I love the colors of the quilt. I think they are perfect for an antique look.

I think your quilt turned out beautiful! I agree it looks long and skinny but you addressed that well. The custom quilting really adds a lot.

Cotton Country is in a little town about an 1.5 hour from me ,she is a very friendly person ,I shop here often and have taken courses from them…They have a nice selection probably the best, since we don’t have a lot of fabrics here …Very friendly when you enter the store..The pattern pillow is a mummer pattern which is what people did here years ago ,going from house to house …People covered their faces and someone usually played the accordion and danced…

Hi, I met a very nice lady at the Dunnville Quilt show a few months back, the name of her store is Nesting Ground, Wainfleet Ontario. I thought she had some very nice fabric. Mummers, are where people dress up and go around to their neighbours houses for a kitchen party, they play music and get drunk. A lot of fun, the children would go around at Christmas to get candy, cake, etc. It was called Jannin" (I think that's the correct spelling) Hope that helps.

Exactly so! Mummering is an old European tradition that continued much later in Newfoundland due to its isolation. Archivists and enthusiasts for the culture have created a resurgence in the tradition, which happens around Christmastime. People dress to disguise themselves and to amuse their hosts, wearing underwear on the outside and lots of padding on the inside and genderbending in all directions, cutting holes in old pillowcases to use as masks. They travel house to house and sing and carouse while the hosts try (not too hard) to guess who they might be.
Nowadays there are workshops on creating an Ugly stick or a hobby horse as accessories, and on making a costume out of old clothing and whatnot. Then, at least in St. John's, there's a Mummer's Parade mostly for the kids.
