- Experience an amazing day of Yellowfin Tuna feeding frenzies with us at Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge!!
June 1, 2015 about 5 miles from Isla Montuosa, on our boat the TOP Cat, we came across a massive area of Porpoises and Yellowfin Tunas that had a few different kinds of bait fish balled up and were feeding on them at the surface. Watch as I filmed three different frenzies we came across that afternoon and hooked up into some nice fish! Crazy action as we run up right next to the boil on purpose....to get our baits on top of the fish as soon as possible. The Tunas here do not tend to be skiddish late in the season and it is no problem running the boat right close to the feed. What an experience! Only in Panama!!!

Where I'm from it's really bad fishing to charge a ball of fish like that, you set up ahead and let them come to you and they won't all be spooked. I was surprised how they all stayed up as you went right through the center of the ball! Panama's fishing is very different and seems awesome!

We had a bunch of older gentleman that were not interested in popping or fighting a big Tuna on a spinning rod....instead we slow trolled live baits on the conventional reels. Thanks for commenting!

I am fisher myself and I like to point out that fish also feel pain like other vertebrates(for example birds and mammals) does and fish should be treated properly and without unnecessary pain and suffering.
All fish that are caught for eating must be handled carefully to reduce stress and humanely killed as soon as possible after capture. Humane killing requires that the fish is stunned (rendered instantaneously insensible) before being bled out.
Percussive stunning involves a forceful and accurate blow to the head with a blunt instrument. The force required will depend on the size of the fish. The blow should be aimed just above the eyes to impact on the brain. The effectiveness of the stun should be checked and another blow applied if the fish is not unconscious. After stunning the fish should be bled out by cutting the gill rakers or, with larger fish, a main artery.
With the very small fish breaking the neck is good way to kill. Just put your thumb or other finger to the mouth of the fish and quickly make a move upwards.
All this is important because fish also feel pain and suffer. Pain and suffer of the feeling animals must be minimized.
When the fish is in pain and suffering, the fish also produce stress hormone. Stress hormone makes the meat of the fish taste worst and stress hormone also reduce keeping quality.
