- Your #NATURALAQUARIUM cannot #cycle until fish are in it. Put a few small fish in your tank as soon as it is set up. BUT only feed the fish with VERY tiny amounts. #FATHERFISH explains how to #cycle your tank right away.
Our #FFRESEARCHTEAM is hard at work studying the science of the #FATHERFISH method. You may participate in this great endeavor to free the hobbyist from slavery to equipment, supplies, medications, and other expensive paraphernalia.

I love how different your insights are to a lot of other channels , you take the fear out of fish keeping Cheers
LOL. That is a profound insight into the FF method, fear free. I love it. Thank you Bobby.
I totally agree.
I've returned to the hobby after a
thirty year absence.
Some of the advice of some of the
channels, is ridiculous!
'Don't do this, don't do that.'
Trying to suggest items to buy for your aquarium that you don't actually need etc, etc.
@Father Fish hey . Thanks for all your help. I noticed you have a turtle in your tank. Any chance you could so a set up for one? I've a mississippi map turtle and I'd love your input. Thanks from Wales
Definitely interesting.
He is right. I learned hard way couple years ago.
I have been so freaked out about cycling my new tanks because I’ve heard how it takes a long time to cycle a tank. I’m so thankful I found this site. What a difference you’ve made ! Thank you !
I have nearly 70 years of fish keeping. Entire rooms filled with fish to breed and sell. Over all those years I have never intentionally cycled any freshwater tank. The main issue with fish is ph. As long as it's in the proper range for the variety and you have good filtration on the tank the fish should be fine. If there appears to be an ammonia issue a good partial water change will often take care of it. If you have other tanks or a friend does and you want to make it easy then put a new sponge filter in the old tank and run it for a week or so and then transfer it to the new tank. Even some gravel from an old tank is enough to seed the new tank. That said most fish if properly cared for will cycle a new tank without issues or work on your part.
Papa fish, i just wanted to say, you have completely relaxed my stress over my first tank, ive been wanting to do my first tank right and youve made all the complexities of doing so feel so simple. Thank you so much
Finally someone else on the same page when it comes to feeding, this video has been very reassuring even with being in the hobby for over 10 years other fish keepers will try to make to feel bad if you don't follow the norm. Everyone please listen to father fish, he's got it right. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Neon
Sir, you are simply incredible. You make the whole process seem so easy and simple. My heartfelt regards.
Thank you! Cheers! It really should be simple and perfect.
I put dead leaves in my tank (Indian Almond) less than a week ago and I'm noticing a lot of difference. PH is stabilizing, snails and shrimp are happy chowing down as they disentigrate.
Que la fuerza lo acompañe siempre!! Father fish !!
great advice! just remember that this approach only works on a heavily planted, dirted tank with an inch of dirt and 2 inches of sand. any other set-ups, require cycling of your filter, and water changes to keep nitrates down.
Finally, someone is talking about fish easily, thank you!
I feel you are bringing more than fish to individuals. You are bringing life to the planet, one fish owner at a time. From a biblical standpoint Father Fish is giving the caretaker role back to the human being and taking it away from the commercial ventures who are only out to get one more dollar for one more piece of earth destroyed.
It's so true, my fish play me like a fiddle, especially my bettas 🥲 I'm going to start putting my foot down!!
You men your fin? lol Good plan!

I love how your insight is wiser then most 😊
Happy Father Fish👍🏽
This is very valuable knowledge
I remember when I was still a kid,
I used to catch small fishes like clownfish and others on the shore and keep them in a fish tank.
Since I was little I didn't even know about those nitrate/amonia stuff plus It has no filter/aerator, but my fish survives for many months just by changing water from time to time.
The only reason they died was because my little brother feed them a whole lot of bread when I was in school. Since then, I did not try to keep any fish again until now.
Thank you father fish!
I love your content! And your advice is top notch! I've tried 2 things so far paying attention to your content and my tanks are flourishing ❤❤❤😊
Really needed to see this! Thank you, Father Fish! I appreciate you calming my anxiety about keeping my Rose Petal Tail male Betta fish Atlas. Happy fish keeping! 🐠😊✨️💚

Amazing video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge 😊❤
God bless!
Thank you for this insight Father Fish! I always think about acclimating the fish to the tank, but it’s good to realize that the tank also needs to be acclimated to the fish!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, Father Fish. 🐠
My pleasure Jason
Bless you Father Fish! You have taught me so much in such a short space of time. I have shared your links with all my fish keeping friends.
You are amazing, Santa.
Father Fish, I have a Father Fish tank set up some 2 years ago and I do not feed them at all and all my fish are healthy and happy
You Go Vipin. A food web provides the same food our fish eat in the wild. This kind of system is VERY achievable.

