    Try dying the yellow sweater in coffee to make it more muted! The high waisted striped pants look like they'll fit with your wardrobe perfectly

    I really enjoyed this video, Lia. Maybe your son would like to have the wallet as well as the watch to use himself in the future. There is something special, I think, for a boy to be able to both love & use his Grandfather's special things one day- it's certainly sustainable. It's lovely too for him to have the sweaters made with love. I have nice memories of my Nanna making me sweaters & cardigans when I was growing up.
    Keep the yellow sweater! It's a nice warm shade that will complement your complexion & the rest of your wardrobe. Well done, that you have shopped for free, and helped your Mum declutter.

      @Cielo Vida When I was working I had a few brighter colors but after retiring 8 years ago I don't have any. Most of the clothes I have can go with every other piece.

    Those sweaters are stunning. I still use the quilt my Granny made me when I was 8 years old. It feels like a hug. I read all of the Pippi Longstocking books.

    This happens when I visit my Mom too! Often I will use them for a while and then pass them on. My mom has a hard time letting go of things so I feel it's helpful if I take something and then pass it on. 😊❤️

    My mom always keeps a box where she put things she plans to donate before her scheduled pick up. A couple times I have found exactly what my family has been needing right in my moms box! It is such a great feeling to find something I’ve been in need of and also think of my mom every time I use it ❤️ I have never had living grandparents so I think it’s extra special to have those items for your son… I can’t imagine!

    Hello Lia 👋 keep the sweater this colour suits you. For napkins you can use it as cleaning chiffon or sewing a new clothe. Keep the pant, you can wear it low waisted like a harem pant : a chill, cool and easy style. Thank you for sharing 🍀😊🧡

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 роки тому +6

      Thank you for your suggestions! I think I'll keep the sweater but not the pant because it doesn't fit if it isn't worn high waste and also has no pockets 😉

    That Lindgren's book was my childhood all time favourite. My parents used to read it to me and I could quote my favourite parts. The book's physical appearance of course reflects the constant overuse... But interesting to know that the name Emil changed to Michel in german. In estonian (my mother tongue) it stayed the same. But thank you for the overall topic as well. Was very interesting to see how even very minimalist people still struggle a bit with well meaning relatives and gifts.

    Cloth napkins are great. We use ours so much more than I thought. and they are great for cleaning small spills or even like tissues for runny noses in a pinch. That sweater is beautiful. Maybe you can mute it down in a tea dye bath? But looks like a great option. And the sweaters your grandmother made for your son are so pretty!

    Hi Lia , I think all the things you got are lovely, especially the watch & sweaters for your son. These things have been given with love & that is priceless. Minimalism for me means only having things that I actually use or love. I have never counted these items as that was not my motivation for decluttering. I have been a minimalist for many years even though the rest of my family are not. You look so happy in this video, I think it has done you a world of good to go back home for a short break. With very best wishes from Kit in York England.

    I just went home to visit my family as well and I had quite a lot of stuff there that I had left there and I recently just posted it all to where I live now and I'm going to either use it here, or resell it - either way whatever I do with it is better than it just sitting being unused!

    @musikalele 3 роки тому +2

    Haha... Same happens to me when I come back home to my parents. Always leaving them with more stuff than I came with ... 😂 But hey... Secondhand stuff, avoiding it gets trashed, most of the time somebody in my family has good use of the items! Win-win-win!

    When my dad passed away last year & my brother & I were cleaning out his house, I hardly brought anything home. Only things that I was really going to use or needed. Now my brother on the other hand, was a different story. And he kept saying he was going to have to build an extra room on his house for all the stuff he was taking.

      I think it is such a lovely idea to keep some things that we can actually use. But I would really try to avoid just keeping things because they belonged to a loved one and it is definitely a reality that some people pay storage units or have extra rooms just for these things, which mostly don't get any use or love.

    I think Michel was renamed in Germany to prevent confusion with Emil from Emil und die Detektive! If the sweater is too bright, maybe try dying it with Henna? Might be misremembering but I thought you didn't love your last dying experiment as much and Henna can give much stronger colors if so desired.

    Thanks for your videos, they are often inspiring, and often comforting.
    I would be interested in hearing what you think about decluttering and environmental guilt, which I find myself thinking about a lot. For example I find it stressful to have an excess amount of bedding, kitchen-towels, clothes and other fabric things in my everyday storage. I have more than I need, but the excess fabric things are not in nice enough shape to sell or donate, and I could use them for several more years. Some things I upcycle and make pillow cases, but I still feel I have an excess (and stressful) amount of fabric things, but I am conflicted about decluttering them, because it would mean throwing them out (where I live that means they are burned to make heat for housing).

    When I got into a good space re my minimalism, over time it became about what is missing as well as what is actually there, and I'm going into a metaphysical place with it now.
    It's the space that's important. (Not the objects). So now I feel empowered enough to celebrate that space as *female* space. Any *penisowners* aren't allowed into my living area. I have a great female vibe going on here, male energy is usually them telling you stuff and giving no options. I genuinely don't want that different vibe in my space.
    Because it's the space that's important. The most important. Relaxed. Forgiving.
    I'm developing minimum standards to maintain the vibe.

    I think it would be better to see the rules as guidelines, because I know myself that I can be quite hard on myself. I have the "rule" not to have any plastic at my home, only buy dried food like lentils, rice, etc. in zero waste shops and refill my own jars. When I buy vegetables and fruits it has to be without plastic else I don't buy it. However I do like to eat vegan cheese every several weeks, which comes in a plastic package. I am also part of the foodsharing community here and the veggies and fruits I get (for free) are 90% packed in plastic. But because I can save that food from the bin, I am ok with it.

    Do you think you will change your hair again? I can never deside on how i want my hair haha. Im trying to be minimalistic but i keep finding myself wanting clothes and things. Its the whole "who you want to be" is marketed towards us so you are like, if i have that thing ill be the self i want to be. Instead youll just find more things to add to your life. Its so hard. Don`t really know what to do about it and how to stop wanting things.

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  2 роки тому +1

      I thought learning Swedish was pretty easy compared to other languages. But that is because German is my first language and German helps a lot with many Swedish words. English helps too though... And verbs are super easy in Swedish compared to German and also English I think 😊 But every language takes time and dedication to learn... I can read a Swedish book but I can barely talk to kids because I haven't practiced speaking Swedish 😊 but right now we are in Norway and my Swedish skills have helped a few times already (Norwegian and Swedish are pretty similar)

    I also think that it is difficult to say no, when someone who loves ypu wants to give you something that you dont meed or want. Luckely my family and myself also, never gets affended. It is alwaxs just a question, do you want it, no thankyou, okay. And i do that myself alot, but i always make sure that the person i asking knows thaf it is ok to say no to me. The thing about Emil, germany does that a lot, i dont know why, but there are many Cartoons where they do that, i suppose because they syncronise movies so much. Love from switzerland ❤
