Same architecture as the 7.25 hp Briggs and Stratton installed in our 1962 Simplicity 725 garden tractor. i was eight when I had to learn to mow our 28 acre "estate" and hook up and snow blow the driveway in those cold Connecticut winters. I was amazed with the delco generator/starter. That engine got me up to sixteen years old with nary a complaint. I maintained it diligently.

I Just replace The Bearings out of the original Spindle housing and is cheaper than he knock off's, That is if you did not break the Housing. LOL

Now that is not very old, I have one 8 hp on my old compressor, bought in 74/75 😊😊 I’m 73

I fixed one of those portable air movers years ago with that same engine. Mine was a lot older and used a solid metal fuel line from tank to carb. I had to do a carb rebuild, new points, oil and plug change and a valve job because it had a stuck intake valve. Valves were held in with little pins through the valve keepers. After all was said and done, fired first pull every time.

If you go to a bearing supply house they will tell you the ones with the metal covers are called “shielded” and normally are used in an environment that is harsh and would rip the rubber covers off of a bearing called “sealed”

Approximately 20 years ago the blade spindles on my John Deere 111H made in 1980, finally wore out. I wanted to put a larger diameter spindle in them using precision ground water hardening drill rod left in the unhardened state. This required different size bearings then were originally in the housing as well as some lathe work on each end. I removed the rubber seal on both the top and lower bearings on the inside as you did, and added a grease zerk in the middle of the housing pumping it completely full. (There were no zerks at all originally!!). I was worried about pressure so I added a tiny weep hole on each bearing seal. That mower has cut grass ever since. I grease it once a year in the fall and it takes very little. It’s probably one of the last 111’s to be cutting grass almost 45 years later.

I also drill and tap them and remove inside covers, zerts are worth the extra time and effort 😊

None of them rather oem or not have timkin bearing in them So I ask them what grade do they want and the price difference 😊

It's chinese junk. And it's not just the different grade of aluminum that's used but rather different grades of metal throughout the entire unit. The Chinese cheat on their production of metals and do not follow the American iron and steel institute guidelines for chemical content of different metals. They simply will not hold up even with the additional grease. People are angry because they are ignorant and choose to be ignorant. Also, Wednesday sell the refurbishment of the mower deck.They all only give it a 30 day.Or no guarantee whatsoever so the customer takes all of the risk. People are liars and cheaters especially many small engine mechanics. It's chinese junk!

I think it’s just personal preference. I like to pack them full myself. They’re supposed to be sealed and the metal covers are dust covers that will allow grease to get in. Great video and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

You are right about the finish of the spindle housing can tell if it is worth the money 🤑💰 you pay for them

I have a new excite 350 belt drive belt keeps coming off. I took it to the dealer and he found small chunks of a limb down in the pully. Next time I used it belt jumped off again. No limbs around in my yard I got the belt back on and cranked it up belt jumped off again. I bought this new mower to keep the yard cut worry free but turned into a lot of work so far. Anyone having the same problem?

Some good pro tips on that video. Run the lines through the double wall. Plus testing the primer lines before you bolt on the carburetor. I have switched those up before!

Really nice repair mark! Personally , I'd be afraid to run it until I checked the oiler, Cleaned out the cutting area, Cleaned and check the bar, And sharpened the Blade as you plan to do.

I posted on our local forum last year that I was looking for any unwanted chainsaws so I could learn repair. I received about 30 in two weeks. Some were Poulan some were Husqvarna and all in between. I've been having a blast getting these going again. It's channels like yours that have helped............a lot.

Quick question on a saw that old wouldn't you start with a compression check and maybe scope the cylinder walls wow you just jumped to the carburetor

I had a Mac timber Bear chain saw back in the day got it from Lowe's before they went out of business
