Link player here! There is actually a small way in which Young Link's down tilt can be considered better. Both of the Links have a meteor smash hitbox on their down tilt, with a sour spot that sends upward. However, Link's meteor is on the inside of the sword and is harder to hit due to the sourspot taking priority, wheras Young Link's is on the tip and is generally easier to hit since it takes priority. This can make Young Link's down tilt slightly more versatile for edgeguarding or breaking CC.
Ah Yoshi d-tilt, my beloved. Yoshi d-tilt x3 0-to-death will never fail to make me smile.
its built in punish game!
But junebug, what's the best dtilt in project m?
Junebug: "yes"
too many but lets put G&W at the top
luigi's is still dogshit
@@Dayo_tv Yes but at least it has a funny sound effect and actually does a lot more damage this time around.
i've never seen a smash player more outraged and confused than the time i used doc downtilt on a local PR player in the corner
If they don't know how to play against doc, you can guarantee they don't know about the down-tilt. I like throwing out an fsmash follow up (which isn't true, but so many people are not prepared for it)
Your top 4 is excellent. I would not have thought of Roy and G&W myself, but once you said their names it was obvious you were right
Rest of the video was fun too
If only Roy was the happening master
I was gonna be passed if Roy wasn’t mentioned 😡😂
Roys our boy
huge
This concept rules, you should do this for dmash fsmash etc. Lots of interesting stuff to talk about across the melee roster imo
Excellent, loved it, now do every other move in the game please 👍
There is something about Peaches Dtilt that scratches that happy part of my brain.
I would watch a video like this for every move in the game
Oh shit you already did uptilt lmao
you rly make the most random videos but I'm here for them
great way to think about and categorize pieces of kit
This was an interesting foray into some iconic moves !
Peach's downtilt being a meteor and therefore basically a mini Falcon stomp with all the frame advantage due to the opponent bouncing off the ground was underestimated imo
wow just yesterday i was thinking about where the junebug videos were, welcome back goat
Amazing video, would love to see more videos like this covering the best moves
Favorite maker of melee videos hands down. insta watch for me everytime
(and P+ vids too for that matter)
I would love to see analysis type videos like this for other moves
Excellent video 🔥
stay tuned this week :)
You deserve more views and subscribers, my favorite melee content
1:02 Shin Godzilla mod for PM spotted 👀
oh shit it's Junebug
Commenting for algorithm🎉
Edit* actually, I like seeing melee content again. Keep putting it out please.
Game and Watch
it's good
Was going to say that this video had a lot of And Friends vibes (5:34 + fox clips) and then I saw who edited it. Great video!
Great video, thanks brother
great video, these move comparison discussions are always super interesting imo lol. one that i've always wondered about (though it's a slightly different kind of question), which direction aerial is on average the best? Like is it the case that up-air across the melee/pm cast is most often a character's best aerial, or is it n-air perhaps?
Dope video June
Falco's down tilt is a pretty good combo move too, you just gotta space it correctly.
Sometimes instead of just following a pillar combo with another, down air + shine I mix up with a Neutral air + down tilt and it works really good on fast fallers, and if you miss your aerial and the opponent gets to shield, it's pretty safe on shield since it can push them away when hitting shield + being a little bit longer than shine and also can shield poke, a good falco will know that down tilt is not just a kill move.
Do up tilts next!
ganon ez
boy do i have a treat for you this week :eyes:
the crazy part of falco down tilt is that it actually combos super well :3
I love Junebug videos so much omg omg
when this video popped up I felt morally obligated as a roy main to click it and finally see roy being top tier.
Yoshis is practically a kill move
peach dtilt is so fucking good
Another banger ❤
Let’s gooooo, we love junebug in this house
I would argue g&w has a similar dtilt to falco in that it combos and kills
Thanks Junebug
Ayyy this video goes hard :). I have to add a fun fact to take into consideration for the "best": young link.... down-tilt..... spikes. I believe, it's the only down-tilt that has this property in melee as it stands.
It's my favorite Brawlhalla commentator 💪
i like this style
Wake up babe new junebug video dropped
Another banger!!!
Another masterclass
Docs downtilt is my favorite move in the game.
I love fishing for the reversal hit, and if Marth doesn't amsah tech it, it's really funny as a punish for his up b
me and my friend are low tier legends in both of our local scenes, and I immediately knew g&w (his low tier main and his ex-main) and roy (my low tier pick vs spacies) would both be really high on this list, but then I remembered yoshi, my ex-main, and I remembered how many bullshit free edgeguards I got from his down-tilt. Great video, and also here's the obligatory 1:1 is based. (also by low tier legends i mean we occasionally go 1-2 or 2-2 in bracket, i see no god up here but me)
Great video but one thing with luigi d-tilt is it can be okay for covering ledge and can potentially combo at high percent's off of covering ledge, this may seem small but it is helpful on luigi especially cuz down angle f-tilt doesn't really function properly...
