Awesome! I'm actually pretty inspired by Scott's skill at 64 yo. Makes me happy to think I can potentially keep riding for years to come, as I started mtb'ing kinda late
Cool to hear Scot talk about California "fire ecology", as a forester from the east coast I enjoy when fire, forestry, and biking/recreation collide. Fire plays a major role in how many forests across the country rejuvenate. Some species require fire to open the cones and release seed to establish the next cohort of trees. Ride on boys!
What a nice surprise! I got to work for Scot for 5 years back in the day, brought back lots of fond memories of riding with him and trying to keep up on some of those same trails. Glad to see he's still ripping it up and fast as ever! Nothing rides quite like an Ibis.
wow that was such a cool video learning about the history of Ibis. Scot Nicol is such an inspiration. That was such a cool little cafe near the trail. I need to convince my wife to letting me install those bike hangers at my restaurant!
I love when I see these pioneers of Mountain Biking on a bike to this day just ripping up the trail its awesome that he still has the older bikes too especially the cruiser. Its also great that he is still with Ibis still too and appreciates where the sport came from to where it is today. Great Video
Just saw this and it feels good seeing someone around my age, well 4 years my senior, still riding the trails, ripping it and having great fun. Truly inspiring. Now I know who my mountain bike hero is. Thanks for taking us along, Brian!
Thanks for stopping to chat with me for a bit while out on this ride! It was awesome to met Alex and talk to Scot again. This video was great -loved hearing Scot's story and seeing everyone enjoy Annadel for the day. As always, keep up the good work dude!
Hey guys - big fan from the UK - finally got to see you riding somewhere I've ridden! And eaten! HUGE props to you both, and to the guys who so kindly showed me around Annadel last time I was there. So great to see that the trails and park are recovering.
Redemption CA nailed it...!!!!!! I think its fair to say in honor of you guys and your chemistry together with the laughs and insight you give to the MTB community you should be included in the list of famous great duos ... BKXC and STS Laurel and Hardy Mario and Luigi Scooby Doo and Shaggy Simon and Garfunkel Abbott and Costello Starsky and Hutch Batman & Robin Bert & Ernie Cheers to you both and congrats on a fine series ..!!!!
I've always loved Ibis bikes. Now, after listening to Scott and his love for history and genuine excitement for people enjoying the outdoors....I love Ibis even. Brian, thanks for editing the cool instider history into today's adventure.
I love to see the history of how mountain bikes have evolved over the last 50+ years. So cool, and the see the man behind a lot of the innovation is AWESOME!
So cool! I know very little about mountain biking but heard many of those names when I tried getting into it the first time around in the late 90s. I thought I was too old to get back into it at 49 but once again you guys have inspired me by showing me one of the founding fathers still getting out there - and giving you whipper snappers a run for your money!
Wow! That was cool to get a bit of history behind the sport. 64 and still ripping it, makes me hopeful and smile that I would be blessed to have so many more years of riding. Thank you 🤙
It is so cool that you can meet the maker of your bike, that just blows me away. Then you go for a terrific ride with him, how cool is that. Great video, great ride & awesome content. Be careful and stay safe.
Scot seems like an amazing dude. I am seriously considering an Ibis for my next bike. This Redeption CA colab has been awesome. STS and BKXC, you guys bring something different to the table and it makes these videos very fun to watch. There has to be another colab soon! Keep up the good work.
What a great video. I love to watch you guys ride, but this was something special beyond that. I'm sure that what we learned was only a fraction of what he spoke of. You guys are very fortunate to have that. And not to keep going on, but it gives me hope to still be shredding with my little guy at that age.
Scott sounds so cool and down to earth.......makes me even more proud to rock my Mojo SL. Once again Brian you have the perfect combination of chat and riding. Keep up the good work.
Such informative video and so cool. So sad the redemption series is coming to the end it has been so much fun to watch, Thanks Brian, Thanks Alex for all your hard work, it has been much appreciated. I look forward and dread tomorrow’s video it going to be hard one to watch.
Great video. It's nice that you combined a small interview with Scot and a ride through the local trails. It's great to see that Scot remains a true MTB enthusiast and continue to make great bikes. It is interesting to observe the progress in the design of Ibis bikes from 2007 to the present, i.e. in the period when Ibis returned to the market in its current status.
