    To be honest, I'm currently applying as a transfer student to Upenn. It has been my dream school since sophomore year of high school. I love Penn, not only for its academics, name, but more because I love the energy, love the campus, and I guess it's just a passion. It's my dream school, and although they rejected me once, I'm applying again, and hoping I can get in. I hope for everyone who sees this message can get into their dream school too!

    Hello everyone! I just wanted to say good luck to everyone who is or will be applying to Penn! It’s application season and I know things are extremely tough both mentally and physically exhausting. The string of doubts, yet pulled with anticipation, weighs upon our mindsets. I know that a lot of us are looking at videos on “how I got into Penn” or Reddit’s “Chance me’s” and thinking perhaps we are not as “competitive” as we think (I’m also one of them 🙋‍♀️). Ignore all of that (I know it’s hard) and just try your best! Take your shot! Whatever schools you get into, it’s meant to be! ❤

    While the tips given here are helpful, the biggest component is luck. 60-70% of the applicants to a school like Penn are 3.8-4.0 students, have taken a challenging curriculum, have good test scores (over 1450 on the SAT and/or over a 32 on the ACT), good ECs and good essays. Of those, only 10-15% are getting in. 30 years ago, when I applied i college, the acceptance rate for students with such credentials was well over 40%. The applicant pools has just mushroomed over the years, but elite universities, despite having ample resources to meet the increase in demand, have vainly decided to artificially limit the number of acceptances purely for the sake of exclusivity. It is a sad state of affairs.

    there is something slightly off with what she said about the bc class. Taking AP stats in junior instead of Calculus BC seems like a better idea if you were going to major in business(marketing, stock, trading etc) stats is definitely going to provide more skills than derivatives and geometric series 😅. So while i get that taking the highest math possible at your school is important and impressive, I think it would be BETTER for a student to cover AP stats over AP Calculus if they’re looking to major into fields that involve statistical work such as finance and marking and data management etc.

    It’s the School of Arts and Sciences which has TWO undergraduate degree programs, not one. SAS is home to the College of Arts and Sciences as well as the College of Liberal and Professional Studies. There’s no reason to leave LPS out.

    • @adeafningsilence
      @adeafningsilence 3 роки тому

      LPS is for mature students who for some reason did not go to college straight after high school. The degree is offered part-time to enable students to work while doing their degree It's a different sort of program.

      @@adeafningsilence what does age have to do with anything? An an undergrad degree is an undergrad degree. I am still charged a meal plan and can get on campus housing. I am still listed as an undergraduate. Taking time away from school is irrelevant. This video isn’t labeled “traditional non mature admissions,” is it?

    I am a good fit for penn in terms of personality and extra curriculars. My test scores are around the average. However, my gpa is below the average. I have a good uptrend and in the junior year i have my highest gpa with 4 aps and couple honors. How can i improve?

  • @Jetfuture737

    22 students applied from our high school last year. Their GPA's ranged from 3.5 to about 4.5, with nearly all of them over 4.0. 90% of the applicants were over 30 ACT. 100% of them were denied by admissions.

      For you and others - do not be concerned with ECs. Not an admissions officer but strong connections to Penn. Unapologetically, briefly explain the absence & emphasize your other strengths, goals & philosophy in a non affected, sincere way. You’ll be fine. If you don’t get accepted blow it off and carry on. Good luck. ♥️

      a lot of students take both to make their applications more competitive. you usually have an extra elective spot open senior year due to having finished your required electives like foreign language, health, speech, and your physical education credit in years prior so a lot of students choose to take another AP
