Most appreciated for these bible studies, as a cradle catholic, I grew up believing with my whole heart without always truly understanding. These studies have given me an opportunity to understand and share my understanding with friends.

This really was a joy to watch. St. Thomas' commentary is truly beautiful and astounding. And it's delightful to watch Matt with his round glasses and pencil, saying things like "It's just really fun to hold a big bloody book."
This video makes me want to really delve into the commentaries more.

Really good insights - thank you. I know someone who lives life from a "defensive posture" which translates to not being able to receive love very well, causing pain to those giving / offering love. I appreciate the way you unpack Scripture and engage with the whole body of Christ - thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing this study, Matt. So enriching. I’m a baptist Protestant and I discovered your channel through Cameron Bertuzzi / Capturing Christianity, and I praise God for the discovery. This is the first of these bible studies that I’ve listened to, and I enjoyed it so much. God bless you, brother!

    Making Wise Decisions :
    1. Clear your heart of any known sin.
(Ask the Lord to reveal it; How to deal with sin - Repent)
    2. Bring your desires to a position of neutrality.
    3. Be alert to pressure.
(External pressure - pressure from friends; internal pressure - fears)
    4. Persist in prayer.
    (Pray without ceasing)
    5. Rest in God's promises.
    6. Wait for God's peace.
(God and I are together - so I can trust his decision)
To live in a confident expectation and anticipation of God's actions on our behalf; to refuse to run ahead of him trying to solve our problems for ourselves.
(Be still and know that I am God, be strong and take courage, wait on the Lord)
    Prayer
"Lord, I accept this situation as coming from you. In faith and trust, I place myself under your loving authority, and draw from you the strength I need to endure with gratitude."
    Amen.

Agreed, the message, of the subtle or not so subtle, involvement of the demonic, in the events of each day, need to be a continual reminder to the faithful. Three years since I joined the beautiful Catholic church, three months and no ability to take in the Eucharist, I feel the cynical word coming through.

The only thing that keeps coming to mind is the truth that God IS existence and being. That the essence of existence is light and light cannot be consumed by darkness because darkness only exists in places without light, but as long as things are moving and vibrating, they emit energy and wavelengths. Even in the "darkness" there can be existence. Though dark and empty space, such as in the cosmos between planets "exists" it cannot overcome existence because of the simple law of conservation of mass and energy. There will always be God just as there will always be energy, matter, and therefore, light. Thank you Matt, and God bless

One of the Greatest challenges in practicing ones faith is to be surrounded by those who do not have a vibrant faith and prayer life. Thus do not understand the gravity of the spiritual ware fare taking place all around us, and can even fail to see the war at all.

I like the Lord Of The Rings reference about sauron. Truthfully speaking there’s two kinds of people. Those who listen to a story for the hero, and those who listen to a story for the villain. The villain is the truly interesting caricature of any story. You can’t have a hero without a villain, however you can have a villain without a hero... in make belief anyway. Love the channel!! AND THE BEARD!!! God bless.

Me at the beginning of the video: why did Matt pick an abstract verse for a series that has already been sorta confusing?
Me at the end of the video: jumping up and down with joy in excitement having a new appreciation for God's love. So happy. Such a good video!

It has been one of the greatest challenges I've faced to recognize habitually, instinctively, the presence and activity of demons in the world - inadvertently, I end up trying to argue away demons: "Rioting is not going to help anyone! Look! you're destroying the business of a black man; how is this helping?!". This is why we need to fast and pray novenas: take 9 days, and dedicate them to the Medieval Lenten Fast and praying the novena, maybe even give up alcohol as well.

Around 13:20, you read St. Thomas quoting Job 36:32. The verse in my Bible is nothing like it. My Bible says the following (including verse 33 as well)
He covers his hands with the lightning,
and commands it to strike the mark.
    Its crashing declares concerning him,
who is jealous with anger against iniquity
So I looked at the Douay-Rheims translation since St. Thomas would have been using the Vulgate and indeed it does match (verse 33, not 32).
In his hands he hideth the light, and commandeth it to come again.
He sheweth his friend concerning it, that it is his possession, and that he may come up to it.
My question is, how are the two verses (Job 36:33), so vastly different?

I've heard nice thing regarding somehow this passage that Satan (darkness) wanted to overcome Christ, but since he was no match for Jesus God saw it fitting that Mary show Satan that even mere woman can defeat Satan.
