- Going back to the Hinderers to conquer the thumbstuds... TLDR- it's mostly about where the rest of your hand is during deployment.

I have a hinderer 3.5” gen 4. Originally I could only use the flipper tab because the detent was too strong. I had to take my knife apart and adjust the lock bar by bending it slightly to soften the detent. Now I can thumb flick my knife open (finger position is very important because if any finger is pressing on the lock bar the knife won’t open while using the thumb stud). The only thing is the flipper tab isn’t as strong, so I use a little wrist flick to assist while using the flipper tab now. After a couple more weeks (after breaking in my knife more) I hope to be able to reverse flick my knife open. Time will tell.
I have the non-flipper XM-18 Tri-way and it is the only brand of knife I can middle finger and thumb flick. I think the detents are setup differently than the flipper models are.
Recurves are awesome. I’m a huge Hinderer fan and there is a learning curve for deploying. If you’re a Demko fan, other than deployment (obviously), there is a lot of similarities to their build style.
Love that, agreed!
@@pocketpriorities also, adding titanium scale will help your love haha. It changes things.
@@Geishauser Yes! Trying to find one :)
Dude, I just got mine an hour ago , can't use the thumb , just the flipper and "Spyder Flip" but not the standard opening 😢 help
@@jkn2k yeah, same happened to me, turned out I was just putting pressure on the lockbar with my fingers. Unfortunately the Hinderers are VERY sensitive to lockbar pressure. Try making sure you are gripping the handle and it should fly out brilliantly. Good luck!
I hear you on that, I had to really practice deploying them as well. I remember with my Spyderco knives too I had re-grip the way i held them before I can properly Spydie flick. Seen you on swap! When u going sell us some of those demko’s 😂
I have a few if interested :) Feel free to email me at the same name at Gmail to let me know what you are looking for :P
