I think demand will soften after fall 2025 or 2026. I know a lot of people are pulling back and have cancelled some trips until prices are in control. My sister just cancelled Icon sailing and said she would rather wait couple of years until things are more "normal".
1. If you go with a travel group of people, those cruises tend to be cheaper. Travel agencies have set events/dates. 2. If you go to private islands, the juice and food is included. Often if your on a private island there is excursions to further visit the country. 3. If you are looking for lower prices, go have some fun in the ship's casino. I have spent quite a bit of money but for what I've been comped, the cruise is much cheaper. Each time I book a cruise, it's about $500 dollars for two people. I don't pay absurd prices. Perhaps I get ripped off by the casino, but they use my money plus additional money to write off a lot of the cruise costs.
Yet if you look at the average balcony room for a 5-7 Caribbean cruise Royal is still the cheapest. These megaships were expensive to build and people are tripping over themselves to book them. Market conditions apply here, if you don't want a floating Waterpark book older and smaller ships. Your complaint also ignores the large amount of high-end cruise lines that are booking at capacity.
I just subscribed because you kept it 100 % real ..I’m new to cruising, Feb 12 was my very first cruise in allure and I loved it ..I did plenty research and I’m still researching…what I’m seeing is a lot of cruise vlogger straddling the fence…I get the pr side of things and possibly brand partnerships ….however who’s gonna say enough is enough with those prices …Utopia makes no sense if I couldn’t explore allure in 5 days Mega ships like that only makes sense if you want to brag u sailed on the latest only to end up docked in Nassau next to everyone else …I started on Royal however I’m definitely side eyeing them ..and. PS Guys over Jonny Rockets and day ..in fact Johnny rockets need to be free.
Thanks for subscribing! We just try to keep it real and share our honest thoughts. It’s crazy how they really charge for certain things like Johnny Rockets but man those are some good burgers.
We are booked for our first RC cruise on utopia, just to experience RC. We are planning to stick with Carnival for future cruises. If the prices rise, then we will do more land based vacations. Our loyalty is to ourselves, no particular company needs to be involved. We only allow so much manipulation before we will "cut ties" and move on. No need to stress over vacation lol.
Just to provide some perspective on 2 person 7-Night sailings. Disney thinks their brand and ship experience plus service quality equates to charging $3,389 for an Ocean view room per traveler for 2 people June 1-8 2024. Icon of the Seas with a similar itinerary is charging $2,196 per person for 2 people for an Ocean View during the exact same dates. Disney goes out of Port Canaveral and Icon out of Miami but both hit Carribean islands including a private island. I would argue that Icon is a superior ship compared to the Fantasy in terms of options available yet Icon is substantially less expensive. Disney's cost works out to $484 per night and RCCL to $313 per person. By comparison a comparable All Inclusive Resort to RCCL Icon in Cancun (Because that is the closest I have been to quality wise) for the same dates works out to $2,177 per person. You will always have the option to go on cheaper cruises or Lesser quality All Inclusive Resorts to save money. RCCL just wants to come out with a premium product and charge a premium price point. They still have a ways to go even on their flagship to catch up with Disney Brand value.
It definitely depends on what you’re looking for, in the video I meant Disney as in the parks not the cruise line. Disney Cruise line is definitely premium when it comes to service and food quality compared to RCL.
Bottom line for me is if I can afford it I’ll go. If not I won’t. I will never put a vacation on credit. My wife and I took a week long vacation at home one time. All we did was rest and planned special meals each night. We had a wonderful time together and loved the vacation. Be just as happy staying at home as we would going on a cruise. As long as we’re away from work and spending time together, we’re happy. If the cruise industry wants to start losing customers so their profits can go sky high, so be it. I’ll stay home.
Now the only difference between Royal and staying at a Sandals in the Caribbean is the food is worse at the buffet on a cruise ship now. Never in my life would I have thought that staying at a hotel was a better value than being on a cruise ship
We stayed at Club Med in Florida for 5 days while cruising was shut down, all inclusive including alcohol; plus an adults only pool area. We had a great time.
If people couldn't afford it the ships wouldn't be filled. Bottom line is people will choose what they can afford. You can still get very reasonable prices on RCL's other ships. We always find a reasonable vacation on RCL.
What you do is shell out $10,000 to the casino and play those slots. And say you get 10,000 points. Well you will get a couple of comp offers. That's how you do it. Then each cruise I book is $500 assuming that I'm not upgrading. I typically get balcony or junior suites. I did get a few offers for Utopia but I'm not much of a fan of 3 or 4 day cruises. I prefer week long cruises. But to make more money and prices more they are offering more of their newer ships to do half a week cruises. If you do a 3 or 4 day you are either going to Nassau, Cococay etc. For me I been to both places enough.
I priced a 3 night Utopia journey in a Balcony and the price was $3,700 which was ridiculous! And comparing the selves to Disney is stupid as F. You can do a disney trip fairly “cheapley” if you know what you are doing. I can go to Europe for a week With Airfare for $1,900
@@BoatBreakersNJ and the Utopia is only going to theirnPrivate Island where they will further hose you. The $3,700 doesn't include their mandatory geatuities, drinks, "special dining", etc. So them saying they are cheap than Disney is a flat out lie. Last I checked Disney provides "free" entertainment as well. Only thing Disney isn't providing is food.
