Great review and advice. I drive for them as well (closing in on 3k trips) and prefer to mount phone from windsheild as it's easier and safer to have gmaps in my field of view without having to look down. It is farther away so I do have to reach for it when touching display bit I don't mind the trade off. I built my own custom unit just for my phone using an old Garmin Nuvi mount. It works great and keeps its position even over some of the worst roads in the country (NJ). I did just order the Taotronics unit you showed just to check it out and because I am a mount junkie.
In Texas I've never liked anything that blocks my air vents, especially in the summer. Had 1 air vent cell phone holder and used it 1 time to realize...no.
I agree with Cihan Ugar . Try a magnetic mount. They are only like $8 on groupon. I have a cd mount. The magnetic is super easy to grab with one hand when you leave your car.
In Indonesia we have the unbranded iottie v2 and v1 for about $3. I have 3 of them, and i love it.
In California you can only put a phone mount near the edges of the window/dash. Basically you can't obstruct your view. I have a 2009 Nissan that has a CD that I haven't used, so I use a TechMatte MagGrip CD Slot Magnet Mount. I have a beefy Otterbox Defender case on my phone and all these claw mounts don't work well. i like the Magnetic mount because I get in/out of my car a lot with my phone. The metal plate necessary for the magnetic mount fits inside the defender case. The company has stick-up and vent mounts too. You should place your affiliate link to them. Only issue is that it might melt in Arizona!
I lost my RAM mount in a rental car... I miss that thing every day.. :( Not only for the phone, but also for holding the camera for short movie.. clips.
Mine is a Hug Buddy and is much like the one you like. Attaches to the vent. HOWEVER........... In winter with the heat on
it gets so hot the phone overheats, and Uber and GPS stop working. So in between rides I put it on the seat to cool.
BUT.......uber sent me a text saying they assume I'm talking or texting while driving because my phone is moving.
WHICH really FREAKED me out. I didn't send feedback, they didn't ask for any. BUT today I've been deactivated and still no response to why.
I HATE HATE any obstruction or distraction in, around or on the windshield or any window.
You can close off each vent individually, you know that right? Just close the one that your phone is on. I've never heard of such a text from Uber. Thats odd. I feel like I move my phone around all the time. Have you emailed them back to explain what happened? Sorry to hear that
Your 3rd link doesn't work. The one you mentioned is your favorite once.
I've ordered two off your links ! Let me know if you got hooked up please!!
It is legal to put the phone mount on your car dashboard and windshield in Los Angeles, CA?
Im not sure if it is legal or not. But I have been doing it for years and see other drivers doing it too. I doubt you will ever get pulled over for having your phone mounted to your dashboard
GUERRERO3940 as of January 2017 in California you can mount a cellphone holder either on the center of the dashboard or in the far left bottom of the driver's side of the dashboard or about under 7 cubic inches on the far left bottom, but it has to be out of the driver's point of view and out of the air bag range on both locations in the vehicle, but still don't be surprised if you still get pulled over, I got pulled over few times for putting my phone on the center of the dashboard and on the center windscreen, so I recommend putting it on the far left bottom of the driver's side if you can.
what are you using to record this video?
Samsung Galaxy S6
Your awesome
Great information and wow, what awesome, perfect white teeth you have!!!
Wrong wrong wrong....... dude, try the magnetic phone holders. The vent one works flawlessly. You will never look back.
Manyetiklerdeki mıknatısların telefon compass ayarlarını bozduğunu, dolayısıyla gps ayarlarında da saptırıcı olabileceğini duydum. siz havalandırmadan manyetik olanı kullanıyorsunuz sanırım, söyledğim gibi bir sorun yaşadınız mı hiç?
Cihan Ugur where could we get those?
Cihan Ugur inn
Not good for wireless charging
Magnetic will mass up ur phone in the long run
i hate magnetic mounts my phones to heavy and the sticky part doesnt wrk keeps falling of schotch or whatee that one is
Magnetic is best. The absolute best? Scosche MAGDMB MagicMount Magnetic Dash Mount for Mobile Devices. Check it out on Amazon, I got mine at Walmart.
Clear Evidence how much did you get it for?
be careful with those vent mounts or you will cook your phone during winter
no magnetic mounts...
John Butner why?
I use a tablet, magnetic the way to go.
