    But there was nothing talked or demonstrated about setting the tension, it looked like it was already done, and you were just describing what you have done, it would be helpful if you actually show us how to set the tension how to set the limit, etc.!

    When the limits are set and the opener stops, the opener with coast a little bit. That's why is goes farther other than just stopping completely.

    Would’ve been more helpful if you could’ve just put your finger on the chain and give us an idea how tight it should be.

    Today evening the chain came off the spoke at the light end and the door fell. I loosened the screws on the opposite end, realigned the spoke and then tightened the screws. The Garage door now opens/close but I see a big curve of the chain meaning the tension is still loose. I have tightened the screws as much as possible and fear that it may break. How should I go about making the chain tensioner straight/tight in between the black rod please?

    Why would the one side of my chain be that perfect half inch above the rail, but the other side is extremely tight. The other side does not seem to be affect by the loosening and tightening

      The other side is only tight because it’s a chain and cable drive if it was a chain drive about the same matters would be a consideration

      And when the garage door is fully open on the other side the chain has slack that’s just how I chain and cable Drive work with a full chain drive you would disengage the garage door from the opener and from that side you will still measure 1/2 inch above the rail and then you are set

    Does the force limit on the modern chamberlain garage door opener applies to the purple learn button and the yellow learn button on the 8500

    Do you measure 1/2” only in the middle of the rail or the whole length?

    • @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208
      @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208  3 роки тому

      So when the garage doors closed make sure you have your door disengage and look down the rail and see how your chain is obviously if it’s too tight it will be really straight if it’s too much slack in it it will be below the rail you only want it about 1/2 inch in the center of the rail get a tape measure and measure 1/2 inch of the chain being above the rail or if you don’t even want to do the tape measure idea
      Know where the opener is or even better where the door arm is and look strata crossed in the chain should have a little bit of a Sag but not enough SAG for it to hit the rail

      @@zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208 So disengage the door from the trolly first before adjusting?

    • @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208

      Yes correct

    • @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208
      @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208  3 роки тому

      I do not know how your down limit is adjusted because if you adjusted it when the door is engaged with the opener you can make your adjustments perfectly but then in reality when you run the opener the chain will be really tight so make sure you disengage it before you make your adjustments

    My hardware came loose at the brackets that join the rails together causing a squeak. Could I use thread lock on them to prevent this in the future or will just tightening be sufficient?

    • @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208
      @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208  3 роки тому

      Look at the bolts to see if they are not broken or striped out if they are good u can put thread lock on it and make it tight but not so tight that u will snap it off if it happens again get new bolts

    U sure the chain should be tight like yours? All the pros i know recommend a tiny bit loose not tight chain like yours

    • @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208
      @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208  3 роки тому

      Actually my chains on all my opener’s are at the proper tension if your chain is too loose you will hear access noise and your opener will just be very loud and very pointless so it’s always very important to make sure your chain is 1/2 inch above the rail if you put your eye and look down at the rail with the chain you should have a little bit of a droop And it should be 1/2 inch

    How do I set the down limit?

    • @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208
      @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208  3 роки тому

      If it’s a old opener like I have it should be on the side of the garage door opener and it should have two holes in the metal case and it should say up or down or any kind of arrow to tell you which way to turn it when you get to the desire down limit make sure it doesn’t close really hard against the garage door floor