Always cool to hear from someone who's been around the industry since the beginning. For myself, my boss for many years was the designer of the original Rocky Mountain Element, which is somewhat recent all things considered, and I always loved hearing about the design process and nuggets of mtb history.
Very cool! Got a Breezer Radar for Christmas and learned a lot about these guys in the process. It boggles the mind to think what the O.G.'s were doing back in the day...and what they were doing it on!
Dude this was like one your highlights of your youtube series, journaling w/ SST and one of the godfathers of MTB! Congrats BK! keep up the creative series to engage ur viewers!
We have tons of Ripmo's here in northwest Arkansas! I met Scot when he was in town at Outerbike. I had just demo'd the Ripmo, and I was gushing to a buddy about how much I loved it, it was the best bike I'd ridden, couldn't believe how well it jumped, how well it pedaled...and I paused, and Scot said, "No, keep going...keep going." I had NO IDEA who he was until Garrett Hubbard introduced me. He shared a few tidbits about the refinements and subtle nuances that had been done to the bike that gave it the characteristics that I loved about riding it. You could just feel the passion about the Ripmo, and cycling in general, in that brief conversation. It's SO COOL that you got to hang out and ride with him. FFWD a few months, and after waffling on "new bike or not this year" I pulled the trigger, and my RImpo is supposed to ship on April 15th!! Woooo Hooooo !!!!!
@@scotnicol .... Heck yeah man!! We have so many Mojo Cycling riders on Ibis now, that we should have an "Ibis Only" ride sometime during the event. That would be a gas! Heck...there's enough now to do a Ripmo only ride! :-) BTW...it was AWESOME to see you out there at 64 pulling away from those whipper snappers in places!! Motivation for sure! Take care Scot, and definitely see you October, but if you're in the area before then, let Dave at Mojo Cycling or me know, and we'll get a group ride together. Guaranteed good time, and lots of laughs!
So very cool! I owned an Ibis trials bike in the early 90's. 24" front wheel and 20" rear. I learned alot on that bike (mostly about bashing my shins)....
I grew up Sebastopol and went to Chico state but just started riding a few months ago. Live in Phoenix now but love being able to relate to everything that is being said! Love your videos man. Great content.
Ibis HD4 is the bike at the top of my list. Demoed one last year and absolutely loved it! That bike felt so good riding with my rheumatoid arthritis. If I had the money, I would have bought one that day. Never knew he lived there. I used to basically live right next to that guy. Wonder how many times I may have been crossing paths with him on trails and not know it. Cool he mentioned Gary Fisher. I did meet him and he signed my old Paragon. Still have that bike. I know what he means about trying to ride one of the old bikes. I can't ride them anymore.
Great, great, job y'all, I hate to hear this is coming to an end soon, but i'll definitely continue watching both channels. Riding with an icon of our wonderful sport, wow, how cool would that be........keep up the great job y'all are doing and keep the videos coming.
Very cool video! I grew up in Santa Rosa, right near Annadel and Spring Lake, but now live in the Sacramento area. My parents house survived the fire. I just bought a Ripmo about a month ago and love it. Did not realize Scot lived in SR. It was great hearing the history. Thanks Brian!!
Holy motherf..ing s..t ? This is so awesome! I mean being 65 years old and rideing a mountainbike like that, i can only dream of being in that shape when im that age. Never been on a Ibis, rideing a yeti 5.5 now ... and seeing this makes me think that ibis as a brand is really about rideing bikes and building bikes looking at the owner shredding like that! This put a smile on my face looking at this! Cool dude for sure!
It's good to see the Ibis history. The 90's Ibis would scare me to death now with bars that narrow. I put 24 inch bars on one bike and thought the bar was wide.
Man, I started out building up my bike in high school much like they did in the 70s because I couldn't afford more. The Mojo was one of the 'halo' bikes to aspire to at the time. Other priorities and sports pulled me away, but I find myself back in it 20+ years later. Thanks for the flashbacks.
wow man super cool. meeting a legend like him must have been like a kid in a free for all toy shop!!! cool vid awesome riding. thanks for the adventure!!
Super cool to meet such a special dude! I am gonna miss redemption... What am I gonna do now!? Oh wait - there's trails outside that need to be ridden.
Seeing those old bikes is groovy. I've been building up an original Santa Cruz Heckler (1996) and didn't quite realise what kind of advances they've made with drivetrains since then. Modern derailers are definitely a huge improvement over the floppy and loose Shimano-only offerings of yesteryear.
Brian glad to see you and Alex ride my mtb special spot.Sorry i wasn!t there to meet both of you oh well until next time.On the ibis bikes i remember when he started building them back in the 80/90!s they where very expensive. But i love my 97 klein attitude comp.Great Video,Ride Safe.🚴✌

