I love how the reporter frequently says invaders to turkish troops while turkey didnt even cared about cyprus from 1923 to 1960's. The matter is that the greeks of the island organized and aimed to unite with greece after ww2, they created an armed group, EOKA and it was basically a terrorist group. attacked turkish population ta gain control of the whole island. all countries doing same thing to protect its people but some unbiased media calls some operations for peace and others for invade.
That's partly true but Turkey ended up capturing 36% of the land and throwing Greek Cypriots out of their homes , if it was not an invasion but a defense then they would just secure the Turkish people from being attacked nothing more but what they actually did was pure invasion. I could make the Same argument about the expulsion and killing of Greek people during 1964-1965 living in Istanbul for years and being actual neighbours and friends with other Turkish people, if Greece was to "defend" them like you said you did in Cyprus and in the process capture a part of Istanbul for Greece would that also be fair?
Not an invasion. At the time, Greeks were slaughtering the Turks in an attempt to drive them out of Cyprus. However, Turkey intervened in the conflict (as a Turkish state) and rescued the Turks.
So the Turks just appeared on Cyprus did they…? Care to explain how Turks originate from Central East Asia but somehow end up all in the way in Anatolia…?
The last time there was intercommunal violence was in 1963 with 364 Turkish Cypriot dead and 174 Greek Cypriot dead. That is also why there was a UN force on the island since 1964. Turkey did not intervene to save the Turkish Cypriots but used an internal coup against the Cypriot President Makarios as a pretext/excuse for the invasion (1974) since Turkey (along with Britain & Greece) was a guarantor power, this meant that under international law Turkey could intervene to help restore the legal government & constitution. But instead of assisting the legal government against the coup what did Turkey do? It simply took control of almost half the island and never left even after the coup failed! This is the reason why the UN marked this intervention as an invasion and under international law has determined that Turkey is an occupying military force. This is also the reason why no country except Turkey acknowledges the TRNC (Turkish Cypriot "government"). An important thing to note is that President Makarios was disliked by both the Greek military Junta but most of all by the USA because he was seen as very pro-soviet, so they wanted him out of office. The USA encouraged the Greek Junta to help stage a coup against him and assured them that neither Britain nor Turkey would intervene (which was a lie).

My uncle was a veteran of this war, he was loader an M47 patton, he was in the rank of corporal, and he still describes that deafening sound when the bullet bounced off the tank.
My uncle was flying one of these helicopters during Cyprus operation. The exact number was 91. Turkish command was expecting medium level casualities and losing a part of fleet when passing Beşparmak Mountains, since the area was defended by 300-400 AA guns. It was yet a must to occupy inland roads to block Greek Guard reserves from the coast, for gaining superiority in landing line. Thus they decided to take the risk. Actually almost all helicopters were hit several times and were full of holes. But none was down, and no one was killed. Thinking similar model guns of Greek Guard successfully downed a Noratlas aircraft by friendly fire and killed 32 Greek commandos from mainland, we know that these guns were no joke. So, these helicopters were very very lucky. One of his friends also told me his own story to explain how it was a miracle. After dropping the soldiers he asked his superior to close the door, because they cannot take off fast enough to escape when doors are open, and they were under heavy fire. The officer was sitting at the back and he refused to move to open door as he was afraid. There has been a short dispute and the pilot forced him at gunpoint, telling him that as long as they are in the air mission the pilot is the one that gives orders. He could report it if he wished, when once they return to safety, but he better move his ass now. The officer finally got up from his seat and closed the door. When he hastly returned he discovered the huge AA bullet hole on the seat he was sitting just a few seconds ago. They all laughed at it for minutes and their dispute was never reported. Years later my uncle was present in a NATO meeting as personal assisstant of a high ranked officer who was his close friend of arms from that war, he also wintessed American officers cornered Turks for getting information how the hell they actually came out Başparmak without single casuality, and kept rejecting the "pure luck" explanation.
Yes it was such an invasion that villagers came up to the soldiers in order to help them carry their weapons lmao. Cyprus war was not a black and white war, it was grey.
If international community took it seriously and demanded removal of terrorist EOKA government this war was never going to happen! But they kept talking and talking without doing anything while Turkish Cypriots were executed by firing squads so Turkey launched the operation and invaded a small part of the island. It was enough to stop widespread atrocities against Turkish Cypriots but there were still a lot of atrocities and a huge list of missing Turkish Cypriots. The worse now the international community was more worried about Turkish operation than terrorist EOKA government. They again continued talking and talking with doing absolutely nothing to save Turkish Cypriots so Turkey launched second operation and captured 40% of the island which permanently stopped all atrocities. We gave every opportunity for international community to make it right and even warned them many times we would invade Cyprus instead of allowing this to happen but nobody believed nor cared so here we are. Westerners act fair towards us only when we point guns at them then they blame us for being too aggressive...

