Ok. I'll be ,83 next month so I've seen, read, watched through the 50's and on. A rupture is now referred to as a hernia. Could be in abdomen, or a disc in the back. Enjoy your channel. Keep it going!

When my husband was a young boy, he bought that 10 cent Joe Weider muscle building book. He thinks he still has it! By the way, my husband did indeed become a body builder and in the '70's won Mr. Indiana for his weight class. He is still a body builder although does not compete at the age of 68. He isn't your usual 68 yr old. I remember things being flocked. Eventually, it kind of disintegrated and fell off. I am picturing small piles if disintegrated flocking in parking spots! LOL. Back in the day, my Aunt Wanda had all pink kitchen appliances. I loved it and thought she was the coolest. Just for the record, the measure of a man is not his height or voice- but, his character. ; )

Also fun fact on an Episode of M*A*S*H Season 3 episode 18 called "House Arrest" Radar actually orders the elevator shoes so he could appear taller and I believe it was from Popular Mechanics too!

Love you & so enjoy your channel. My grandma had those pink washer & dryer. They purchased them in the 50s & they worked excellent until 1989. The washer went first & my grandpa tried to fix it but he just couldn’t find the part he needed. The dryer lasted another 10 years ( no lie). My grandpa fixed the dryer but it didn’t work but for a short time after that. They finally bought another set & they were the same brand, Whirlpool, from Sears, of course. They always bought everything from Sears. I miss them & that washer & dryer. 🙂

Fun fact I found you on UA-cam by falling down a rabbit hole looking at old kitchen appliance ads. Those ranges in the 50s with built in slow cookers and refrigerators with a butter conditioner sound wonderful. I don’t need a wifi fridge but I could totally use a butter conditioner keeping my butter at spreadable condition at all times.

I LOVE vintage ads, my Dad was an advertising photographer for nearly 40years so I've always loved them. The chimney breast in our living room is papered with a collage of original adds from 1952-54 issues of 'practical house holder' magazine. Lots of amazing interiors stuff, paint, tools and DIY. I love it ❤️
My favourite vintage magazines are Woman & Home and Good Housekeeping. Such a great video thank you.

There was an Andy Griffith episode where Barney was supposed to sing, but couldn't carry a tune, so Andy talked him into singing quiet...so quiet that there was no sound coming out of him. Andy convinced him that the microphone would do all the work. They had another guy singing into a live mic(Barney's was dead), and Barney was very shocked and amazed that he sounded so good...lol!

Hi Laci, I love your videos. Something that really is so important about your videos is the way you end them. I love that you want us to "feel safe and feel loved." What could be more important than that? Thank you so much!
I also love all your cool vintage things and lifestyle. I want some swing vases, several in each color so I can set up a rainbow near a window after our house is build and I admire your Pyrex collection. I am a Jadite Junkie and have lots of Jadite. As soon as we move into the house we are now building, I am going to start collecting pink Pyrex and colorful swing vases. I would also love a Kuba Komet TV and high-fi system. (My partner is an electrical engineer, so I think he could set up a new TV in the Kuba Komet face.)
I absolutely love your home, your style and everything about your channel. As soon as our house is built we will decorate the first floor in Craftsman and Frank Lloyd Wright type furniture and decorations, the house is based on vintage Craftsman and Prairie Style houses and the Walk-Our Basement will be all Mid-Century- Modern decoration. I'm not buying things for the new house yet, there will be too many things to move the way we already have the house w live in (an old Chicago Style bungalow) but we are really looking forward to taking tips from you and some other vintage divas and doing our thing!
I hope you are feeling safe and feeling loved.

I have some furniture from the 50’s, that were my parents, which they were the original owners of. I have a red and white mixer for the kitchen and a few other precious and priceless things, like a vase that you love, in blue. I love all of your videos Laci, and the way you handle yourself with such grace and class. I loved this vlog! I once found an Ebony magazine from the 1950s in the dresser of a late aunt - it featured Dorothy Dandridge. And, I remember those ventriloquist dummies were in Sears Christmas catalogs when I was a little girl in the 80s. I was terrified of those things .

Love your hair today! It's extra cute, just like you! I'm a good bit older than you so I actually remember growing up and seeing so many of these crazy adds! LOL! Some are really fun and silly. Some are weird and some are really considered sexist now days. But I remember actually seeing many of these, brings back great memories too!! Thank you for all the fun things you find and show us! I'm a 1962 model myself! Love ya dear!

Enjoyed the ads - "Story Time with Laci". Elevator shoes for men had the height built into the shoe - The heel may have been a bit higher but most of the height was inside the shoe.

Good a good laugh from the ads you share. So funny. You look beautiful as always. Just a tip, if you don’t mind. You wear the flower in your head on left if you are married, taken or don’t want to be bothered. If on right, your single and can be approached. Think of it wearing it on same side as your wedding ring.

Glad you enjoyed it! Haha I don’t follow the rules I guess. I wear my flower the way it works best with whatever hairstyle I have that day.

You would probably enjoy the show Mad Men on Netflix. It takes place in the 50s and 60s. It is about people who work in advertising and it’s so funny how some of the products they feature are still around today

Oh my goodness, this was a very fun video. I hope you do make a series of readings, like this.
Some of my favorite vintage magazines are Better Homes and Gardens, Feild and Stream and any movie magazines (Modern Screen, Silver Screen ect.) I can find.
I wish I could build a time machine, I'd pick you up and we could go shopping.
Ah, and we'll need a shrink ray, too.
I bet there was an ad for them somewhere. LOL
