You are an artist, I was not motivated to fix. your work showed me the only possible way..and finally it's a simple collage for me. thank you
I've done a successful job on my bose speakers too. To simplify the process I simply use lighter fluid to loosen the contacts of the alum. cover & applied mild-hammering using plastic chisel. I did not remove any wirings from the speaker but simply removed & cleaned the brittled speaker rubber rings/edge. Use rubber glue & order online the needed speaker edge. It's important to order the exact size...no more no less. DIY is now the trend to save money from expensive dealer repair service.
How did he get the grills off without damage? Most important part of the video.
Most videos I have watched destroy/damage the cover. It's glued in with tabs that make clean extraction very difficult!
where you buy ring rubber speaker
the grates are easy to remove. Take a hair dryer and go slow along the edges for about 5 min. Then take a paint removing tool and sticking it between the grate and the plastic body slightly apply some power. You will see the grate starts to move up. Keep the same level while going along the edges of the grates. Depends of the level of the damage to the speakers no need to remove the whole thing. I've had some cracks and just used a small umbrella's fabric to glue that from the inner part. The quality of the sound stays the same

Hi , what type of Adhesives did you use and how did you remove the grill.
well i attempted this with my companion 2s. the volume nob started messing up. so i took it apart . well a completely destroyed it. i couldn't believe how hard it was to take it apart . anyway i've had the left one lying around . i found the right one for sale got it for 5 bucks. i took all the electronics out of my original one along with the like new speaker. the one i purchased for 5 bucks is blown speaker cackles. i have it apart with very little damage this time... now i have to search for the spare speaker ... have no clue were it is lol ... your video help me this time...ty

I have these speakers in my bedroom, they haven't moved since I bought them 7 years ago. They still work fine. What causes the ring around the speaker to mess up like that? I've seen like 5 videos on UA-cam of people fixing them.
Due to being not in use for a long time, it was hard, when it was activated again it broke down
How old were these speakers when repaired? This should not happen for at least 10 years, and arguably should never happen with modern materials such as using butyl surrounds.
This 2.5 inch speaker on Amazon seems like a good replacement, but I have not measured to confirm: "Dayton Audio CE Series CE65W-8 2-1/2" Shielded Extended Range Driver 8 Ohms".

@@bakhtiarindra You're correct, its a 2.5 inch full range driver. My foam was also broken down, I opted to replace the entire speaker with 2.5 inch full range drivers from amazon. It was about $25 for the pair and the sound quality is equal, if not better, than the Bose speakers replaced.
