Just used this to change the temp in my hotel room. It stayed 74 cause the air kicked off if you didn’t move every ten minutes. It’s now 65 degrees and I’m loving it. Appreciate it man!

Last time I "held" the button for occupancy sensor (step 1) the shit went into reset/program mode and became a brick. No amount of button pushing got the air to turn on at all. The hotel guys disconnected it and made it wall unit control only and that gave me 60f. I'm never screwing with that setting again.

I happened to have a paperclip lying around and bent it a little to turn it into a rudimentary Philips head. It's a super short threaded ans small diameter (likely m1 or m2) screw and mine was screwed in loosely, so it doesn't take much force to get it off. If you happen to have a paperclip lying around, this might help! Sometimes you just gotta think outside the box :-)

Dude thank you so much. This hotel is pretty great but I've stayed here multiple times and every room is set up like this. Got so sick of my room getting hot and having the AC turn on for 30 seconds and then turning off. They charge hundreds per night, they can afford a little extra on their bill, they are just being cheap at the cost of their customers comfort. You've definitely brought me some happiness with this video, thank you so much.

Thank you for taking the time to create this video. I appreciate it!
Just my opinion.. but instead of limiting temps like this on customers, they really should just set a 24 hour 'reset' so that in 24 hours, it resets back to a default mode, rather than this. Most times, I see them using the motion detection in rooms, and the motion detection isn't facing anywhere near where people are, not to mention this is a terrible idea, because I don't know about anyone else, but when I fall asleep, it usually takes me a while before I move in bed, tripping the motion sensor, allowing the room to keep temp!

    • @funbro1

I've stayed with Marriott for over a decade now. This year i'm at their top level status. But I'm just about ready to break up with them all because of this crap thermostat. Marriott already saves money by cutting back on housekeeping. When they start controlling my room temperature, that's a step too far. I can't believe they wouldn't care about this. Their sole purpose is supposed to make you comfortable when you are away from home.

It does work for Friedrich! Thank you for posting this!!!
Took me a few tries to get the fan to stay on constant but I got it! I think the trick for me was being sure it was on with the little fan symbol running at the bottom on the display b4 I reset it to 0.0 - then hit the off/on to set it. It kept resetting back to 0.1 - but I kept trying different ways. (System on - system off - etc)
It's kinda tricky bc u can't tell very well if the system is on or off in videos here on UA-cam for the different systems - and some UA-camrs don't specify to ppl those kind of details but u did! I just couldn't follow it fast so I think I kept messing it up!
**please put the whole process in writing under ur video with details about doing the hack the specific way you did & include the words verdant & friedrich so we unfortunate Friedrich hotel industry climate hostages find you here too! I just thought the Verdant looked just like this one so I gave it a go -- & it worked! So gr8! Thank you so much!!**
If u watch the display fan in the videos it can reveal that - about whether its on or off or what the display looks like when u hit it to set it - etc.
I'm one of those lite sleepers that gets CONSTANTLY woken up by the whole thing turning on & off all night! Its like a car turning on & off right next to u all night!
Unacceptable! Hotels are expensive these days! We should *at least* be getting a room with an atmosphere setting where we *guests* want it!

After a total loss house fire, insurance stuck me in a Hilton for 38 days. I liked this video up 5 minutes after arriving, and I believe you saved my life. When I have a flare up, the pain is so bad it can make you suicidal. Because of this video, I can now rest comfortably, and control the temp during a flare up, which is a must. Cheers mate !!!! Just "tweaked" the unit in the hotel I'm in at the moment and it seems like it worked :) I hate how Marriott's try to save a buck and i don't get a good nights sleep... Now im grabbing my wrench and needle nose pliers for the water saving device in the shower head ! lol 🤣🥶💧

This video set me down the path of looking at the configs for this thermostat. I ultimately decided that the biggest issue was that its clock was off by 12 hours, which can be set on the first config screen.
The default of the Verdant VX's energy-saving function is to require constant occupancy during the day but only 1 minute of occupancy during the night (9pm - 9am) to stay out of energy-saving until morning. (The goal is to accurately sense that people are up and about during the day, but know that they aren't visible after they go to sleep.) With the clock off by that much, the temperature shot up once it couldn't see people sleeping.

Do you have any updates for newer thermostats? I’m at a brand new Hilton and even with it set to E-0, it is still shutting off constantly. The config menu has three large numbers and one small number now.

  • @brucecrutchfield3473
    @brucecrutchfield3473 3 роки тому +1

Just a heads up, these stats have built in radio to create a mesh network. If the property has it set up network settings will take priority no matter what configuration you do physically on the stat.
