On the Togean Islands you will find always calm crystal clear sea and serene vacation away from the beaten tourist paths. They are quite difficult to get to, but someone has even found his own paradise here.
The Togean archipelago is located in Indonesia, 40 km from the equator and has more than 50 islands and several coral atolls. Despite the remoteness, there are quite a few small inexpensive hotels and diving centers offering accommodation in simple wooden bungalows with three meals a day.
The main occupation of tourists is snorkeling or diving, which are especially good near coral atolls.
Exotic tarsiers, black macaques and hornbills live in the jungle on the islands, but it is quite difficult to see them without a guide. These animals and birds are best observed in the north of Sulawesi in the Tangkoko National Reserve.
