wow! Not only I didn't know that it was released on Switch, but also it's already in English? That really is great. Also excellent review, looking forward for the retro reviews, they're always welcomed.
I just got this recently as one of my Christmas presents for this year and looking forward to playing this on my Switch OLED. On the subject of Cotton, she has been brought back recently as DLC along with another brand new character exclusive to this version, Remiel, and they're both available in the Japanese PSN and Nintendo eShop for ¥880 and ¥110, respectively.
First Castle Shikigami 2, now Trouble Witches - this year really has been a bad year for fans of terrible-but-awesome English VO. But this looks like a great game to pick up!
Not really, at least Shiki 2 fans can hear the terribad-awesome English VO again for the Steam version. I've put out a steam guide for it (with instructions) so that you can relive that memory, lol. But yeah, sad that Trouble Witches can't have that luxury again, lol. (That, and various script changes between versions wouldn't match if one was possible.)
Well, all I can say is...The short version: Trouble Witches is awesome, lol. However...yeah, Its been going through at least five versions of Episode 1 from 2007 up to now (2023). Those being the original PC release (2007), AC (2009) and its inclusion as a mode in later home ports, NEO (2011), Origin (2016), and Final! (2023). Also, the game will be updated in the future to include Online Co-Op (which explains the missing section in the Main Menu, since Boss Attack mode got added in a recent/current update), and a new additional character (Remiel), which Studio Siesta has recently announced has been delayed to 2/15/24 (was supposed to be 11/23/23). They've also mentioned on their socials in the past that they're gonna try releasing Final! overseas in the future, hopefully that does happen. Also, yeah, Studio Siesta used to have Episode 2 (with the subtitle ~With Decedents of Ancient Dragon the Souless~) mentioned on their site ages back. But hardly anything came out of it (other than key art of 4 new characters), and its no longer listed on their site anymore. Presumably Vaporware at this point.
@@Squirrelsquid From what I've read over Studio Siesta's socials. There are no plans at the moment to have TW Final on Steam. (Not to say its an impossiblity. But who knows down the line.)
Haha - yeah I've had a JPN PSN since PS3. I live in a McDonald's in Tokyo. It just wasn't showing up under any variation of the words in the title or even in Japanese. Someone from System11 hooked me up and told me you'd replied here. Thanks!@@StudioMudprints
I don't know; I've only been buying shooters for PS4 and PS5 whenever possible for years because of inferior performance and input delay on Switch, even moreso now that I don't get review copies. Others have said it performs very well, though.
All I've noticed is load times on switch are kinda long. It feels and looks the same to me. 15 seconds ps4- over 30 on switch. Both have online leaderboards as well
@@StudioMudprints Yeah, Final is techincally leagues better with additional stuff and changes from Origin. Cotton nonwithstanding, however, I did try Cotton in Origin, and she's busted beyond belief. (Same thing as how the DLC character Luca from NEO was. Both are too good with powerful stats.)
I paid like $25 less than it's going for now when I pre-ordered it, so I can confidently say that's not its normal price. Probably just good old low stock/high demand. Such is the curse of the Nintendo logo.
This game is HELL on UA-cam compression. That's how you know the visuals are glorious.
Another great in depth review. Keep up the great work. 🎉

Bullet heaven being back is awesome, but my wallet disagrees. Thanks for the review
As always a great review. Thanks for keeping us updated.
Never played any of these before but looks very fun!
The gameplay reminds me a bit of Akai Katana. Thanks for putting this game on my radar!

I need to get those. Big premium on Cotton though.
LFG for the REAL Bullet Heaven
Trouble Witches Episode 1 5th Revise The Final(?)!

I'm happy you are back. Amazing review, amazing game :D
I didn't even know about this version, so thanks for the review. I really enjoyed Neo on the 360.
Great Review!
Looking forward to a PC port!

"Biginners", lol
Origin calls them a "Witche"
Excellent review! Hoping for a Steam release later down the line, as I don't have PS4 or Switch.
It's possible, but Trouble Witches Origin might complicate that.
@@StudioMudprints Maybe. I already bought Origin, but honestly, the graphical upgrade would be worth it IMO. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

looks cool, i wonder if the steam game Origins is any good
It's excellent. I'd say go for it, it plays pretty much the same. And while the visuals aren't as lush, they still look great 👍
love this game
I can't find this digitally on PS4/5. Halp.
You'll need a Japanese account and a yen-based PSM card from Play Asia; don't worry, it's real easy!

How does this game perform Switch vs PS4?

So, the version available on Steam is no longer the definitive one?
I'd say this is better. I never used Cotton, so that's a non-issue to me.

I wonder why the switch version is so expensive
