Breakers Breaks The Narrative

  • The Breakers Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, is the archetypal gilded age structure. History gives us a two year build time in the 1890's, exposing the conventional narrative as a deception, in my opinion. What do you think?

What a stunner! What is amazing to me is, the opulence is not only mind-blowing, but I speculate all the detail on the walls, ceilings and floors had a function first, whether as energy capacitors, insulators, etc. The gold leaf and copper certainly holds a charge, as well as the water fountains, etc. Everything was so divinely ordered and harmonious. Though it seems frivolous to our pecuniary addled modern brains, I think it was just another day at the palace for them. And then the cymatics, acoustics, etc. Thank you! Awesome work as always!

the construction picture at its best only proves the obvious fact we already knew, that the building was constructed. it doesn't explain any of the main questions: who constructed, how constructed and where is all the infrastructure and education required to complete this among all the other similar buildings everywhere. and considering the timestamp of the picture: it's just text. it could have been written at any point of history, it doesn't prove the actual construction date. and suppose it was correct: 1894 of what timeline? was it 130 years ago or at some other point of history and cycle they called 1894? how many years ago that was? and the construction time of 2 years leaves us with two possibilities: either it's a lie, or the builders had whole branch of technology AND expertise hidden from us. one doesn't even draw all the details in the mansion in 2 years. that's right: every single detail had to be designed before completion. then manufacture all the required items and then actually construct it, which takes us back to square 1 of this comment.

These 'cottages' were built in the mid-late 19th century (1850-1899). I have worked as a caretaker in the Breakers as well as several other of the mansions under the care of the Preservation Society of Newport County. I have no doubt that the Breakers was built in two years. One of the reasons houses like this were able to be built so quickly back then was a lack of regulation with home building. While the ornamentation is impressive and there is an insane quantity of carved wood and stone, a large amount of the decorative architectural elements are molded plaster. It can appear to be stone or wood with the right texture and paint. Plaster molding allows you to produce incredibly detailed decoration much more quickly and easily than carving real stone or wood. The Vanderbilts had the means to import skilled artisans and their work from Europe as well as utilize the local craftsmen. Humans had been building grand structures such as these for centuries prior to the technological advances of the industrial revolution. Places like the Breakers are a massive, expensive headache to maintain which is a huge contributing factor as to why we don't build structures like this today.
P.S. youre missing out on a lot of really cool REAL history (morning room ( 8:39 ) has platinum walls, theres an underground tunnel that leads from the basement of the main house to the basment of the gatekeepers cottage, some rooms have wall panels that were imported from failing European palaces, etc.)

@@PacificNorthwest360 im not totally sure. I'd imagine the well established architecture firms the wealthy industrialists were using had access to the most skillful craftsmen from western Europe and America. The architects designing these mansions in America studied architecture in European universities or at least would have visited the most important architectural works in Europe. There they would have most likely come into contact with artisans or individuals who knew the artisans that were building palaces for european royalty/nobility.

Considering how little historicity there was of Jesus only 2000 years ago if he did exist he was very minor and borrowing from earlier themes of prophets, the "original" in my opinion was a very long time ago. When I was very young my 70 year old great grandfather was the oldest person I knew. A lot of this artistry is done in advanced for years, when finished its all put together like a puzzle. That is why it is said to have taken 2 years, when in fact it took decades to create the puzzle pieces. Just saying.😮

Old world did you notice the symbolism in the house? The carp spitting water, etc? If you want to leave your mouth open in shock, check out the Old Tampa Bay Hotel
Here in Tampa. Dripping with clues and symbolism

Why does everyone act like the people back in this time was unintelligent? You know quantum mechanics was theorized in 1899? So I'm sure they knew how to build mansions.

    • @itsallperfectlynormal9805

It's not about intelligence. It's about material availability, transport of said materials, trained workforce given population figures that we are told, and the preposterous assertions these mansions were constructed in ridiculously short time frames. It's clear people were far more technologically advanced and by extension, intelligent.