Kinda why I’ve stopped doing 7 day cruises. That money can be spent on much better trips. Yea I could always book an interior cabin for cheaper, but even those are way over priced. Just not worth it compared to what else is out there
In truth, the cruise companies may be able to charge whatever they want, but there is an upper limit to what people can and/or will pay. I have friends who spent less on a 2 week vacation to Japan than they would spend for a 5-7 day cruise on any of these fancy new ships. At the end of the day, I personally price out each experience I am considering and find the most cost effective ways to achieve them.
I disagree - it's still affordable on the older ships - even Oasis class. If they can get people to shell out $4,000 for a week on Icon - more power to them. But I'll save some money booking older ships.
You got to understand that they cater for the American clientele now. It’s just about recreational activities similar to Walt Disney. People here are mostly in visual, and other sensory activities, mostly sports too and unmeasured eating. The cultural aspect that nourishes your understanding and knowledge of history is not the main objective. People here also pay an arm & leg just for fun and entertainment like Disney. Don’t worry there will always be great cruise companies that offer not only entertainment but not forgetting the cultural & historical growth. I really don’t do this company as it’s covering mostly the “fun & entertainment part. It’s ok for one week cruises to rest & decompress but it’s unmeasured greedy crazy marketing market is for those who pay double for entertainment not interested in the other aspects of traveling.
I agree, pay double! Like many others in this comment section, cruising just hasn't been the same! I fear cruises keeps pushing this direction, we are all doomed.
Those prices are crazy! RC will price themselves out and have to drop the prices. I know Carnival is going up too but not that crazy. Well you know I’m on a budget so Buyers Unite, I won’t be buying from them. Kyle Have fun moving!! Is this getting close to the knot tying?
@@BoatBreakersNJ I realize I forgot to write what I was going to say earlier that I agree with you - the whole point of cruising is trying out different places . No I don’t want to just go to Nassau to their private area that they’re building or CoCoa Cay. I’m going there in November on our 3 nt Celebrity cruise but if I paid $3000 I wouldn’t just want to be going there to give them more money!
@JoJo-RDH someone said that the food and drinks are free but coco cay you still pay for the water park and all the additional private areas they added! Always trying to get more…
I think Royal is just pushing people into the arms of MSC and giving an opening to Carnival and Margaritaville has a new ship and may be able to snag a few more people - Apparently, they've managed to hire cruise directors away from other cruise lines . Royal with Royal prices indeed.
Hey this is my first time watching your channel, I hear what you are saying, but each and every other island is having problems, and if you travel abroad you are getting robbed. Yes we have planned a cruise with Royal Caribbean, and hopefully we will have a great time, and with pricing getting so expensive we are thinking about other options and just to let you know hotel cost of hotels are sky high right now also and I'm not even talking five stars 😀 and other thing other cruise lines are raising their prices too.
Hey first of all thanks for commenting welcome to the channel! I’ve never personally had a problem off the ship but have heard horror stories about getting robbed. Hotels are indeed getting crazy we paid $350 for a terribleeee motel the day before our cruise in Fort Lauderdale.
Cruising is just not like it used to be. No more cruising for me. But if I ever start again I will stick with Carnival until thier prices go up. I don't like the Mega ships, so I will stick with the smallest ship I can find, Until then I will be RVing or rent a boat. I live just a few hours from Mexico so I will drive there and save money.
NOT loyal to ANY cruise line!! Honestly with Royal charging as much as they are is in line with Disney and Universal!! ….what’s CrAzY even with the high prices cruising is still affordable!! I paid $2,300 for 3 adults to attend Halloween Horror nights last year…for JUST one night!! I’m booked on Utopia’s inaugural July 19th, 2024 sailing in a balcony cabin and I’m also booked on Utopia for my Birthday weekend October 25th, 2024 and waiting to book Star of the Seas for June, 2026!! Royal take my money!! Our family isn’t rich by ANY MEANS but planning way in advance and paying it off before we sail let’s me continue to book more expensive cruises by budgeting!!
That’s a good point, I think the days of last minute cruise deals are gone especially with Royal. I’m just hoping when they introduce the new smaller class of ships the prices are more reasonable.
I think MSC may give RC a run fir their $.. The only thing i think royal beats others is the shows..not the food..or service. Mega ships awful monstrosities 😢 good luck to Pete on utopia & kyle w his move😊..
Thanks to Biden’s inflation. We’ve sailed on RC 17 times. Do we pay the higher prices, NO. We book ships with 7 day itineraries in the Caribbean for around $1,000/person. We did book a balcony on Icon, 18 months in advance for $1,400/person. I would sail RCCL before I would cruise any other line.
You're such a "victim". You say you know supply and demand, but you clearly have no idea what that is. No one is playing a victim I’m literally saying stop demanding new ships at these sky high prices. All inflation is high right now while corporate profits are as well, it’s quite literally corporate greed. Have a nice day
