I really like this one. I play it with pentatonic minor Em, position 1, 2,5. I'am a newbie but with this one it is easier to play something not annoying. Thanks
Guys please, the song is in E (major of course).......... the E minor pentatonic will fit indeed......but that is just a scale that fits as many others.....
@@johncartelli so many, E, C#, A, B, all those work for me and the only reason to change isn't a specific chord but your will of change. Really good to experiment.
Scales of E Major pentatonic to A Major Pent, to B major Pent is a way better option. It gives it a 1970's rock feel, or you can go for a really nice country feel.
@@skydog7725 To put the record straight: Blues is never in a major key, as such. If it's in the key of E (for example) but not in E minor it's simply in 'E blues', as the jazz guys would say. This allows use of minor pentatonic, major pentatonic and what I call the 'dominant scale' (myxolidian mode). The secret is to know how to mix them together to create the right effect at the right time over the 1 4 5 chorus. It took me years to figure it all out, but that's how it's done.
+Jack D. Ripper interesting points ,if anyone else wants to learn about blues guitar jam tracks try Jadonite Guitar Blues Buddy (just google it ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.
You need to learn the 5 basic pentatonic scale shapes. Once you learn those, then you apply it to what key your are playing in. IE: this backing track is in the key of E. Others might be in A,B,C,D,F, or G. Then you will understand what frets to play on.
it means superimpose minor pentatonic scales over a major chord progression, which is what the blues is mainly about when its a major 1, 4, 5 chord progression, its all about bending the minor 3rd into a major 3rd, or just playing it as is to create dissonance
Brian Greene It should read Dominant blues, instead of minor blues. Minor blues sounds completely different, man. But this is a cool backingtrack nonetheless. :)
i usually take a a track in a minor scale and in between the minor pentatonic riffs i go 3 frets down and play whatever that is in a pentatonic shape..(ex..c minor track throw in some Aminor pentatonics to change up the flavor
No. The chords played as 1,4,5 are major, so the major third i heard anyway, and in the rare cases where they are played as 5th chords the sixth played over all the chords is very suggesting of major harmony. The only reason a minor pentatoni could work, is because playing a minor third over a major chords is quite a cliche in blues.
Paul Jensen ****in blues using dominate chords like 7th. u can get away with minor or major. its the blue note that makes the clash it does not fit music theroy wise but that is what gives it the feeling. the minor major clash just play major all the time it will feel too happy. the minor adds the blues feeling. you bunch of stupid assholes
No it's an E minor blue... b minor happens to fit over that you bloody moron. only different note is the C to C#, which in a an E minor blues is the Major 3rd of A, which happens to be used in in the A7 chord. Obviously.

This is E MAJOR Blues
I don't know why everybody is having such a hard time figuring this out - E maj - DUH - and, of course E minor pentatonic fits as well.

Play mixture of E major and minor
Many other scales fit, but it sounds best to me in E Major pentatonic. Like a slow Chicago blues.

E for Effort!
I call it the Hipster March Tempo. It's the tempo that poor but hip people walk at when they've got a long way to walk.

+slyfor2 Slide down, hit a couple notes and you should be good from there. That's what I do.. I know nothing of scales or music.. Just jam is all.
Oh lawd
what's chords are being used in the track?
Something along E7, A7 and B7. I believe this backing track should be called E major but I dont know much about music theory.
I cant hear any minor here

Should read about SRV, Albert King, Bonamassa and the various others who use minor scales over major scales and vice versa.

yeah Vinnie it's the flatted 3rd that pulls the ear of people unfamiliar with the blues scale...minor note or "blue note"
Seriously, major 3th together with the 7th are the only two important notes in a dominant chord, this are 3 dominant chords...
