The group:
The banda gaita Xarabal was created in the University of Vigo in 1984 as a complementary activity to that of factory Galician traditional instruments. Initially, an educational group had been established with the objective to make traditional music with instruments made in the factory of the University for seminars and courses on the Galician music. Interest in the band's music was such that it was decided to create the banda de bagpipes in 1984. The great figures of the Galician music have supported this project, incorporating their best students in the banda such as Carlos Nunez, Anxo Pintos Xavier Abad ... The banda was given the name "Xarabal" which means "school of fish in front of a danger" (peixes ante grupo a perigro). For this metaphor, the musicians emphasize that traditional Galician music is endangered and it is difficult to keep alive in the contemporary world. The objective of the banda is clear: to revive traditional music while opening up to other musical cultures (Latin American, Classical) for the Galician heritage reborn in the present, but also continues in the future. Thus are introduced in performances of contemporary instruments such as synthesizer or Latino-American percussion (congas, bongos, etc.). The repertoire of banda consists of both traditional pieces and compositions (Nazario Gonzalez, Xosé Manuel Budino, Ernesto Campos). Over its 31 years of existence, the banda has completed several discographic recording projects and has participated in many festivals internationally, including the Inter-Celtic Festival of Lorient. The cultural association also gives Galician culture workshops (music, cuisine, etc.)

Unfortunately I have no influence on the content of the music or the performance. I just filmed the group and edited it from an international folk festival. I hope you could at least enjoy the other music without saxophone with the bagpipes.

@@marinapino480 Creo que el muchacho se refería a que esta es la más extendida, mientras que el flamenco es propio de una etnia diferente de la ibérica, y de una región pequeña, y no como la creencia popular (Extranjera) cree, que pertenece a toda la península ibérica y a la etnia ibérica.

@@escaramujo Es un racista. Los del sur estamos orgullosos de nuestra historia, que es tan grande e importante, que es lo único conocido fuera del país por su fuerza. Y es de España el flamenco, no tiene un origen extranjero, es únicamente español. Influencia árabe, por supuesto, 800 años, con mucha honra. Y me siento orgulloso de escuchar gaitas y música celta porque son de mi país. Pero lamentando mucho por el comentario racista del de arriba, tengo que decirle que se joda, porque el arte más grande y donde más nacen, están en el sur.

Es fusión, new age, etc.; gilipolleces, en mi opinión; una tontuna como sería pretender meter una par de gaitas en una banda de jazz, pero es lo que hay. Los musicos de jazz, que tienen 4 gatos de público, cuando se cansan de tocar ante la pared, dan la lata muchísimo para meterse en otros ámbitos y grupos que, como el folk, tienen verdadero tirón, sin importarles en absoluto la degradación de estilo que originan, en un ámbito tan valioso como es el de nuestra música tradicional..
