This is so great. I was born in 1977, so I grew up on these songs and knew almost all of them. So meny great songs, and also need to be mentioned all the great brits that dominated the charts back then. I am from Israel, it is quit amazing how no matter from where you lived on this planet, you knew these songs.
I can find plenty of music to love every decade, it’s just that sometimes the most popular isn’t the best. Most of the time the best stuff is on the fringes
This was senior year in high school through post grad work for me. I saw a lot off them live. From the songs provided, it was George Michael, Annie Lennox, and Pet Shop Boys at the top of my list.
1980 to 1989 times 12 is 120 songs. I was born in 1992, yet there were only 25 songs I don't know, so 95 songs that I do know. That says something about how big the 80's hits still are.
Here are some of my favorites. Rock With you, Smooth Criminal, and Billie Jean - Michael Jackson, Don't you Want me - The Human League, Karma Chameleon - Culture Club, Venus - Bananarama, When Doves Cry - Prince, Flashdance... What a Feeling - Irene Cara, Never Gonna Give You up - Rick Astley, Let's Dance - David Bowie, Hold on Tight - ELO, Tainted Love - Softcell, Everything She Does is Magic - The Police, Physical - Olivia Newton John, Maneater - Hall & Oates, 99 Luft Balloons - Nena, Sweet Dreams are made of this - Eurythmics, Say Say Say - Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, Like a Virgin and Into the Groove - Madonna, Shout - Tears for Fears, Amadeus - Falco, Straight up - Paula Abdul, I think We're Alone Now - Tiffany, and I Should be so Lucky - Kylie Minogue
Exactly I was about to say she just had another hit song with Popular with The Weekend which just went Platinum too. Literally the ONLY on this list who is charting in 2024 with NEW music
Sorry, I've only just seen this video. I really love the female Rockers. Bonnie Tyler, Kim Carnes, Belinda Carlisle, The Bangles, Susanna Hoffs, Tiffani, Paula Abdul (especially with the songs Straight Up & Opposites Attract), Alanis Morissette, Stevie Nicks, Alison Moyet...etc. They have stage appearance, fantastic vocals, beauty... the whole package. There is something that sets them apart from other singers, and you can go into a real deep rabbit hole tracking down all of their massive hits. That is why I am a big fan of Courtney Hadwin, her amazing vocal ability, the way when she does covers she makes them her own, and her stage presence. By the way, I also like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Billy Ocean, Lionel Richie, Mark Knopfler, Vangelis,...
Love your reaction to this video. I definitely had many of these songs on cassette tapes/records. My favorites are Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and A-Ha.👏👏🎶💕
Shappup ya face, we used to play that on the jukebox in mess hall (my parents in army) at 20c a play, $4 straight through every weekend, all the army guys knew to expect it from us kids, this was my fave song as a kid, Im a 73 baby, lol
My favorite songs from 80's are Desireless - Voyage Voyage,Ultravox - Lament,Roxy Music - Oh Yeah,The Cure - Forest,Kim Wilde - Cambodia and Jennifer Rush - Power of Love.
I have to thank gta vice city and the techno genre (Especially during 2007-2011, when I actively listened to it), for showing me so many 80s hits and opening the door to new kind of music. Notably after the UA-cam algorithm got a hold of my taste in music. Might be the reason why I'm unable to listen to modern stuff without feeling sick to my stomach 😛
Exactly this but I listened to hardcore and techno in the late 90s early 2000s loads of hardcore tunes were actually remixes of 80s songs then I bought GTA vice city 3 days before it's official release and slowly my music taste changed to 80s music. Also cannot bare the shit that's churned out for the past 20 years
Only 5 songs that I didn't know... I am getting old. But the 80s have still some of the best music and this would be a helluva playlist (though I would skip a few....). Would love to see this for 80s rock.
Great reaction. Maybe I'm in minority but I'm glad Madonna didn't retire. Her last two albums "Rebel Heart" (2015) and "Madame X" (2019) are really great.
I did not expect to get a perfect score, but i did! Also makes me think this is a European list because a few of the songs on there, i know didn't hit #1 in the USA. But man, that was a fun trip down memory lane for me, the 80's are literally my teen years. :) Thnx Highly!!
Your opinion is your own, but I dont really understand your assertion that Madonna should retire. Why would Madonna retire? She's an artist, and artists rarely retire. May she keep creating for as long as she's alive.
The 80's were the best of music! Roxette have a special thing just like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. Roxette have been twice to a concert, specially the first concert outside Amsterdam(all the way in Den Bosch) 1992 and later in 1994 in Ahoy (Rotterdam) Now i want to go to listen to some songs from the list😊
Joe Dolce: Whatsa matter you, gotta no respect, whaddya think you do, why you lookin' so sad, it's a not so bad, it's a nice-a place, ah shaddap ya face. shaddap = shut up
I think this is the English chart youre listening to, thats why you didnt recognise joe dolce's shadddap your face. It was a joke song that famously kept ultravox's vienna off the number 1 spot.
The 80's are my favorite decade in music.