He said that D-tilt leads to combos at 150%... Still doesn't change anything, you may as well spam your smash attacks
i've heard marth with roy down tilt would be broken for years, it'd be cool to actually see somebody bring it to life
June right bowsers down tilt is 26th maybe decent edge guarding but so punishable, the opposite of what you want a tilt to be.
g&ws d-tilt is one of the best “get off me” moves in the game
Docs is the funny button (its so wonky it should honestly be on luigi)
idk about links but YL dtilt can actually spike people offstage, so it can be pretty nice to hit people trying to grab ledge with it :)
I feel like falco dtilt can also be used as an okay poke and combo extender/ender, although not as efficient as fox's. I've been seeing Mango and KJH use it a lot more recently.
As a GW player, this seemed like a fair assessment :)
G&W's doesn't even get enough credit here imo. He didn't even mention that it kills off the top at high percents.
yo I just wanna say those peach clips were NASTY, like how long were they on the backburner? specifically @ 6:34
New June :)
there's a beautiful irony that Yoshi's dtilt can be amsah teched
great video! i do wish that for the uninitiated, you explained what the acronyms were during that setup phase, because everyone wont know what FC aerials are, or what ASDI or amsah techning is, and while you did go over CC and IASA frames existing & their implications, i feel like they werent explained as concepts really
also typo at 1:53 safety
Ah good to know, thank you!
Will work on more background info in next vid
Is it possible to make a melee mod, where you can create a character by using one character as a base and then give it moves from others? Like: Having Marth with a Shine and Fox' Upsash, Yoshi's Downtilt, Ice climbers wavedash etc ?
Shout out to samus downtilt which comboes middle weights like sheik and marth extremely well
4:3 pog
4:3 supremacy
junebug content :^)
what does distortion mean when you use the word
I heart saftery (known from just before the Mario bobs show up
luigi dtilt can combo into up-b sweetspot on spacies if you wavedash but that's like it's only utility
so can't argue with where you put it LMAOOO
he lives
you didnt cover yl downtilt spiking/meteoring at ledge if sweetspotted
I personally think it’s Roy who has the best. Long ranged (only slightly shorter than Marth’s) combo starter, combo extender, and IASA 20 (just like Marth’s). Imagine if every time you got poked by Marth d tilt, you instead ate a combo
Mr. G&W
Marth down tilt is stupid good
Yoshi mentioned RAAAAH
whos toolkit does the most damage.
Yoshi.
It's Yoshi.
thank you
Haven't seen it yet, but it's probably Roy's right? At least I think so
Our boy, duh.
4:3 is god like
G&W's downtilt CAN KILL!!! Very reliably too!!!
tru!
Yooo what’s that skin pack at 6:45.
8:02 why do you say marth would be the best character with roy's dtilt why also ranking marth's dtilt above roy's?
because Roy's dtilt is stuck on Roy
Yoshi has a top 3 down tilt in melee imo
editing reminds me of justus
I love 4:3
marth downtilt with distortion and reverb
Haven't watched the video yet but the answer is Roy's
I'd say Roy. Imagine Roy d-tilt comboing into a Fox Upsmash or Bair. That is some P+ shit right there. And having your defensive stance move be an uno reverse card instead of a reset tool sounds a bit more bs.
Babe wake up Junebug just posted🗣️🔥
People are loving the aspect ratio.... but I had to check, and it's 4 pixels off! You're shaving 2 pixels off of each side! Melee is 73:60, so a 720p video should end up being 876x720. Video ends up being 872x720. Might be a conversion youtube does though
Why would a poke be better than a combo starter? Because it sends off-stage?
depends on the one your talkjing about, pokes are usually more useful in neutral and can lead to an edgeguard or a tech chase
@@arJunebugSmash Well the obvious one is Roy vs Marth dtilt. Roy's leads to a combo, Marth's leads to a poke.
Why would Marth prefer a poke over a combo starter for his dtilt? The edgeguarding and tech-chase advantage I can see in certain circumstances, but what is the neutral advantage? That it can't be as easily CC'd?
before watching the video it's roy or yoshi
Its roy? Is there really a debate here
y9u should do one for the causuals 💀💀💀
Roy’s d tilt is a perfect combo starter. Too bad he doesn’t have any combos to start.
you can dtilt -> aerial -> fsmash, and it's a true combo (on stages with platforms)
he can also just dtilt -> dtilt -> fsmash on spacies
but I'm a bad roy so
junebug
junebug
Roy
Who has the best down tilt? Psh... me!
Imagine if Roy dtilt was on a good character
marth with roy dtilt is top 1
I see youre disagreeing with leffen saying mewtwos down tilt is the best down tilt in the game
his opinion is valid
@arJunebugSmash yeah iirc he highly valued the speed it comes out and autocancels meaning it was often good vs asdi down (maybe even cc but not sure)
imagine fox spamming mewtwo dtilt out of run as a mixup, directly into grab/shine. that sounds awful