Ditto !!!
I feel the same, he's fit - and a cool guy too. I bet they go hand in hand.
Me too! Just started last year I was 44!
lol same.
Epic video, I wish I could be out there with you guys.
Cool to hear Scot talk about California "fire ecology", as a forester from the east coast I enjoy when fire, forestry, and biking/recreation collide. Hey Erik, you helped us name the Moron tubing too! Hope all is good!
That's great!!
Yet again another epic ride.
However, it's a bit sad to hear that Redemption CA is coming to an end..... 😢🤘
Next stop: Redemption Ca: Canada Edition, Redemption AZ and Redemption NC hahaha
wow that was such a cool video learning about the history of Ibis. Scot Nicol is such an inspiration. That was such a cool little cafe near the trail. I need to convince my wife to letting me install those bike hangers at my restaurant!
What a cool dude! Living his dream of creating something for others to enjoy, and I guess he enjoys it a little too, gotta respect that!
Such a legend and true gentleman, He is the spirit of mtb,
Chuck is a national treasure! Cheers, great video!

as a history buff i was hanging on every word Scot spoke...such an AMAZING adventure and day for you all!!
One of the things I love about Ibis. If you email them about anything, Scot is the guy answering you.
I loved hearing about the history of the area around the trails. Great stuff all around! Scot is so great. Loving Ibis even more!
I have really enjoyed this collaboration Brian great videos, great craic and great riding. Thanks to you both
Just saw this and it feels good seeing someone around my age, well 4 years my senior, still riding the trails, ripping it and having great fun. Truly inspiring. Now I know who my mountain bike hero is. Thanks for taking us along, Brian!
Glad to hear that Roy!
Met chuck twice at sea otter. Led to some great conversation. Really down to earth guy that runs a great company.
Just picked up my Ripmo last week. It's amazing! I'm officially an Ibis fanboy.
Thanks for stopping to chat with me for a bit while out on this ride! It was awesome to met Alex and talk to Scot again. This video was great -loved hearing Scot's story and seeing everyone enjoy Annadel for the day. As always, keep up the good work dude!

Really like Redemption CA!!! Super COOL to be able to ride with a legend!! Love my Obis Mojo 3!!
Its amazing to see the passion of someone who builds something from the ground up! Excited and sad for the last of this little series, its been great!
Love this video of Scot and our beautiful backyard. Thanks Brian Kennedy!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s so awesome to see the company owner and know some history. Very humble person too. Salute

So cool you got to ride 1 on 2 with your favourite bike hero. One of the father's of modern MTB. So rad.
That was cool. On my third Ibis, building up a Ripmo.
Great video! The series has been fun. Scott seems to be pretty laid back and down to earth. Oh and an old guy ripper. You might call him an OGMTB.
What a great video. I love to watch you guys ride, but this was something special beyond that. I'm sure that what we learned was only a fraction of what he spoke of. That was awesome... Such respect for Scot and great to see the respect for the origins of Ibis bikes.
Total awesomeness !!! Scot is living proof mountain biking is healthy 😎 And proof this old man has a good 10 years left in the saddle...lol
Dude this was like one your highlights of your youtube series, journaling w/ SST and one of the godfathers of MTB! Congrats BK! keep up the creative series to engage ur viewers!

Great to hear from Mr Ibis and get some insight into the brand. Mark

This history lesson was great! Another great video of the CA tour! Sad it's coming to an end.
I test rode the Ripley LS, the elegance and sophistication of the eccentric pivot blew me away. If I could trust a plastic frame I'd be riding one.
The best edit of annadel state park so far.
Hope I’m continuing to ride well into my 60s. Good times.
