The DS has detached itself from Citroen, and the DS 5 is its most luxurious flagship model. There's not a Citroen badge in sight thanks to the new DS family grille, while there's a choice of petrol and diesel engines, as well as a four-wheel drive hybrid model available.

I would buy a DS 5 because it very pretty, much more interesting than a lot of its rivals.

Please don't lie in these videos! I drove both the Passat and this new DS5 after each other and the suspension in the DS5 was miles better and gave you a smooth and soft ride against the bumpier Passat (not a sport spec car)! You get used to the buttons in any car after driving it a week.

this DS 5 is a good used car because it is reliable and cheap after some years. It deserves more esteem.

I can accept complaints about anything on this car BUT the interior: “you can never find anything”? Possibly because you’re driving it for the first time? Every brand has their way of doing things, I can’t drive a Volkswagen my whole life and expect to get into a Citröen/DS for the first time and find everything in the same way as in the VW, that’s normal.
Personally I’m in love with this cabin PRECISELY because it has buttons all around and a cockpit-like atmosphere to it. How cool is that!! It’s one of the very few brands that dare to be creative!
As for a reviewer I would advise that he should be truthful and if you don’t like people criticising you simple change your job.
People look for a truthful review on cars or we wouldn’t look them up

The rear is spacious and interior is stunning ( brilliant car) I found it great to drive and thats the previous model with the firmer suspension which in my opinion is better
Very good review, thank you Carbuyer and James (though please don't try to review sportcars like the BMW M2). As for the car, it has probably the most interesting design in its class but objectively there are cars which are better
Ohwell it might just be me who likes his presenting style and the car. Each to their own :)
Nice car and innovative design wise... I think it needs a bigger and stronger petrol engine to really shine and of course independent rear suspension with adaptive dampers. You can't really consider yourself rival to luxurious German brands with a 1.6 and 2 liter diesel and torsion beam in your flagship model...

i doesnt look too bad ont he outside but the dash and centre console is really cluttered for my liking... i still dont understand why people are giving this guy such a hard time... i prefer matt but he isnt bad... he is knowledgeable and informative...

A lot of cars would fail that glove box test if you try to put the owners manual in that way! Most use a sideways orientation, but maybe you just wanted to make a point.

I drive a 2017 DS5 165 Turbo Automatic - lovely car.
The only complaints I have for the car (I have a 2015 pre-facelift) is the ski flap is off-centre and the middle seat in the back is very uncomfortable.
How economical is the petrol?
There is a little space for the manual under the drivers seat

Since when soft touch materials are bad to touch? If it were hard plastic would you be more happy? Clearly the car is not to your taste, but be so kindly open minded that other people might like it exactly beacuse it's quircky. And please bring Mat back, the presenter just is annoying to listen to.

Putting aside any comments about the guy personally, the review is absolutely hopeless in terms of telling you anything useful about the car.
I believe Mat has left Carbuyer and will be reviewing cars on a new channel called Carwow.

the one thing that annoys me abouy carbuyer is that they compare the car they are reviewing with another car which is better.... the boot space isnt as good a mondeo and the ride isnt a good as a passat. but its only one aspect from each car. so the passat might have a better ride but it costs another £3000 for a similar spec passat..... the mondeo has a better sized boot because its an extra 2ft long. so you cant really get a decent idea if this is an OVERALL better or worst car. compare it to the class leader so everyone has a car to properly compare it to. thats my opinion

Car reviews are not news that no one will ever see after a week. They are here for years to come and you're ruining them with this guy.
We don't care if he is getting better or not, this is not a new channel that needs to rise. It was already awesome and this is a massive downgrade.

What a load of rubbish . I bought one and it’s fantastic . Responsive great detail including the clock . Style comfort safety . Review after having 3 Renaults . Loved the heating in my back during a 12 hr drive it helped tremendously.
As for pot holes which we have a lot in Australia . No jarring and fuel efficiency is great compared to Hyundai Voloster .
So folks they are fab my husband is now thinking of buying the same car

I'm not going to unsubscribe, as I hope carbuyer will come good with a decent presenter. I have nothing about presenters being camp, but at least have some charm and personality. This chap is so bad, he's good.

I like the idea of Citroen creating a new DS brand. DS name symbolises such car magnificence but their current range is only harming the brand. Where is the innovation? Do we prefer DS over a Kia? Should we buy a DS just because they do just the same as any other brand? Where is the individuality? Why should I prefer a new DS over Prius? I think now Tesla is what original DS was.
i like DS but reservations over one thing: residual values over 3-5yrs. i bet by 2027 itll be worth £2000.
I have the older model, It is an ok car but has some major faults.
No cupholders (well it has 2 but they can't hold anything bigger than a can and they cause the drinks to spill when closing the door)
Awful economy on the 2 litre Diesel (35MPG after 3 years...)
Awful rattles
Tiny glovebox
No postcode entry on satnav!!!
The Citroen emergency button was useless, the emergency services had no way of entering my location that Citroen gave them.
Looks amazing though.

Something i don't get. They want to upmarket this brand and compete with premium members. Yet a peugeot 308 sw has the handy levers in the boot for perect flat and in this outdated thing you need to manually lift the seats ?
-> not 30k worthy, get a bmw 3 series instead, this isn't premium AT ALL
+Kappa DS5 is already old and the 308 is younger so it makes sense DS5 is lacking some new gimmicks.
This is the first attempt from DS (or rather Citroën) at Premium and I didn't think they would succeed right from the start.
I do hope next gen' will be more Premium and interesting though.

Steve Nugent not actually front grill area much better at previous version which is the biggest change
with Matt you look at the videos even if you are not directly interested in the car...with these "dude" even if you are interested you have to watch it in like 30sec episodes...
That's because it is a Citroen, a turd is a turd even if you call it a Chocolate log..... Not complaining, just pointing out the crap by rebadge old crap as new...... Premium price for a Citroen, someone will pay.
