Bad or low cca battery will cause alt or voltage regulator to fail Buy the name brand higher cca battery and save money 😊😊😊

I have One of these chinese engines on my snow 2014 cub cadet 24" thrower, 208 cc. Same thing, metal gas tank. The only way to beat the formation of condensation and water building up inside of the gas tank is to run ii empty and blow it out at the end of every season to make sure it is completely dry and Totally empty including the carb. I learned after the first season and now I never have a problem. I belieVe , the problem will be traced to the fact that the metal heats up and cools down quickly plus the gas tank is sealed by the gas cap , which causes condensation to form every single day that there is a weather change, especially temperatures. Engineers refer to this point as thermodynamic condensation. Thanks mark for highly informative video, And you always do a great job! 👍👍👍

Nice job! Had a similar problem a few years ago on a Troy-bilt Pony w/Courage engine. They'd replaced the VR w/aftermarket one, when it started it would immediately blow the fuse. Pulled the flywheel and the stator/alternator was burned, almost melted in several places. Replaced it with a salvage one and the fuse. It's been running ever since! Great work! From Sophia, N.C.

Someone attempted to fix but customers plays dumb. Happens to me a lot and my customers always play dumb BUT one day a friend of mine was over and he saw what I was working on and said his neighbor just put a different carb on that same mow a week ago. So you never know.

This the same process for the 24 and 25 HP ones I assume? 2008 Exmark Quest with a 24Hp Briggs 44000 series engine.

Tell your customers to keep those batteries on a trickle charger when they are not being used. It will extend the life of the batteries considerably.

Bearing marke 2Z or double sealed never regrease. Buy New and replace it.

I would be willing to bet my 20 year career that the problem was NOT the stator windings. The problem was the voltage regulator that you replaced along with it. In your diagnosis, you tested the voltage from the stator with a DC tester light to battery, DC ground. The voltage coming out of the stator is AC, about 36 volts. You have to test that with an AC meter ACROSS the two pin connector coming from the stator with the engine running. If you get ~36 volts, that is good. It is RARE for that to be bad as opposed to the regulator. Plus, you have to test the red wire from the regulator with the engine not running and the key turned on to make sure that the regulator is actually seeing the 12 volts from the battery. Because if there is a broken wire, a bad ignition switch or a blown fuse, then the regulator will not put out the expected 14 volts, either. I'm sorry, but if people follow this, they are going to go through a LOT of unnecessary work. And if they just replace the stator (because most people are not going to have a boneyard where they have a stator and regulator - they are going to go buy one), they are going to be out that time and money for no reason. And just as a matter of semantics, that is not an alternator like you keep calling it. Alternator rotate. Stators stay stationary.

Check the resistance between known good and known failed. Needed a crank seal.

The blue belt will last a long time but it’s hard to explain that when they see the 18 buck cheap 💩 😊

I know you had it lifted in the air. But it appeared to be leaking gas or another fluid. Might want to check that out. To insure there isn't another problem. Before giving, it back to the customer.
