He poured hydrogen peroxide, food coloring (the color), and i think dish soap into the flask. What he poured in was potassium iodide, a catalyst. I don't think theres an easy way to get potassium iodide. You can substitute potassium iodide with a yeast water mixture, but it will be much slower. As for the foam, it is safe to touch ( it is harmless oxygen bubbles), beside it being dangerously hot (cools down quick).
I've been subscribed to your channel and your stevespanglerscience channel for a long time, and although I love your videos I still feel like I've seen almost all of them already on one of your channels. I know the amount of fun (DIY) science experiments aren't infinite but it's becoming sort of repetitive. Keep up the good work of educating children with entertainment!
"And all this foam represent all the knowledge you will learn in school, and the foam inside the tube represent the knowledge that you'll actually need."
While it way be called elephant toothpaste, it is not recommended to use it on an elephants teeth as it has no fluoride or other teeth cleaning and strengthening chemicals.
H2O2 → 2 H2O + O2 disproportionates quickly with a catalyst such as I- (e.g. in form of KI, potassium iodide), OH-, Cu2+ etc. Together with a tensid (e. g. soap), you can see the expansion of the O2.
He left the main thing out to sell stuff online "kid friendly version"... Love catalysts...wish there was one...I don't know, maybe crazy-teen-period-fastforwader...
what are some advantages from this experiment? like what can we learn from this project? I'm using this experiment as my science fair project and in oder to choose it for my project i need at least 2 advantages/benefits! help please, thanks
I remember watching these when i was in 4th grade now I’m in my second year of university. Time flies
I remember watching this as a kid when I was interested in becoming a scientist and now here I am 7 years later.
"Always Practice Safe Science" that should be on a t-shirt!
Much like in school as well, the initial foam like enthusiasm quickly starts to reduce.
What a great metaphor for English class
That test tube just splurged

How do you know that
Silentninja0614 you wouldn't undestand wait til you grow up
Thanks
2:19 had me on the floor 😂😂 that laugh tho, i feel like thats outta a comedy movie 💀😂
So cool!
I love science
love the aperature backpack
Aperture science messenger bag!? BEST father ever
cool
that was bloody awesome mann
Lol there goes another suit!

he runs behind the science guy like a little scared girl xD
If those "kids" we're me, nothing would happen.
I didn't I had the worst day ever😂 I shout at like all my teachers!
love your vids awesome ill show my class
That kid is awesome has a portal backpack
pretty cool
So cool
"And all this foam represent all the knowledge you will learn in school, and the foam inside the tube represent the knowledge that you'll actually need."
VERY INPRESIVE...ILL TRY IT MYSELF
Amazing
So cool........I seen it before in Science Center
Awesome vid!
That was a awesome project
Cool science
i really want the uploader's approval

lol true but funny
LOL
That is was funny
It looks like toothpaste, and the only thing that needs that much toothpaste is an elephant, that's why it's called elephant toothpaste.
iluvyurbles learn english
Oh god... IT'S EVERYWHERE. I wish we could do this in our class... :P

Awesome
thanks jacob webb
Magical unicorn tears
2:16 . best. reaction. EVER. *RUN AWAAY*
Amazing!
It was probably diluted yeast, because yeast is a catalyst that can get that extract that extra oxygen from the hydrogen peroxide.
if anyone want to know the last chemical the catalyst is Potassium iodine
He left the main thing out to sell stuff online "kid friendly version"... Love catalysts...wish there was one...I don't know, maybe crazy-teen-period-fastforwader...
he always makes stories during this experiment...
woah! cool! Sadly, that never happened to me on the first day of school
daamn that was cool
The catalyst is 1 teaspoon yeast dissolved in approximately 2 tablespoons very warm water
freaking touch it
that's a lot of toothpaste.
your the best i learned about you in my science class my science teacher went to your workshop thing and i want to go also
Soap, Hydrogen Peroxide, and Potassium Iodide. Is that all we need?
"Elephants toothpaste"
those looks delicious!!!!
And by the way thats awsome
AM I the only one who thinks calling this "elephant toothpaste" is an open invitation for children to put it in theirs mouths?
cool!
i mean this so cool
Finn Mertens, the third compound is Potassium Iodide.
coooooool
Awesome video! I'm the same age as your son that's going into highschool. Woot
Yup.
thanks alot now my mom asks me what 5 things did u learn in school?!
Can I give this to my pet elephant?
He put yeast in at the end
0:19 That kid in the image has a Portal 2 Aperture Messenger Bag.
I Think The Kid's Backpack Is A Portal 2 Backpack?
i feel bad for the person who has to clean it up
Why don't "science experiments" include a clear and simple explanation of what's happening to ensure we learn science?
geez this stuff is for science experiment for mt teacher xD
amazing
WHAT WAS ALL THE STUFF WE NEED
Sôooooooooooooooo awsome
Potassium iodide. That's the catalyst.
2.29
That kid in the blue thing isn't exactly looking happy
Did anyone else happen to see the Aperture Science backpack?
That is sick
Cool
That's so cool I wish u where my teacher
what are some advantages from this experiment? like what can we learn from this project? I'm using this experiment as my science fair project and in oder to choose it for my project i need at least 2 advantages/benefits! help please, thanks
Watch sick science
his so cool
Potassium Iodide is the last addition
the catalyst was KI, potassium iodide :)
It was an enzyme known as Catalase.
That is to cool
what is the stuff in the little test tube that u take the lid off of????
What was that last ingredient? Sweet experiment!
replying incase someone finds out😂🤔
I feel bad for the person that has to clean that up...
We did this in science, but we used liver extract
I want to touch it soooo badly and is look so amazing what is it
I'm going to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What was the last thing he put on that? Please answer
omg this is awesome. but please tell us whats the third compound though
Nobody learns on the first day of school, they always go over classroom rules and things they need to get signed.
Did you mix Potassium Iodide and Sodium Iodide in water? Is that what's in the test tube?
Catalyst I think :)
what is the 3rd substance they put in? someone please tell me
neat...
I think we watch this video every day at Mrs adi class
Awsome
whats the last thing you put in the thing in the test tube
What is in the test tube?