@@andrigeogiou8420 Sounds more like a war propaganda to me, physical enhancing chemicals have never been common among Turkish forces. In addition, for an operation like the one in Cyprus it wouldn't make sense for Turkish govenment to invest money on such drugs since the firepower, size of mobilization and the political stance of nations were more than enough for Türkiye to achieve it's goal, such chemicals only come into play in desperate situation and the Cyprus operation was very far from desperate for Türkiye. And I think you underestimate how much a Türk can feel comfortable in war. When we were still nomads war wasn't some exclusive event or a horrible situation, it was just another tuesday for us. Our culture is shaped by war and conflict thus war is not an unsettling time for us, for us it is our time to shine, it is our time to prove our worth, it is our time to make our nation and families back home proud. We see war as an oppurtunity, not a situation we were unwillingly forced into. When a Türk dies in war, we do not say "We are sorry for their loss.", we say "Vatan Sağolsun." which means "The nation shall live." It is considered a great honor to die in battle in our culture. Before Türks accepted Islam two of the main gods we worshipped were Kyzagan Khan and Alma Khanum, the god and goddess of war. If you were to die in battle by proving your worth it was believed that you'd become one with the gods and goddesses of Turkic culture. I am telling you all these because I want you to have the story and context behind why we can look at the face of death with a smile. It is not drugs, it is just who are and what we are. There is no video documentation of these murders. While a member of the terrorist organization EOKA, Nikos Sampson murdered two people, was connected to a further 13 killings and was set for capital punishment, but sadly the United Kingdom changed its policies in the 1950s, and the sentence was never carried out. Thankfully Sampson later sat almost two decades rotting in a Cypriot prison, followed by a painful death after a battle with cancer some years after his release. The EOKA B coup happened much later, in 1974 with collaboration with the Government of Greece that tried to illegally annex the island of Cyprus and installed a puppet government with Sampson as President, after trying to assassinate the actual President of Cyprus earlier. The murders in question happened in and around 1957. EOKA and EOKA B were two different and distinct terrorist groups, but many confuse the two and think that they are one and the same.
Although I understand that based on existing treaties Turkey should protect a part of the population, there are better ways to do so. So, when peace is restored you leave the two communities to live together in peace. As it was planned and agreed originally. You do not invade again for the 2nd time while all parts are negotiating. You don't send thousands of people to live in the island in order to change the population balance. Macarios was hugely responsible for many bad decisions. That does not justify all later Turkish actions. As Greek I'm deeply ashamed for this video anyway.
We Turks defended what is our right, we did not allow you to torture our people. how the events started and how it progressed is documented with all the evidence.we had to go to the island and protect our people to stop this injustice. We need peace in the world, not war.🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🚩🚩

How did the Turks settle in Cyprus? There are historical sources that suggest some Greek priests sent messages to the Ottoman Empire before the conquest of Cyprus. These priests conveyed the dissatisfaction of the local population with Venetian rule and sought help from the Ottomans. This situation is considered one of the factors that supported the Ottoman plans to conquer Cyprus
The Greek Cypriot EOKA terrorist organization attacked the Turks in the 1960s. They attacked Turkish villages and killed the Turks. In fact, as far as I understand, you are unaware of the existence of Greek gangs who brutally murdered the wife and 3 children of Doctor Major Nihat İlhan, who was in charge of the Turkish Regiment Command, in the bathroom. The Turkish soldier did not go to the island that day because he was bored. It is an operation by the Turkish Armed Forces against Nikos Sampson and his gang, who suspend the 1960 Cyprus constitution by a coup d'etat and do not see the Turks as equal partners of the Cyprus state, for justifiable reasons. In fact, Greek Cypriots and Greece should be grateful to Turkey. If Turkey had not made an operation, the Greeks would have been led by the EOKA mercenaries, and they would have attacked the Greeks who opposed them, not only would they have killed the Turks. In Greece, the Colonels' junta would gain power with the Nikos Sampson coup in Cyprus, and you would completely break Greece from democracy and you would now encounter a very different Greece

