I think the rainbow buttons on the vest would look adorable, I can't relate with you saying it looks bad
Hi Hayley! Yes... it seems like many others agree with you! Haha It just goes to show I gotta chill out :P Thanks for your comment!
Find the rhythm that suits you regarding your podcast... I'm not going anywhere; what is good for you is good for me!
You're a delight to listen to and watch.
I wasn't enthralled by the Chaika when you first showed it, but when you put in on... oh that neckline! It suits you perfectly. I agree with your assessment of the bottom part. I hope your modifications will work out!
Aww Helene - thank you so much!! I'm thankful that you are here and stuck around to hear my little announcement at the end. Haha! And yes - I am crossing my fingers that the mods work out. xD
The blanket idea is genius!
Right?! xD I hope it works. hahaha
I feel like in many ways you're the opposite of me and I love it!! 😂 you've totally inspired me to make that shawl or something similar.
I'm in southern Ontario in Canada and all I want is just a glimpse of sunshine, so if you want to house swap just let me know 😆
Hahaha! I love meeting folks who are the opposite of me - I married an opposite, in fact - so welcome! I'm so glad you're here. :)
I too love the Vertices Unite Shawl. I finished mine in January and have used it a lot - in the house when I need warmth and with outfits when leaving the house. The squish ability allows you to wear it close around your neck or draped over your shoulders and arms. I Love the bigger shawls for this option.
Your daughter is blessed to have you knitting for her. Tell her she should feel that you're hugging her when she wears something you've made.
Thanks for the podcast!
Aww I love that - my makes being a hug from mama.
Love the neckline of your Chaika Sweater. I like the idea of the ever-growing log blanklet.
Thank you! and right?? It was def one of my more rare genius moments. Haha!
Hahaha! Sounds like you should be up here in the Pacific Northwest for your rainy gray days! Perfect weather to knit 😊
Haha!! 100%.
So here for the garter stitch love! And I love the idea of the blanket growing with your daughter ❤
right??? it's the unsung hero of knit stitches
I love your blanket and your Vertices Unite. I was actually searching for the Vertices Unite baby blanket since that’s what I’m currently knitting so this was a nice combo!
Oh that's right! Stephen West does have a blanket version. I hope the project is going well for you. :) Thank you so much for being here!
Omg I love the idea of the blanket that grows with them! Also, it will be a great way to use up some of my scraps!
100%! I'm so excited to keep you all posted on its progress/growth!
Oh, mama, I disagree. I a-dore those rainbow buttons against the olive green. Such a fun and creative pop of color against the drab green!
Ahhh you might be right!! I just need to let my girl express her creative self. She may have had a point picking those rainbow flowers. Sigh.. next time I'll contain myself. xD
The Chaika is really nice. I have to think about whether the silhouette will suit me. One of the loveliest design elements is how Midori paired a round neckline with a V-line contrast area. It’s something unexpected and gives the illusion of a V-neck.
I totally agree! I think that's what drew me to it and I couldn't get it out of my mind.
Love your blanket idea !!!
Thank you! 😊
The non-boucle Bourke yarn - could you knit either little pants or maybe a pinafore-style dress to go with the vest?
OOOHH a pinafore dress...... *wheels in my brain are instantly whirring...*
I’m actually just finishing up my first Vertices Unite shawl too! Such a great pattern and totally agree about it keeping your interest til the end. I was wondering the same thing about the short rows, and after some googling came across Steven’s “Shortcut Short Row” method. He’s got a tutorial on his UA-cam channel and mentions that is the method he uses on many of his shawls including the Vertices Unite. Hope that’s helpful!
OOOH that's good to know. I will def check that out before making a second one. Seeee i knew there was something fishy about it! xD Stephen is too thoughtful to have missed that! Thanks for the heads up Jennifer!
I'm really curious about that red/purple yarn to the left of the frame (right side of your head) would you mind sharing more about it, what it's made of and what you are planning with it? It looks really beautiful
Thank you! Sigh.. I, too, would love to know what the yarn is. Haha. I got it during a destash sale and all I know is that the color is lovely and it feels like it's non-superwash. I don't even know if it's sport or dk weight! (I'm sure there's a way I can find out, but I haven't ventured to do it yet.) I only have about 175g of it so I don't know yet what I'm going to make with it. If you have any ideas, I'm open to hearing them!
@@therapybycraft oh shame good luck, I'm sure you'll figure something out😊
sounds like you belong in the PNW :) I think the thick white bottom ribbing will look good on that sweater.
Ooh I really hope so. And yes. 100% I agree I would love the PNW.
I got my first Woolyknit order maybe 6 months ago, and my 4ply cone went so far! I got a sweater and slipover out of the yarn with it held double (with mohair as 3rd strand)! How does the Merino feel vs the British Wool?? I totally love what I made and it's not a big deal, but I do find it a bit hard to wear next to skin even though I'm not super sensitive. Been really eyeing the Merino with the Well Loved Knits discount code!!
I am a HUGE fan of Woolyknit and have both their cones, wool and merino. In fact, I'm in love with coned yarns in general - great price, fewer ends to weave. I just finished the Champagne cardigan with their British wool yarn held double with Drops kid silk mohair. Although I have not washed it, it does feel prickly. I have also used their merino cones and that is much softer. If you were considering something softer, definitely go for the merino cone. As you mentioned, WK is doing a collab right now with WellLovedKnits and both British wool and merino cones are 20% off until end of the month. They don't always have the merino cones included in these discounts. I just received my order tonight of, ehem, several cones and can't wait to use them. Another reason I stocked up is their prices have been increasing steadily over the past year. Yup, that's my excuse. 😂
One thing to note it be careful when mixing with mohair. I found my wool cardigan a bit pricklier this time around and that could be from the Drops silk mohair. Also, some shades are softer than others. It could also soften up a lot more after a good blocking and soaking with conditioner.
Thanks for the reply, Enig! This is my very first time using Woolyknit so I can't say too much about how it wears and lasts over time. I did cast on with my merino last week, and so far, it's been great! not very prickly, and even with the black (which I hear can be more rustic than the lighter colors), it feels good next to skin. I've put my british wool cones next to my neck and I def think I will use it for an outer layer. Maybe a cardigan?
The merino is great enough that I am super tempted to purchase more of it! Not sure if the code is still active, but even without it, I think the price is reasonable compared to others. :D
@@therapybycraft A cardigan would be great. Currently knitting the Agnete Cardigan using 1 strand British Wool (sage green) and 1 strand drops mohair and it is so soft. I can't wait to wash and block - the fabric with brioche is so squishy, light and airy. Also, compared to my Champagne cardigan which was knitted in charcoal, the sage green is much softer. I think the sale ends tonight - I love the natural shades - especially mulhacen. Definitely buy some more - it's a great buy and wears very well.
@@Enig_Mata we are on the same wavelength! I immediately went to the woolyknits website to order a few more cones after commenting on this thread... xD including 2 cones of the mulhacen!
@@therapybycraft Awesome!!!... I hope post a video when you get your yarn. They had a couple new colors I just had to get.
