy if you have one to copy. But if you don't have a spare key and can't find the chip that fell out, I'm sorry to tell you that your options are very limited. There are other locksmiths that can do it, but not many.
Can sos diagnosis do ot
@@arminislamovic232 If "ot" is off-road tuning, no. I'm pretty sure they won't do that.
Do you seel keys
No, but I buy them from this eBay seller because what they offer are better quality alloy, harder to break in the locks. www.ebay.com/usr/sevastopol-423?_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2559
Are there any newer programmers you would recommend? The one you have a link to is unavailable. They have the same ones on Amazon now but they all have two stars
