How do you know when you have to adjust them?

The feeler gauge he's sliding in and out will start to feel pinched but not enough to stop it from sliding.

@thomasfrost6993 so I have to check it as part of regular maintenance?

@@tomasznumrych7187 It depends on the amount of use it gets. I check my lawn tractor about once every two years, some people do it or have it done once a year. If you've never done it and want to try, have someone with you who knows how to do it or watch many youtube videos from different small engine guys beforehand. Another guy who explains it well is "Taryl fixes all". I've never liked his "act" but once you skip through his skits you'll see that he's quite informative.
