I mean, it's not exclusively that - just that the songs were generally better back then. Much more rich and inspired actual timeless Anthems. But I'll admit, the prevalence of Social Media has led this industry to it's ruin: everything now becomes cheap, soulless and cringey; a fast jammy beat and a few swinging girls is all you need.
I'm glad I grew up in that time 😊

Nearly all the pluggers - employed by record companies to promote their artists to broadcasters - polled by Music Week suggest scrapping live performances since the public expects to hear what is on the record, and too often the sounds on the record and the sounds on the television seem only distantly related."
