Thank you so much, Dan! I just picked up my ZILR cable today after my Kondor Blue cable went bust. The ZILR has such a nice, snug fit compared to the Kondor. Thanks for making this video!

@ramesh chand The Ninja is fully compatible with the A1... HOWEVER the Sony A1 will NOT output 8K to the Ninja!! It will output RAW, but at like 3.6K, as well as 4K 60P, etc. ... Please look at Gerald Undone's two excellent UA-cam vids on the A1 and getting the best output out of it - Thanks!! The cables you recommend provide 10 bit color …. I’m concerned that may impact prores raw, since the camera output at raw is 16 bit and then converted by the Atomos to 12bit, so I guess the hdmi cable should handle 12 bit as a minimum, if you want to get prores raw with 12 bit color …. I’m not an expert so I might be wrong ….
Hello sir, great video, really interesting. I wonder if I might ask a question to see if you might be able to offer any advice. I recently purchased a second hand Ninja Inferno 7” and the monitor appears to have the same issue you discuss in the video. I am currently using quite an old Sony camera (HVR Z5E) with an HDMI output. It can output 1080 25p externally and this is recognised by the Ninja Inferno. I am using an Atomos Pro Video HDMI cable, but I am still getting small drop outs. The drop outs occur either during recording or when I am just monitoring. I have played around with the HDMI input settings but the problem persists. Any ideas? Also, The SSD which I got with the Inferno is a Samsung 850 Pro. When I record, it captures the video, but creates a new file, when the cut out occurs. it is also displaying the SKIPPY sign (which I have now researched) and I have been reading about compatible SSDs. Any idea if this SSD is good enough for the Ninja Inferno and any recommendations for a better SSD. Thanks in advance.

Hi I have the same setup. I didn't really ever have trouble at 24fps. Only ever at 4k 60p where I'm really stressing the output of the camera. It could be a cable issue since I've found many cables that don't feel very trustworthy. Hard to tell. If you did have this cable, it would only just help you eliminate one potential source of the problem, but cannot guarantee it'll fix your problem.

You are limited to 4K with the micro hd cable. There is only an hdmi to hdmi 2.1 version but then you have to get an adapter, and will the adapter ruin the link?
My A1 has a full sized HDMI port. In my experience, any adaptor I've used (I've tried an L-shaped adapter to help relieve the strain), was a point of failure. I do not recommend adaptors (unless it's very specifically stated to work as an HDMI 2.1 or something) since they're usually bunk compared to a nice cable.

I have an A7siii and I Just bought a Tilta Cage with HDMI extension cable, so doesn’t work? I don’t really understood this part . Tks a lot. I will buy the 2.1 ZILR cable any way
Hi Felipe, yes I tested the HDMI extension by Tilta. It did not work even with my new found cables and it's a weakpoint in the chain. I originally got it since I could secure it against the cage and prevent accidental disconnections, but sadly the cable seemed like it was not in spec - at least for the A1 and the higher bandwidth codecs/resolutions/framerates. I've since switched to Kondor Blues cage for better ergonomics. Please update us if you find a workaround!
Just because it can, doesn't mean that it's supported in combination the Sony A1. Sony might have HDMI limitations. Or for example, you can only record RAW with Canon cameras, not Sony. They probably having licensing agreements.
I just ordered the ZILR 2.0b cable and got it today for my Ninja V for Pro of my A7SIII and it only works for 24FPS. 60FPS the flicker happens like you demonstrated above. Any other recommendations? Or should I go with the 2.1 cable even tho my camera doesn't output 8K or 4K120.
Sorry to hear that! I've been shooting mostly with my HDMI 2.1 8K cable and have encountered zero issues when doing 4K60P. I think it's safe to say that the 2.1 cable has a higher bandwidth than the 2.0b.

Anyway, the point is that this video specifically address the A1 in combination with the Ninja Atmos. Don't have an R6 so I can't comment on their compatibility, but thanks for letting us know that it works for the R6.
How has the Kondor Blue cable held up for you? I have the R5 and use Atomos’ own cable for the Ninja V+ but after 4 months of using the cable, it drastically got worse with the connection 😩
@@sarahmarieee it still working great! It is probably the connection on the R5
Appreciate the video ✌️
What about 4K dci?
Can't say I shoot much in DCI, but from their website, the atomos supports it and the tiny bump in resolution shouldn't affect performance of the cable that much. can't say for sure though, I have to test for it.
👍👍
What about 4K@120
Unfortunately the only way you can get 120fps on a Ninja V+ is via SDI cable, which the Sony A1 does not support. You would need something like a FX6
@@DiscoverwithDan I saw a 4K 120 cable that was the same as the 60 FPS cable.
@@cinematicknifeart9744 i bought the 8K cable (hdmi 2.1) because i knew it could handle the bandwidth of 4k60p. it's been working great for me so far! I also bought the normal 4k60p cable and that works. I would think the 120P cable would work as well.

Kondor Blue is junk made in China but the very best is the ZILR I’ve been using for a very long time it is pricy but it does the job ! Kondor Blue thinks they are the top of the line they are only pricy for real junk I’ve placed last year my first order talking to Jeffrey thinking it is made in the USA and I’ve told him that it it turned to be junk from China so I stopped placing orders with them . But I highly recommend the ZILR CABLE
Thank you for the added recommendation! Yes, the ZILR stuff has way tighter tolerances, even in the HDMI port - very impressed by their quality. I'm just glad it works as advertised, which seems to be harder to find in products these days.
