Japanese cutting skills - Super sharp Japanese utility knife 2
Chef Dai demonstrates a simple cutting technique on an orange.
This technique isn't the most effective way of removing the skin or the most time efficient. This video has been made simply to demonstrate the sharpness of this Japanese utility knife and an alternative and interesting way to cutting an orange.
Removing the inner orange (carpel) from the outer skin and rind with a super sharp knife, without leaving any rind on the fruit is the key to producing clean lines and a juicy looking end product.
This certainly isn't how I remove the skin from an orange at home as there is some waste (although you can eat the remaining orange from the top and bottom) and the rind contains as much vitamin C as the actual inner orange does.

That's an awesome way to make a simple orange look so much more tastier haha
Thanks a lot Thomas, when the occasion calls for it, its nice to make food look more aesthetically pleasing, isn't it. To be honest though, I always just peel the orange when I'm at home : )
No problem, yeah making food more aesthetically pleasing is a great feeling at times but yeah haha nice to know you peel it at home :-)

*IT'S JUST A BORING OLD ORANGE!*
after this video
*_MAYBE TO YOU BUT NOT TO ME_*
So much orange wasted.
lot of the orange wasted in the names of aesthetics! peeling and dicing an orange the normal hand way is nor rocket science!
+Param Krishna How so? I see no waste. He did use the ends to make the cup part. The juice from those could easily been squeezed and enjoyed by the eater of this exquisite looking treat. :)
