Stephanie thank you so much for teaching this. I enjoyed this and I learn something new in every video.
Oh good to hear!!!! Thank you for watching!
I'm watching you and trying to hand quilt! Thanks for posting this video!
Hand quilting...I would love to see it when you are done!
Thank you Stephanie I have such a hard time doing binding you make it look so much easier
You are so welcome! Sorry it wasn't a better color, but I will do it again in the future on something else to make it easier. :-)
You gave me the courage to machine quilt my mystery quilt. Not perfect but I followed your steps. Realized I need to invest in quality thread.
Aurifil is my favorite, but I think Gutterman is great too!
I loved this tutorial thank you Stephanie 👍👏🥰💐🇦🇺
Glad you liked it!!
Thanks Stephanie very informative great tutorial! Hugs 🤗
Hugs to you too!!! Thank you!
Great tutorial! Thank you Stephanie!♥🐢
Hi Pauline!!!!
Thank you for the tutorial. It helped a great deal.
My pleasure! I will try to bind again some time in a better color!
Stephanie, this is a wonderful video for a beginner! I am not a beginner but watched anyway for additional quilting wisdom as well as supporting your channel. Thank you for what you do!
Thank you so much for your support!!! xoxo
Stephanie you done a great job
Thanks Nancy!
Thank you Stephanie! I've done a few quilts since I started but this has been really helpful! I made your fall project, the pumpkins, and am ready to quilt it but not sure what to do.
Thanks Steph. I sew vicariously with you! Not being able to access sewing room, find this the only way. I’ve never used spray to baste. Had always pinned, or tacked with a basting stitch. Old dog here🥰🇦🇺
Hi there...so glad to 'see' you again! I pinned until I found the spray...now I can't go back!
Great video I need to make a quilt sandwich so I can practice free motion quilting, thanks for sharing
Welcome! Have fun practicing!
I learned a few tips today thanks Stephanie!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial!
Thank you!
Thank you for your video. Putting on the borders for the Sew this Love piece. Will be trying the binding soon.
Hope you post a picture in the FWFS FB group when you are done!
Love your music
Thank you!
Thank you for teaching the beginners of quilting and especially the binding
Welcome! I will do another video soon with a better color...I didn't think about that when I picked the binding!
Great tutorial Stephanie for beginners. I've been quilting for 30+ years but still struggle with binding. I hand quilt.
You hand quilt...that's awesome!
Hello Stephine, single digits where I am ! Very well done tutorial thank you 👏. Glad your feeling better . The first time I did binding on a potholder ( over Christmas) my seam in my binding landed on the corner of my quilt sandwich , I didn't think anything of it...man that was a mistake. I should have just ripped back the stitches and cut the binding back to move the seam or something IDK noob mistake, now I know better but I'm still a noob😂 .
:-)
Great tutorial! I used to almost break out in a "cold sweat" when I had to bind something until a sweet lady in my guild sat me down and taught me how to do it! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills. Are you snowed in? We have ice and snow and will have to have someone plow our lane before we can get out! Good day to sew...
We were snowed in. We were under a level 2 emergency, so we weren't supposed to go out unless it was necessary. They lifted it this evening and my husband went to the store...he said the main roads were okay, but all the side roads and our development are still a mess. Oh well, just have to stay in and sew!
Thank you ♥️
Cold here today with snow
Hope you are staying warm!!!
Love that black fabric!!! Have you ever used the basting powder? Got some and really like it. Have used 505 but didn't like the smell as I sewing in my small downstairs room.
I just got some of the powder but haven't tried it yet...looking forward to seeing how it works!
Love the spray basting spray, pinning makes a quilt too heavy for me
I agree!
Stephanie, when you trim the quilt before putting on the binding , do you always trim the quilt next to the fabric? I was taught to leave a quarter inch from the top fabric. What is the best way to do this? I just want a method the works well.
I was always taught to trim right next to the fabric. I think there is more than one way to do something and whatever you like and works for you is what you should do. 🙂
Hi Stephanie. Sometimes my backing is much darker than my quilt top so I want to use very different thread color on top and bottom . I notice that you can see the dark loops in the stitching on the top. Is this just what happens or maybe it’s a tension issue? Any suggestions?
That means you are pulling thread up from the bottom...a tension issue - your top tension is too tight. It can be difficult to get the tension correct when you use two different threads...the dye of the different colors can change the way the thread behaves. Hope that helps!
@@StephaniesStitches Thanks so much. That helps tremendously. I have been limited in the thread I use because I was not sure what issue was. Did not want to start messing with the tension unnecessarily!
Do you echo both sides of each line?
Yes 😊