bs.EOKA was not a terrorist organization, it was a party that wanted Cyprus to stop being a British colony and unify with Greece. Turkey baptized it as terrorists the same way it does with Kurds, which they slaughter in order to not let them form Kurdistan. Cyprus should unite with Greece because the 78% of its population was Greek and it was what the majority wanted. Turkey invaded an island that wasn't its own because Turks were just a 18% minority and they feared a union with Greece which was what the majority of Cypriot citizents really wanted. They used intercommunal violence as an excuse (because 600 Turks died during Bloody Christmas and 500 Greeks were slaughtered by Turkish Cypriots in an event just after Bloody Christmas). And with the excuse of an event, they invaded, displaced more than the entire country's 50% population of unarmed civilians which they threw out of their houses doing ethnic cleansing, raping and killing many people. They just grabbed an island they had no right to, disrespected the people's will, slaughtered killed and did much worse crimes that they accused the Cypriots of. And still to this day, Turkey keeps this island hostage. All the other you said are brainfckn bs, just as Russia says this to justify the invasion to Ukraine.

You british with the divide and conquer policy are responsible for that. You have done similar things in India , Ireland etc. Someday you will pay for this.
It looks like that all British served on HBS in CYPRUS at that time, should be proud for there support and cooperation with the Turkish Army, have contributed a great achievements for a successful invasion, in the expense of the CYPRUS guard. I was also serving in the Cyprus guard at the time and we witnessed numerous times that not only the British, but also U.N. soldiers were giving coordinates pin pointing our positions. Do you have videos about Nikos Samson 's EOKA coup and killing of the US Nicosia Ambassador by Greco-Cypriots ?

A genocide can be stopped by an invasion. It's still an invasion regardless of the reasons why.

People are going to hate this comments, but the turkish army on pick on weak opponents in the last 50 years, they attacked Cyprus weak opponent, they attacked and helped Azerbaijan during the first with Armenia, Azerbaijan are useless, then helped them again and they finally won mostly from turkey picking on a weaker Armenia, during sadam hussein Iraq, turkey never had the balls to invade Iraqi territory they were scared , after Sadam got kicked out by the yanks they did, same for Syria, during syrian civil war then the turks had the balls to enter syrian territory, same for Libya,no balls during Gaddafi after yes they had balls to use syrian and Turkish mercs in Libya, the story here is the Turkish military only picks on weak opponents they know they can beat.
I would then say, Turks must be smart.

Same for America they invaded weak countries only, last 30 years

Powerful Türkiye Army! Always with peace, with truth and with poor and weak people around the world.
What an irony, when everything you're wrote is exactly the opposite 🙄🤣🙃😅

A terrorist country occupying European stolen lands. Go back to Central Asia.
Do you know this little thing called "history"? It's very wonderful you should check it out.
Im iranian azeri . turkey is the greatest .
of course you would think so. Let me guess you also support the Mullah regime in Iran too don't you?
It's actually wild that they did an airborne operation. Many don't realize how rare these operations are post WW2.
Cyprus is an island in close proximity of Turkey.
I do not see how they would *not* have conducted an airborne operation against such a foe in this geographical location.
This is how Turkeye saved muslims in Cyprus
Turks
Türkiye saved Turks in Cyprus
@@serhaneroglu5402 *Turkish Cypriots
It's very important to be specific on this. Turkish Cypriots are their own ethnic groups and while Turkic, are not Turks.
It's not an Invasion. It was a fight for independence and rights given by Turkey for Turkish in Cyprus and their rights.
It's an invasion, a legal invasion.
Really Perfect...
It is not invation, because it has been turkish land for 500-600 years. Greeks tried to capture it, Turkiye has recaptured it.
What the heck you talking about? Anerican Archives reveal the Truth! KISSINGER AND TURKEY PLANNED THE GREEK COUP IN GREECE AND THE CYPRUS INVASION.
Furthermore CYPRUS IS GREEK and has been FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS
Cyprus was already Turkish territory. A peace operation was carried out to stop the occupation and genocide of the Greeks.

Bullshit...
Actually it has never been specifically Turkish territory. It was Ottoman territory for over three centuries, and since 1983 there has been a de facto state called the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is 37% of the land area of the island.
Yes, the Turkish invasion was legal as per the Treaty of Guarantee, as the United Nations confirmed.
the English journalist covers the events from the Turkish side. it is clear who they supported. for everything they have done and are doing until today, the fullness of time will come and the English will pay for it.
whats even weirder, he said "why isnt the greek side firing back at us??", when he clearly showed himself and children next to the soldiers....
Good job Turkey 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
