- Melomakarona are soft cookies infused in an orange honey syrup. They are little crunchy from outside but soft from inside. In Cyprus, they are a classic Christmas bake.
In our days there are different Melomakarona recipes but this one is a traditional, from my aunty. Generally, people don't add ground hazelnuts for the dough, but in her village there are a lot of hazelnut trees. That's why it was very common there to make this addition. So delicious!

I have just come back from Cyprus and had two aunties make Melomakarona. I seriously over dosed on them. I recommend an English style cup of tea to go with them.
