This was superinteresting. Twitch experience has changed a lot over the past 10 years. I get that streamers need to roll the ads, I am all for it. It has however, been more and more intrusive over the last few years. Some streamers are just too difficult too watch with long ads at very pivotal moments. I admire your big effort to prevent this. You're welcome. I agree pre-roll ads are the worst. You don't get a chance to see who you want to watch right away. My recommendation is to set ads manager to 3 minutes per hour with the "disable pre-roll ads" thing selected. It'll disable pre-rolls for an hour.

10:12 as a near nobody on Twitch, I dont rely on funding at all BUT I've taken your approach (Yelsraek passed this info on to me a few days ago but I'm just getting around to it now lol).
I'm a variety streamer, and I'd hate to have my few viewers sit through pre-rolls only to find out that the topic of the moment is something they don't even care about. Your method of basically disabling pre-rolls is perfect for not letting that happen to people.
As an additional benefit, I can schedule my own "brb" sessions around the ad rolls to make sure that nobody misses anything, and it reminds me to take frequent stretch breaks.
You may not realize it, but the greatness of your logic here transcends the financial side of things and can also really benefit the "nobody" streamers like myself.

Do i understand it right that if i play 3 minutes of ads, pre rolls are disabled for an hour, but if i do another quick 3 mintues (after those initial 8 you talked about) it's added upt to about 2 hours then or how does that work?

That's how I believed it to work, but it might actually just max out at 1 hour. Gotta re-check.

Yep. You can click a button on your desktop or use a button on an elgato stream deck to run the ads manually. Every time you do extends the timer that runs them automatically by whatever time you had it set to.
Have you ever been ad banned before when it shows a purple screen to your viewers and it says commercial in progress? And do you know why it happens?
Never seen that.
