    A triple thumbs up! Thoroughly enjoyed how you worked the scene, moving the lighthouse for different perspectives. Reinforces the concept of never being satisfied with taking only one image with one viewpoint, as others might be hidden, waiting to be discovered.
    Always enjoy each new video

    Nice video! Your intro scenes are really turning into a spectacle all their own. I Felt like I was in Jurassic Park going through the weeds there!
    I've been digging through your past videos and have come to two conclusions:
    1. You're a very good photographer and your channel definitely deserves more subscribers. You have a calm, thorough style that really makes for a pleasant viewing, and your attention to detail pays off with many well-timed, well-composed images.
    2. Australia is an amazing, vibrant land that could keep any photographer happy for a lifetime.

    Andrew, another great video from this vacation trip. I really like your approach to landscape photography and it is always refreshing to listen to your narrative. I often take something from your video which helps me with my photography. I like the first image as far as composition, it is well balanced between all the elements in the image and the perspective feels right. Great work! Cheers.

The moment you set up the first image with the rocks lined up directly with the lighthouse, I thought Stone Henge / Black and White / high contrast...That's just me...I love Black and White landscapes cos they are timeless works. You worked each scene beautifully and in the end each image had its own unique beauty. Loved the vlog and the B roll...Take care mate. Greg

    Augusta is now my next 'photo jaunt' destination! The rocks on the south coast are so photogenic and I wish we had some of them up here around Perth - Point Peron's about as exciting as it gets {:-)
    Your photos turned out wonderfully and I especially like the letterbox cropping you did (if that's what it's called).
    One last thing: When I used to teach students to set up a theodolite or dumpy level I'd tell them that if the ground's on a slope, always put a single leg of the tripod downhill rather than up. That makes it more stable and less likely to tip over (5:07 in the video).
    Regards, Rob.

    Hi Andrew. What a location ! Sometimes capturing an image is a bonus. Just to have the chance to spend time in places like this is good for the soul. I really admire your measured approach to composition, because despite many years of photography, I still tend to dive straight in when I get to a location (mainly because I already have a shot in mind I guess). Hi Andrew, I quite liked the last panoramic. It felt more like a classic shot which I am drawn to it. I do understand though that from where you were shooting it was difficult to have got a good shot. However, since the wide angle was not quite working do you think a shot with a zoom lens like the 70-200 would have been better?

    Andrew, fantastic images, great location, stunning composition and informative commentary. You never disappoint. One question I would like to ask is this; is there a reason why the focus point of your images is rarely ever mentioned along with all the other technical detail provided? I've actually noticed that most of the photography vloggers I follow rarely ever explain where they focused and why or whether they focused stacked. I'm wondering, do highly skilled photographers consider the focus point a non essential detail or irrelevant to the outcome of the image? If not, IMHO it would always be helpful to know where you choose to focus to get the sharpest DOF or for some creative effect. Please don't take this as criticism, I look forward to every video you put out and I learn so much from every one. Thanks so much for all the hard work you put it into these vlogs.

  • @mauriziomigliozzi

    It is always a sort of poetic experience watching your videos. Nice attempt to compose the images in the less obvious way although I think that sometimes the lighthouse, despite being definitely in the picture, is too small and not so predominant, but maybe this is the effect your were seeking: describing the lighthouse in the context around it. One question: why didn't you choose a GND to highlight the clouds texture and to add a little more drama? Thanks

  • @drukinsify

    I loved your shot at 6:36. Some possibilities: longer focal length, ditch virtually all of the ocean horizon and some of the hill. If you do Photoshop, make some precision selections, then use them to do some careful dodging and burning right around the lighthouse. If the sky were darker, the lighthouse a tiny bit whiter, and the two smaller rocks having more of the colors of the big rock, the scene might be more dramatic. A little bit would go a long way. Just some thoughts for a future trip.

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback Stuart, I’ll certainly take that into account next time I go down there…and there will be a next time. I felt the ocean was an important part of the scene however I did crop one of the images where the ocean didn’t feature at all and I liked the result, cheers mate!👍

    • @stuartschaffner9744
      @stuartschaffner9744 6 років тому

      I think the ocean provides an anchor for the horizon, especially since you are taking an image looking up. I was just thinking that all you would need is one reference point like that near the edge of the image. Good luck!

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  6 років тому

      Cheers Richard, it was nice the rocks were there and I was able to extract a little colour out of some of them. They were similar in size and sharp to the Pinnacles, but I think these were granite. I’ve visited the Pinnacles during the day but never captured any images. It was during the day so the light was harsh, I think the best time is when there is soft morning or evening light. Have you shot the Pinnacles?

      Andrew Marr Nope I’ve never actually been up there at all. I had some plans to do some Astro up there the other week with a buddy but those fell through at the last minute... But hoping to get there and to some of those dunes nearby too before too long.

    Compliments on effort Andrew. Why are you crop photos so tight, beside that I think it's better to use some standard aspect ratios, on this way you've dropped almost 2/3 of the resolution. Take a little more attention to balance in term of composition too.

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  6 років тому

      Thanks for the feedback but I don't agree, I'm sharing a variety of ratios here so we can see the effect. I'm assuming you like the standard aspects ratios whereas I prefer the Pano crops for the seascape scenes U captured. I have plenty of resolution to crop so I wouldn't worry about that.

      If you do not intend to do a print, then ok. Sorry to be a bore, to which effect do you think, maybe I missed thought I was watching until the end.

      Nothing to apologise for, you are entitled to your opinion. You're right if I was printing large, I'd want to maximise the resolution. So for the panos I probably shoot a series and merge into a panoramic, particularly using the x-t2! Again I appreciate you sharing your thoughts!

    So did you improve your composition? And which one of all the shots was the 'improved' one? What is the lesson for the viewing photographer?

      Haha, yeah I made that far more confusing than what it needed to be. Hopefully, people can work it out!

    Incredible video Andrew. I love your insights and tips here. A very well put together video. I've subbed your channel and will look forward to more like this. If you get a moment i'd massively appreciate any feedback on my photography vlogs from someone like yourself. All the best, James
