- Our Most Unique Disc Release in Years
The Alien is like no other disc on the market. Its top resembles a Sonic, and its rim is like a mid-range. It is surprisingly stable, maybe even a tad overstable. The Alien thrives in a universe of spin putts, approach shots, and short-range drives.
In this video, Team Innova's Chris Shotwell and marketing director Jeff Panis take the Star Alien for a spin at Prado Regional Park in Chino, California.
This disc is so unearthly unique, it doesn’t fit into one of our standard disc categories. We’ve resurrected the designation “Multi-Purpose” to capture the versatility of the mold. The Alien has become one of our top recommendations for a one-disc round.
For players transitioning from other disc sports, the wider diameter and saucer-style top will feel super comfortable in the hand. Using the Alien feels like playing catch, but the disc can handle torque, wind, and power better than any catch disc ever could.

This disc is so Innova. All the old school elements -- fastback, relatively neutral lid-esqe, speed closer to what would today be called hybrid but in the past was in maincategory -- but somehow put together to be fairly innovative.
I’d definitely like to bag one now. Looks silky smooth in the air.
Joseph here. Lovin' the Alien. First time I took it out, I parked two 150' overheads (tomahawks) throwing over a stand of junipers. Don't know of any other disc I could have come close with, except my ancient Aviar, but that's doubtful. The profile and Fastback grooves make it very controllable. Floats to the basket nicely with a backhand air toss. I find the Nexus plastic grippier than the Star, but it's getting beat up pretty fast. A great innovation! Keep it up!
Finally! Alien 'Disc'losure is here!!
Thanks for all the awesome content Jeff!
Thanks for the feedback 👊
I'll try one sure.. Thanks Dave!
Read Headlines & Swore it Read "Innova Star Allen". The marketing team needs to get on that "Innova Star Allen". With all the success from Jenn Allen past & lately, She deserves it.
She has been crushing it 💪
Looks like a fun disc to try out! One disc challenge would be fun for a round.
Ohhhh, I like your thinking
They took for the Alien, the Hero Disc 215 (made by Innova) or Innova and Hero disc Supersonic/Sonic Extra that is a midrange disc size with a wider rim midrange like that of a Mako type rim disc that can act like a putter as well. The Alian and Hero/Innova disc is using the same top that a Sonic has at 21.5--21.6 cm rim diameter like most midrange that Innova makes at 21.6 cm.
A thick rimmed fastback mid will be perfect for those coming from ultimate.
dave d is my personal hero, a living legend
I got a gift certificate for Xmas, and placed an order today, Alien is on the list of discs ordered. Excited to throw it and the others when I receive them.
Just got mine in the mail, the most comfortable disc I’ve ever held, feels like I can rip it 500 feet. Mine goes 250 max super straight and reliable.
mine goes 260 max super straight
@@frankhaulamine goes 270 dead straight.
@@weedmanbrandon this was five days ago, mine goes 280 max super turbo straight now
Im guessing because of my live for disc golf and aliens that i will have one of these disc soon. Perhaps more then one? Reminds me of the "rubber putter" i have from the 80s
I saw a video of a fellow throwing a disc across a football field and came to find out he was using a "sonic" which are OOP. Very excited to see this release.
Sonic is still a production mold, just in limited runs. The Alien is more overstable than Sonic.
There are sonics everywhere. Mostly base plastic but there are color glow and star out there too. I'm hoping for a metal flake eventually..
Id like to try one!
Looks like this will be my new upshot disc.
Looks like a old school Frisbee. Lol. I will throw one and get back to you! TEAM INNOVA!
Sweet 🙏 share your thoughts
Glow would be sweet!
When is Innova going to produce Burst Logo Star Caimans ? I really need some ASAP ! lol and also when are new star gators coming out ? Need those as well !
welp, I know what im picking up this weekend. my friend is gonna trip over this disc. looking forward to when this disc is broken in.
You better come back and tell us how straight it flies when its beat in lol.
I’m considering purchasing a star alien . I just wanna know if it’s good at long range driving ? Or is it more of a putt approach Mid-Range ?
how does it forehand?
Multi purpose disc….🤔 could always bring back the spider. Got some of the artist series run. 💰 like they always were.
Innova’s response to the Glitch. But I’m not say it’s the same kind of disc by any means. It has more of a Berg mentality. Looks like a fun disc.
This wasn't made in response to a disc but an idea Dave had to combine the fastback top of the Sonic with a torque-resistant mid-range rim.
This isn’t even close to a glitch, so how would this be a response? If they wanted a respond disc they would need a slow speed, very high glide, low weight disc.
or we need a PIG with more glide
But when do the stock runs release?
DX, Nexus, and Star are now available for dealer orders
And not a single forehand approach was thrown.
Fair enough. Shotty did sneak in that ~180ft forehand shot
I’ll give y’all some forehands when I get my aliens

Toro.
Pig...
how did chris shoot today?
Like he typically does, well under par
@@innovawombat so you could say Chris Shotwell?
I can't wait to grab an alien
Hold the HIIIIIIIIIIIZENBERG!
We make green ones 💚
we need a slightly more over stable Jay
Try a lion. Roc3 also super straight for me.
Or you could just buy and throw a fastback... that looks like. 0 2 at least it's pretty beefy with a ton of fade lol
Beefier for sure
@innovawombat it has no high speed flip up, and at slow speeds quickly starts hyzering. The slow approaches it was hooking hard. To get a flex line the high arm speed pros had to muscle and force and anny....
Seems too stable for its flight rating! Should be at least a 2 in the Fade..
Eww
The disc we didn’t know we needed… wait we didn’t need it
Lemme know. If you try it
@@innovawombat I'll try it for my UA-cam channel and even record a 1-disc round with it. Looks like a fun disc!
Let's make 500 different discs. We'll act like they are awesome and all these little suburb forks will buy them. You need 4 discs to play any course in the world. I love seeing you dummies with 30 discs carrying all that weight for no reason. Destroyer. Roadrunner. Rock. Putter. That's all that's needed.
Can someone explain what a suburb fork is?
This might be the wrong sport for you if that’s how you’re gonna talk to other players 🤷♂️