Happy to help randomtea.
Love you father fish, i am in this hobby for the last 3 years
Thank you, Father Fish, for addressing feeding these wonderful fish properly.🧡So very helpful! God bless you.
I work with little kids. You are SO correct about encouraging the fish keeper to be in charge...and not the fish. :)
Love your videos father fish !
I pray for you now cause I want grateness for you. You have helped me so much in my walk with freshwater I love your back in the day thinking to a tank. Stunning tanks too. Love ya. -S-
Love ya Father Fish! Every fish keeper has something to learn from you. I myself appreciate you and have learned so much from you. Thank you and Happy Holidays 🙏❤️
So nice of you Kevin. You make it a joy. Merry Christmas.
I so totally agree and have always done this. Glad to see others do this too. I’ve never had a problem with my tanks. Thanks
That is awesome Elizabeth! Those who are in touch with nature understand what it means to have a natural aquarium. It is not simply appearance. It is the biology.
Awesome pops. 👌
This was a great vid thank you father fish very knowledgeable
Glad you enjoyed it Kodestar.
I love this man, so humble❤️
Only in mixed company.
Hey father fish! I just found this video and you last night. I was on the end of day two and today I introduced 4 small fish! I hope all goes well following these rules and I can have a stable home for the fish I’m planning for.
Best fishkeeping guide. Thank you father.
Very welcome
Nice video thanks ! I had my tank set up after moving house and wasn't sure when to add fish, will get a couple in to cycle !
Love your channel father fish I’m just new to aquariums and I’m learning loads from you thank you
Thank you Drone. Happy to help.
Thank you for being the first actually helpful video into this hobby I jumped into on a whim. I didn’t even realize how overwhelming it all can be lol
I just found you today Father Fish and I wish I found you when I started this, also not sure how many of your videos I have watched now. You are incredible and thank you for your wisdom! Subscribed, hit the bell and waiting for more videos! I wish there was one of you starting a new tank from start to finish for me to copy!
Thanks and welcome. Here is one: ua-cam.com/video/1rU0JDDtLBQ/v-deo.html
I really enjoyed today's sermon, Father Fish. Preach it brotha!!!
I read "A Fish Out of Water" as a kid, where the fish doctor said to only feed 'just a spot', and when the kid overfed his fish it grew to monstrous proportions, and the problem got way out of hand, and I am afraid our protagonist was in quite over his head, before he learned not to overfeed his pet fish.
It is actually very challenging not to overfeed. I like to look at the food floating at the surface from below to give me an idea of how much I put in there, but even still it is hard not to overfeed.
So excited for this video!!! Thanks for using the footage of my tanks! Don't forget to mention the discord next time ;)
Sure thing! Posted the link 5 times in the chat so far. lol
45 years ago I had a 29 gallon tank with a bunch of guppies and a bunch of plants and snails that was a couple years old and I sometimes wouldn't feed for a long time. I never did a water change on that tank. It just balanced out like one of those sealed jar biospheres.
Excellent information like always thank You 😊
Amazing ty again😊
Guy is awesome to watch everything he says makes sense is a proper professional at keeping an aquarium now listen more to this guy than any other when it comes to keeping aquarium fish I actually enjoy keeping them more and it's a lot less stressful
I set my tank up about 2 years ago after watching a video of yours, although I skipped a few of the substrate's ingredients, but I added leaves from the start and fish from day 1. And I barely feed them ever, like once in 4 months, I have 4 mountain minnows in a 10g.
Thank you for ff
I like the cut of your jib. As a total novice trying to make sense of all the contradictory information out there, this has been incredibly helpful. Thanks so much!
Nicely said Jay. A sailor's view of the world is not the same as the landlubber.
Thank you for your knowledge and words of wisdom. I have learned so much in the past few years after finding your channel. I now enjoy my tanks instead of working full time on them with out enjoying them. Wisdom I am truly grateful for 🤗
You are so welcome Howard. IT has been a delight getting to know you.
thank u sm, i looked at many videos and i was so scared that the nitrate level would be to high but this makes me feel a bit better, i put bacteria in mine from my other tanks in it to help , thank u for the info :)
Well said, just subscribed. Many thanks
You do a great work, thank you because you dedicate you time for helping other people who love this hobby
Appreciate your kindness Super ADI.
Thanks to you my fish are healthy and happy, also I’m happy to succeed without use any chemicals ❤ bc I was struggling with mechanical cycle
Sweet! Looks like I'll be getting my betta this weekend to get my tank cycling!
Hey father fish, after watching a handful of your videos I'm convinced, I'm about to set up my first father fish method tank! Been keeping shrimp and betta for a few years with heavily planted active substrate tanks after being scared of a totally natural tank.. Thanks for the courage to give this new tank adventure a go :) ❤
That is awesome Holly! Keep in touch: discord.gg/XptvbtMuRy
Subbed! Sure wish I'd have seen this BEFORE I set up my tank.
Fabulous video on a very important topic! Thank you for sharing all this great information! I hope you had a Merry Christmas! 😁
Thank you Mermaidschorus. Blessings are yours in the new year.
Yeah I always add fish inside the first week without to much hassle, I certainly under feed early aswell. Overfeeding early will crash your tanks quick without maintenance
Great video, as expected. I'm working on tearing down my tanks and redoing them with deep substrates.
Go for it Glen. We are here to help. discord.gg/sgeQSduS
Thank you !
thank you pops! 🤩
You're welcome 😊kiddo!
Sir, you are amazing.
I have been keeping aquariums since I was seven or eight years old, which was about sixty years ago. I was made aware of how we should cycle our tanks, and measure ammonia, nitrate, and nitrate. I must agree with what you are saying about adding fish, and slowly increasing the bioload. I'm sure there are people who take bits and pieces of information that you give, but have not had a concept of the big picture.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Yws. Some pick up a step or two and think they understand. When they fail I get their loud complaints. It is easy to see they have not tried the system, just a step or two.
Yeah i did this with my very 1st tank I had all those years ago and placed 4 glowlight tetras as my 1st fish and they were fine live along while
Great video, thank you!
Glad you liked it PK!
New sub!!!!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!
Good stuff!
New subscriber thank you for sharing all the experience well respected sir.😊
Thank you Doit for the kindness.
I like your advice and you’re style sir.
