Dr. Schwartz is one of the most gifted clinicians in trauma healing. She has such beautiful presence, too. What she says deeply resonates with me. Thank you.

Tamii's questions are so poignant, too. I can relate to the stage of continuing to seek validation. I was aware of doing this but kept needing more. More connection and understanding and reflecting back (by loving others) what was going on for me. Yes,it took the right kind, and amount, of "being seen." It seemed to last forever! (I was also there for others when they needed me, but reached out more to them (my friends). Then it suddenly started to shift, and I didn't need all that validation anymore! I felt no need to consult s friend to ask what I should do next, for example. As if I could finally steer my own boat. And then I did wonder: how do I connect, if not by constantly asking for validation? It feels awkward. But I now practice relating by actively asking about my friends' well bring and thinking what I can do for them. You are both amazing! I loved this interview. Somatics is the missing piece from mental health care. It is essential, I believe.

Just ran across this..I've been on my healing journey for the past 2 years. I must say that 2nd question was a deal maker..so many people don't actively seek the help that they so desperately need because they are coming from a place of shame or fear..at the age of 52..I've had cpsd adhd severe depression and dissociation from severe childhood trauma as well as numerous traumatic experiences in my adult life..Thank you so very much for this

What a great interview and Dr Schwartz has such a compassionate voice. I still feel stuck sometimes in victim mode, believing "my past happened" for a reason. Sometimes it gives me fuel in my work towards healing myself others. However, i also like the perspective of acceptance that my trauma happened for no other reason than IT DID and IT WAS unfortunate, and I need to shape myself to what happened to me. I am responsible for who i am today, but I sometimes get stuck because of someone else's abuse. Thank you for this empowering interview!

Recognition and validation allows us to naturally make the shift more out of "victim mode thinking" yes to that.