It's so refreshing warching somebody from my age range reacting to this and remembering everything in real time.
Love to see you so happy Highly!
Woohoo back when music was actually music!!! Best years eva!! 😍😍
I agree with that👍👍👍
OMG !!! ALL SONGS SO GOOD!! Nostalgia !! Hello from Estonia !
Finally some original Abba versions in your channel.
Great music, I love the 80's and so sad to know two legends Tina Turner and George Michael past away 😥
I would love to see this of the 70's too. Really cool😁👍
I 2nd that he should definitely check out the other decades

A really great reaction, really enjoyed watching.

Born in 1992 as well and i believe that 1984 was best year ever in music. (At least pop)
Born in 1992 as well knew about 110 songs from the 80s
Awesome! Going to make a Spotify playlist of it. Perhaps there's already one, but I like the project :-)
Ok, if you do it, I won’t have to 😉 Will you post the link in the comments?
@@throughthewindowpane Will start tomorrow :-)

Age 5 to 15 were the eighties for me. This brought so many good memories for me!
I am 24 and I like the energy of the 80s, 90s . Today music is not that good, it all about some rappers. I like the flow of 80s music
This comment is so corny, dont insult hip hop music just because of this
This was a great music era. Makes me so happy. I'm from 1981, so these songs were on the radio all the time. Love it.
You literaly said what I was thinking. Including: I don't know that song... twice! 😂
Madonna is still charting and selling out tours? Why would she retire?
Should Bruce Springsteen retire, or U2? I wonder if he thinks that...
Exactly I was about to say she just had another hit song with Popular with The Weekend which just went Platinum too. Literally the ONLY on this list who is charting in 2024 with NEW music

Born in 87 but know and like almost every single one of them.
That should be a Spotify play-list ❤
I was 16 in 1980, know every song, 80s was by far the best 10 years in music, so many awesome songs.
you were born 1964 is that true
Mid 70s all the way to early 2000 are bangers
it's so incredible the quality of the music at this time compare to the music of todays

The 80s are epic !
When you know like 90% of the songs or at least can sing along with it in a sec for some i was i recognize it but idk form what
They also have 50’s 60’s 70’s 90’s 00’s
Based on what I still play regularly, A-Ha - Take on me and Eurythmics - Sweet dreams are my favourites. But I like so many of these songs…
Great musical decade!

i think its a American list
We do not need an american list
I did not expect the word "list" to cause any commotion lol

I was born march 1980...pink floyd was popular that month😊😊😊
Music has well and truly lost its identity since the 60s 70s and 80s
Not from the 80's .... But did you discover Dennis van Aarssen's brand new own single 'Lifeline' yet?
my teens years are back( yes im old LOL)
You ain't old. Class of 84
I think the song Alone by the band Heart can be in this video or These dreams to

HAHAHAHAHA 😂😂 2:16
stars on 45 is a netherlands product
Shaddap yo face? What the hell was going on then that made that a hit? It wasn't my fault because I was 2 years old.
Joe Dolce: Whatsa matter you, gotta no respect, whaddya think you do, why you lookin' so sad, it's a not so bad, it's a nice-a place, ah shaddap ya face. shaddap = shut up
please do a 70s reaction
Hi, Please add your suggestion to the googleform. You can find it under every video. Thanks
Tarzan Boy, Rich Girl, Ambrosia, Dirty Low Down, ......
I still know them all. I was a teenage girl then.
Miss the 80s😢

Venus is original from a Dutch group with Jerney Kaagman…
Venus is original from shocking blue with mariska veres as lead singer as far as i know

ULTRAVOX " VIENNA
ADAM ANT "STAND AMD DELIVER
ICE HOUSE "ICE HOUSE"
This was NOT a USA top song list..some of them werent even released in the US
UK
I have all of those...on vinyl....or cassette. Side note this is why all us fogies think GenZ are idiots. Like a virgin kicks WAP's ass.
I think this is U.K. hits of the 80s-some songs do not match up to U.S Billboard hits
The 80’s is the best Music ever
Yes, it's too fast.
