Hi Martin. It's so great to see how well you're doing in your new life in Korea. Twenix seems a fantastic platform. Its policy of non discrimination between native and non native English teachers is a breath of fresh air. It was about time! I recently got a Delta and currently teach part-time at an Italian university, so I've got some spare time and would love to apply. Could you please tell me more about the demo lesson? Will I have to introduce myself or just teach? Will I have someone to teach to or just pretend someone is there? Will I use their platform and material or prepare mine? How did you structure a very short lesson? They seem to prefer a conversation-based approach, so did you adopt this approach for your demo lesson? Sorry about all the questions 🙂 Thank you!
There is very little time to introduce yourself but you have to pretend you have completed the ‘get to know you tasks’ and just teaching the main point. It is your chance to shine and show how well you carry yourself during the recorded lesson. It seems a little odd speaking to yourself but imagine you are chatting to a friend and give it a few takes until you are happy with the brief video. I hope this helps. 😊
My advice is to take your time, write down what you want to say in bullet points, smile, and record multiple takes before sharing a video you wish to share. This is what I did and then submitted the demo video. Take your time until you feel happy with what you have produced.

This video makes me very excited to sign up to Twenix! I have a question, I'm Dutch but I live in the Philippines on a tourist visa, do you know if I should say on Twenix that I live in The Netherlands or Philippines?
Hmm. That’s a good question. I think that you should say The Netherlands as you are visiting the Philippines as a tourist. However, it’s entirely up to you.
Can i ask what time in the day can you teach. I am based in the UK . I have kids at school so middle of the day for me and can you get lessons then? thanks
Thank you for your questions. I assume that there are lessons available during the day but I’m not totally sure to be honest. To record your demo lesson, you can just use your laptop’s webcam, but if you want to make it a little more professional then you can then use a microphone and good headphones. The demo lesson needs to demonstrate your actual setup.
That's definitely not a competitive rate, so I'm a little surprised to hear you say that especially knowing how much your profile is (or was?) listed at on set-your-own-rate sites. It's barely scraping UK living wage. A little annoying that you don't mention any solid numbers in the "rate of pay" section itself either... Is there a reason you moved to Twenix? Issues with iTalki/Preply?
Thanks for the comment. Twenix offer those a potential opportunity for those that hold no degree or people who speak English as a second language a chance to gain experience with online tutoring. The rate of pay is determined by location, so I don’t have specific information about individual rates based on countries.
The rate of pay is dependent upon the location of the teacher. Sorry I was unable to provide any more concrete information about it, but it was based upon my experience but it would differ for someone else located elsewhere.
@@ELTExperiences Thank you for responding. I understand the rates of pay vary, but commonly in these situations you would at least say what you're making teaching from Korea so that people could gauge accordingly. I also found it click-baity to have a whole "Rate of Pay" chapter which you could have imagined people clicked because they wanted a number. I respect that you couldn't provide that number, but I object to your implicit promise of it.
Thank you Martin. I have one other question that I forgot to ask...I read that these are students specifically learning business English. Could you clarify for me if that is true?
@@ELTExperiences Thank you Martin. This would work very well for me. I have my Celta and am currently finishing a certificate course in teaching business English. Also, I live in Spain so am learning Spanish
I hear that Twenix are going to be hiring very soon, so if you are interested in joining Twenix, you can sign up here: eltexperiences.com/twenix.

Wonderful, thanks!
Thanks for another great video. Just two questions, Are trials offered? Is it paid?
@naturallypatlin there are no trial lessons and you can’t start earning as soon as you have finished the onboarding.
Please what is the minimum hourly base rate I can use on preply platform? Can I use 2 dollars?
Hi,Thank you so much.I am on the demo part.any advice?

Hello my respectful teacher
How zit going
It's been a while 🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
It certainly has been a while and I shall try to post weekly videos for all!

I applied to Twenix and sent my two videos. How long does it take to hear back? It's been 10 days...
It usually takes a few weeks. Check your junk mail in case an automatic email reply was received there.

How long did it take for your demo classes to get approved?
Just a day or so. It was pretty quick, but the onboarding takes a little more time.
How can you have chapter called "Rate of Pay," and then just say it varies? C'mon man!
The rate of pay is dependent upon the location of the teacher. Sorry I was unable to provide any more concrete information about it, but it was based upon my experience but it would differ for someone else located elsewhere.

Hi Martin. What is their rating process, or don't they have one?
That’s a good question. Their rating is out of five stars for their tutors. Students rate you each lesson and vice versa.
Thank you Martin. I have one other question that I forgot to ask...I read that these are students specifically learning business English. Could you clarify for me if that is true?
I believe that is true. I would say most students (if not all) are business learners who want to talk about things related to their work.

Why are you pronouncing the name Tweenex as in Kleenex??
Is Twenix currently hiring?
From my understanding, they are. 😊
Thank you for responding ❤
Today I just got my profile Approved by Preply..no students yes...sir can you please share me some of your A1 student ?🎉❤
Congratulations! Been waiting almost a week on my approval 😢.
