    Great video! Just to ask, do you know how the foynes limerick line restoration is going on? I saw your last video and was wondering had there been any progress?

    Extraordinary landscape - is the red due to iron or peat?

    • @dronehawk
      @dronehawk  Рік тому +2

      Its a waste by product from smelting bauxite ore in the manufacture of Aluminium . You are correct that the red colour is caused by the high iron ferrite contained within the mud

      It’s byproduct of the chemical process it’s not smelted. The ore is treated with caustic and lime and cooked in tanks to extract the alumina. This is the waste. Horrible stuff, be great if someone could figure out an application for it. It’s an amazing site, thanks for the great video.

    If the former Roche Pharmaceuticals Plant in Clarecastle in Co. Clare can tidy up their operations.
    Surely Rusal in Aughinish can do the same without looking for excuses to expand this toxic dump on the edge of the River Shannon and within 60km of the Atlantic Ocean

      Where's the profit in that ? Or should I say , their profit in doing that.

    Thanks for sharing, great video and shows what the media never shows, but us locals live beside. It’s going to cost billions to clean up this toxic mess when it closes, and it will close at some point, and then we’ll do the math and realise it cost tax payer more money than ever generated from the site. Irish planning allowed the expansion of their toxic pits at the same time as denying a cheese factory in the midlands due to climate change, but this ok, bonkers policies.

      I cannot believe what I see each time I fly along the foynes railway project. How this toxic dump is allowed baffles me

    Oh, friends! What is the capacity of this plant, eh? 2 million tons?
    In Russia, in protected areas, in the border territories on the Gulf of Finland, they want to build exactly the same "miracle" with a capacity of 4.9 million tons! Oh, "congratulate" us! And also, at the same time, "congratulate" the Finns and Estonians!!!
