  • There is dissension within the LGBTQ+ community of people showing too much pride. If that's the case, should it be brought down? Is there some reason why people apart of the LGBTQ+ community are showing some much self-expression?

Pride is a response to hatred, rather than backing down we stand up and make our voices clear

Beautifully put, a great explanation of cause and effect! (I know it’s naive but) I really hope Pride can continue to thrive and grow without the hatred in the future!

So, I often wear pride flags on a daily basis because:
I don’t do it to show who I am, I do it to show people are not alone! They have been forced to hide so I want to give them a safe space.
Also I love that you started with a Brandon rogers video!

I don’t know if you were given the same support that you’re currently providing for others. But it’s very forward thinking and emotionally intelligent to do something like that. As you give people both directly/indirectly a sense of feeling seen, heard and supported. You’re sensational!
And thank you, Brandon is top tier for sure, glad you liked it!

Good on you man. I do the same. For a few reasons, but mainly as a community support thing, for those who are not safe to be *Out* so they can see my rainbow stuff and see that they are not alone and that it can get better. And it has actually had the desired effect - a positive effect on someone who saw me in the street and discreetly came out to me, telling me he had to hide it from his friends. So it is good.

@@UMBR. Thank you so much for the endless support that you provide! I know there's an abundance of resources but do you have any specific brands or websites you shop at for rainbow/ pride appeal that you'd suggest?

@@aneighborstale I usually get my stuff at the Pride events themselves. My crossbody bag (that goes nearly everywhere with me) is decorated in a rainbow garland and a re-purposed rainbow wristband that I got at a new local Pride; and also a rainbow lanyard from Etsy for my keys; and a red ribbon for HIV awareness. I tried to decorate my house for Pride last year, and I got as far as one small rainbow flag... and that got stolen. So I decided to decorate my bag instead.

@UMBR. It got STOLEN?! That’s ridiculous, I’m sorry! But I completely understand, regarding all your various purchases. Come to think of it it’s probably even better that way as you’re supporting local Pride businesses!

lgbtqia+community is a minority, so im more focused on how our rights are being taken away esp as a trans person. so no- there shouldnt be a limit bc when we start limiting others that turns into policing and we already have so much to worry about like not getting murdered on a daily basis for being ourselves. The more we normalize queer culture, the easier it will be for us to survive day to day in society

for me, pride is a way to express myself, but not a bad way. personally, I don't like certain pride things like fetish and shit like that. but other than that I express myself mostly because of home not being supportive. but some people do go too far like fetish and leather and other things but other than that, thats pride for you!

I hate that you don’t get the support you deserve at home. But I’m very happy you’ve created your own support system and I hope they always make you feel fantastic about yourself, because you are fantastic!! And thank you for sharing in general, sincerely!

Why is fetish "too far" or "bad"? What you are doing there is no different to how homophobes view gay people. You don't share the same prefernces as us, so that makes us "bad" or "too far? Really? That is not very "pride" or "queer community" of you. Us fetish kinksters are merely celebrating our part of pride. We are no less valid than the rest of the queer community, but thanks for expressing your intolerance of us lol. You can try to separate yourself from us in pride, but you cannot separate us from pride.
Gatekeeping pride is not a good look. You're not superior because you're vanilla.

The baby scene was hilarious! 😂
BTW as someone's who LGBT, I agree with your views.. to me pride is just accepting the way I was born and I feel that some of my fellow LGBT people overdo it in a way (ESPECIALLY THOSE BDSM LIKE PARADES) that's uncomfortable even for me, to me pride month/celebrate is just loving, supporting and accepting myself as well as people like me! ❤🏳️‍🌈

    • @aneighborstale

I feel so silly because I didn’t realize just how prevalent the “BDSM Wave” was in the parades until I started making this video and also seeing the various comments talking about it. So, I really appreciate your insight!
And I’m ecstatic that you’ve found peace and acceptable not only in yourself but from all the great people you surround yourself with, that’s amazing!! 🏳️‍🌈🥳
And thank you 🤣 it was a fun scene to put together!

@@josephfong2003 Why would the BDSM crowd make you uncomfortable? And why do you use the word "overdo"? You say pride is about "loving, supporting and accepting" yourself and people like you, and that is great, but most of the queer community will not be like you. And it is great you are comfortable with yourself, but it sounds like you're not comfortable with other queer people who are NOT like you - so how "accepting" are you really, if all queers have to be like you to achieve your acceptance?
