We get married because marriage is a gift from God. Not all of us live by our instincts. Some of us have taken the word of Jesus Christ to heart.

I think her parents adjusted well in protecting the image of the dad. If it was dealt with restlessly the dad would have been exposed, for example if it happened that the times she asked for money the dad would always say I don't have and the mother would be the one giving money, than money would have been a big problem

Am i the only one who noticed how she really tried to dodge confirming that an unemployed husband also deserves to be maintained? She rather responded by giving an example where a man squandered his pension
Anyway thanks for the topic it's very insightful, marriage is a beautiful thing and issues of separation always have massive implications on involved parties and their families.

This is weird what she is saying about the 3 or 4 cases where men/husbands were claiming from their [ex]wives. So, if the household has a helpers does it follow that upon divorce the spouse who is not working cannot claim from the working spouse? Is there any legal definition or requirement that a spouse who is not working ought to be doing to qualify them of a claim upon divorce?

This thing of spousal maintenance is a problem, fine they were unemployed for a duration of the marriage but why must I be the one to maintain them? We already divorced, I have other problems to deal with and other financial commitments since life continues... They must just get a job 🤔, is there something I'm missing here?

@@budgetbossrsa yea. Marriage only curb expenses for the both of you, that you might have been living separately. For me there's cultural, religion & contract marriage(which is the birth of the those two marriage failures). The power abuse of cultural & religions marriage end us with these laws, of sanity. The spousal maintain is more of that person cannot/wont/doesn't want to be employed ever again, you got fund them & also your kids.

@@babalomandela6792 you're gonna to excuse me a bit because I like to argue a lot.
Traditional roles in a marriage are that the man is the provider and the female is the naturer, and she looks after the home. In this case, I am for things like Spousal maintainance because how else would she look after herself since she was not expected to work either way during the marriage.
These days, modern times, both the man and female work. So why would you be expected to pay spousal maintenance in that case? This is the case that I'm against and the case where someone point blank refuses to look for work and they're perfectly able - Women must stop being bums and look at a men to provide in 2024, times have changed.

Sho David, i am a bit fan of your podcast. Just one suggestion, when you invite a guest can you go straight to the fundamental questions please, we want want to hear what attracted us to the inteview. If you can limit questions around families, how people were raised, where they schooled, their background etc, because sometimes 3 hours of interview is too much! If you interview a sangoma, go straight to the main questions, no one wants to hear how the father/mother of the sangoma treated them when they were growing up, you get me?
