- In this lecture, we explore Augustine's theology of sex, gender, and the passions and refute the feminist interpretation of Augustine as a sexist and misogynistic theologian. On the contrary, though he is a product of his time, he has some rather remarkable moments of female superiority and importance scattered in his writings, especially as it relates to his wife in The Confessions, his mother Monica, Lucretia, and Dido.
