I an in awe of Oma Lien’s collection of Sansevierias! They are not boring plants as many people believe; they are fascinating and varied. I especially love the variegated types. I thank Oma Lien for her cultural tips, too. I have grown a couple of the variegated Futura cultivars and found that the pups from them always revert to the trifasciata Laurenticolor form,
Thanks Sean for this amazing tour with the incredible collection of sansevieras cultived by mrs.Oma Lien...i can't believe it's really insane for us the chilean people
I generally don't like Sansevierias and never considered buying one before, but with so many varieties on display even I found one to add to my plant wishlist. Thank you for sharing this very informational video!
I've been loving these sansevieria videos! I've been trying to snatch up some rarer ones when I come across them, but Oma Lien has SO MANY that I've never seen/heard of before, I've got a few new wishlist plants now.
Very interesting episode Sean. Wow, so many gems here. I’ve never heard of shaping a Sansiveria “like bonsai”! I had no idea about the multitude of plant competitions, and also the destruction of some of the babies in order to protect intellectual property. As plants are living organisms, I personally have a hard time throwing away/purposely killing plants.
Yes unfortunately a lot of plant lives are lost in production… while they might not be able to feel the way humans do, I believe they do experience loss and pain…
Lovely video. I do grow all my Sansieveria in full sun, and they are used as landscaping plants here in Nigeria ( note this is their native range) and they do great in full sun. Never experienced any sun burn with them.
Wooo maybe the suns angle there is just nice. Because Indonesia is right on the equator, the midday sun can be too much for it. Thats so cool that you live in Nigeria!
Hello again, I was waiting for this episode. "underdogs" eh😊? As I said in my previous comment, in Europe we love sansevieria. I think the hype over aroids is over... In our conditions it is very hard to keep a verrucosum happy, however my oldest sansevieria trifasciata 'Laurentii' is almost two metres high! The gifts you got are so precious, I totally agree that a plant with history /story attached is unique. Btw. 'Whitney' sold in my area is different from yours. It is uniform dark green surrounded by a beautiful pattern, a band on the side of the leaf. Thanks again. Greetings from Poland, Irena
What a beautiful spirit Oma Lien!! Thank you for sharing your story with us and lots of luck in your future competitions!! Thank you for sharing this information with us as it is very educational and informative for everyone who loves the sansevierias!! (Not sure if I spelled that correctly) Thanks again for all that you do for the plant community !!
Thank you so much for the beautiful tour and Oma Lien’s vast knowledge is incredibly helpful. My question is… I also have a Sansevieria Whitney, but it looks very different than hers and now yours 😊 what a beautiful gift, btw! Mine is solid dark green in the center with maybe .5% variegation on the back side but completely solid in the front. Could that be due to the light each of these plants received?
Light level and other variables (and also luck) determine variegation. But more light should promote more variegation (as long as it doesnt burn the leaves)
It was just amazing! Thank you so much, Oma Lin is just incredible. One question...if the plant got the light stress and turned yellow can it get reversed if we change the location or it will never be green again? Thanks in advance for your response .
Marvelous collection! Makes us appreciate sansevieras even more! Is the criteria for plant competitions, size, density, symmetry, presentation? Do you plan on filming and documenting these competition? I can totally see you as judge for such shows! 🙂
I did judge for a show one time, but it was an impromptu judging event so I didnt have time to plan or film it. I feel not as qualified as the experts of that genus though… perhaps some day after I’ve gained more experience 😀
@onlyplants Well, I think you well on your way to becoming a legendary plant enthusiast/guru, you are legendary in my eyes already! You already provide the world with the most insightful and passionate information! aaaaand a few days w/ Kunzo and voila 🙂
Thank you for doing a video on sansevieria! Not many people do. I have imported sanseveria from Indonesia a few times. The seller seems to offer plants he doesn't have but then use the money to purchase the plants and then send them to me. Is this a thing?? Just curious. I would rather purchase straight from the growers but it's difficult to know who is growing and who is buying and then selling.
The nifty spiraling tiny spiky leafed one at 4 minutes 30 seconds would be a nice addition to my collection, if someone sees this and knows what it is please share
Very beautiful Sean. Thank Ms Oma Lien for me. 🏆😁🇹🇹❤️ I wish I can learn how to gene split to get more varieties verigated. 🤣🤣 House on fire 🔥 grab your plants 🤣. You're too much . I have decided awhile now to just love your plants and the care of them will show enabling you to have a good name and trust with your customers!!
Oma Lien is my hero and I hope to have a collection this grand someday! Thank you for sharing her collection with us!

Thank you for this video Sean! I really enjoyed this one even though I have killed every sansevieria I have owned. Oma Lien's are soooooo beautiful!
Wewww me too. High five
not really a fan of Sansevieria until this video. Fascinating how this common plant can have so many varieties
Oh yes, and they are supposed to purify air more than other plants.
There are so many more than I knew!
Thank you for taking us along.
Thanks for coming with 😀

trifasciata Laurentii color form. (Sorry, I hit the send button by accident in my first comment)!
Whoaaa interesting. The trifasciatas have chimeral variegation I heard… and is very unstable. This is especially true with leaf cuttings
@@onlyplants This is why I won’t buy any more Futura cultivars. Too bad.
Wow 😮 it's a very interesting vlog . Thanks a lot for making this wonderful vlog❤

Yes it is a thing here. A lot of resellers and middlemen… and a bit risky sometimes to order from them.
@@onlyplants yes I get a bit stressed when I order. I'll keep looking for wonderful growers like Oma Lien😊
She has kind eyes
Yes, and very warm.
I didn't realize how many snake plants there were they are beautiful that's why I grow them
Yeahh sometimes we forget how many beautiful varieties there are!
Were can i get one of them shirts that Oma is wearing!?!? That looks bada$$!
Haha if you DM her on instagram Im sure she will guide you 😀 she is so friendly
@@onlyplants she has insta! Awesome how do I look her up?
Can you do Trifasciata?

Подскажите, какой адрес электронной почты Oma Lien?
The best way to reach her is by facebook or instagram which is on the video description. I dont think she has an email.
Wear can I get the T-shirt from? Can I get a link? “ Banteng Sansevieria “.
Haha its probably a community thing… usually these are not for sale
@@onlyplants thanks
can't find part 1: can you send me the link please?
