Seriously ? Alternating current ? Literaly everything you do with electricity today, EVERYTHING, is because of alternating current. Why is Tesla so underrated ?
+Simas Alekna I do believe it is because Tesla did not massify his inventions by himself as much as other inventors. The usual contrasting inventor, Edison, as example, always found a way to make a profit, and thus, manufacture in mass, pretty much anything that his laboratory spawned. Be it lightbulbs, phonographs or whatever. Tesla's inventions instead inspired other inventors, and served as the foundation to further inventions, Marconi being a big example. In my opinion, power distribution if probably one of the least important functions of AC. Since prior to it becoming the rule, DC electrical grids operated properly. The war of the currents' fame is probably due to electrical grids being what AC was mostly useful for back then (late nineteeth century, afaik). However, AC is the foundation of wireless communication (which happened later on). So, if anything that had the wireless on it's esence had been on this list, Tesla probably would have most likely shown his face on this video. Even so, alternating current was not Tesla's invention. It was already known before he was even born. He however did lots of research on it, and played a huge role on the understanding of it, and spreading it's use. And I don't think he is underrated. He's probably the most popular inventor in modern culture. I cannot think of anybody else as respected and beloved by the masses. Due to the internet, he may even be more famous today than Edison was on his day. Needless to say that Edison has fallen almost into infamy (for whatever reason, be it real or not) since pretty much the mere act of mentioning him make people complain about it.
+MisterTalkingMachine Look up "Charles Proteus Steinmetz" He's the man, he came up with the formulas the world uses to control electricity, some of his formulas were so complicated they couldn't be proven until the super computer was invented. Edison created the first mass produced bulb how ever of we speak about the invention there are multiple people that worked on the idea. What?! The first movable type METAL printing press was invented in the Goryeo dynasty of Korea in the year of 1235. The Koreans invented their independent phonetic alphabet in the early 1400s -whish resulted in printing books using only 24 letters compared to the 26 lettered Roman alphabet. The oldest remaining book that was printed in this press is the Goryeo dynasty book, 'Nahmmyhung Cheonhwa Sahngsong Jhengdogah', printed in the year of 1239. Books were abundant and even common within the Korean middle class. The reason why the press succeeded in Europe was because of the Creative Renaissance-environment unlike the conservative nature of Confucianism which was dominating Korea at the time.
***** Well, that is the well known one - but a new book was found quite recently. Many historians confirmed it as well. The untranslated name of the book is: 남명천화상송증도가
Wandrative that is awesome, but latin letters are easier. just saying. and I'm Russian who use the cyrillic alphabet which is a bitch to write (from time taken per letter - and yes Russian has cursive writing but that just turns into something resembling wavy lines).
That's the joke :) In the the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy it says the answer to life, the universe and everything is 42. That's where he got the name ;)
Jet IceBane Lightsabers are reckless and dangerous weapons by saying "dangerous" I mean not only for the enemy but the one who possesses them as well they would be of no use in the battlefield trust me
They have already been invented by a man in Japan (forgot his name) but if 2 of them are clashed together they will produce an explosion the size of that of an atomic bomb. They are simply too lethal if terrorists get a hold of 2 of those sabers. Entire cities can be annihilated by that effect. Trust me, if there was a safe way to use them, they'd be in mass production years ago.
I hate to tell you this Thoughty2 but the internet has been around since the 1960s but it was redefined in 1989 so that everyone could use it. It wasn't until the mid 90s to the early 2000s that it became popular and it's popularity has been growing ever since.
yet, mispronounces ANYTHING not originating from "da muvah lahnd". QUITE educational P.S. Watch their latest vids, you'll see they STILL could care less about teaching us PROPER pronunciation (let alone accurate and credited sources), AND even go as far as to BASH "THE Americans" (not specifying NORTH American, just ALL Americas), in.... well, ANY way they deem "fit". Even when it makes absolutely NO sense. This channel really has devolved A LOT "Sharing knowledge" does NOT entail attacking other countries for ones short-comings
Nah, if your BRITISH (ONLY), you hear what you are SUPPOSED to hear. "TH"oughty-two... It most CERTAINLY is NOT "PH"aughty too. SHEESH, airen't yoo CULTURED enoo"f" to know "v"at "v"ere aire o'er FORTY diarlucts of "v"e BYUT-FYL BWITIS lahngwage!?!
Thomas Edison? Are you shure that it isnt Nikola Tesla? By the way ... its not that im supporting him because i live in Serbia and because he was Serbian ... Nikola Tesla was doing research on the field of electrical curent, he had a lot of inventions that run on AC curent, and he also "made" the first powerplant in America In the video you said that Thomas Edison made the first (long lasting, acfordable..... and so on) light bulb...but that invention didnt change the world, and it wouldnt even be possible without Teslas inventoin of the lghtbulb ..... I know that theyre both GREAT scientist and people ,but i wanted to put that out ... :) (Sorry for bad English ♥)
This guy beats out Vsauce every single time. This is is the best List Channel that I have ever come across. The episodes are well-written, well-researched, and the narrator actually knows how to narrate. List25, Origins Explained, Vsauce, Veratiserum, Strange Mysteries, Dark 5 - Thoughty2 kicks their asses all over the internet. This is the only List Channel where you really will learn something you never knew from every episode and that doesn't become tiresome beyond all belief after about 20 episodes.
@zreaks kill myself because 99% of the population are dumbed- down, borderline retarded half- wits? Lmao it's amazing, the unintelligence displayed by such a simple statement. Explain yourself.
@Cunny Also, if you want to be like that, feel free to tell me how the human race is "intelligent". I would love to know your defense as to how you positively justify humanity destroying everything and turning the world into a giant shopping mall filled with mindless, consumer idiots. Inbred corporate landscapes and a system so fucked up, it can't even begin to be described.
@Cunny You're proving my point. My point is that I'm one of the few intelligent people on the planet, so of course I will be "relatively lonely" (unless I want free entertainment, in which case I will strike up conversations with people like you for fun)! But, I enjoy it! I don't need comforting from other people. Being "insulted" by you is like being talked down to by a little toddler. You can say all the mindless bullshit you want but until you prove what you're saying, you look intensely stupid. And what? My existence? Don't even act like you know shit about existence, like you're some fucking guru who knows how the world works. As if you know what's good and bad, and what the future holds. You imply some underlying point that "life is a precious gift" that I'm missing out on because I chose to remove myself from society. I didn't ask to be born. I just became alive, without my consent. I have every right to be pissed off by the dumb- cunts like you that make this overpopulated planet so shitty. The truth doesn't have to be happy, bitch.
Yeah, someone with a high reading level or someone who cares to make a meaningful point would read in it's entirety! Also, prove it. I'll make my messages short for now on, so that you can comprehend. I'll also stop using big words.
I know this is a 3 month old comment, but I really need to correct this stupidity I like Tesla, don't get me wrong, but he hadn't even moved to America when Edison started selling lightbulbs. Tesla made his own lightbulbs with no filaments, but that was after Edison made his own design. Tesla didn't invent the lightbulb.
that doesn't clear up any stupidity mate.....why would Tesla's moving to American have anything to do with the invention of lightbulbs? I am not saying either of them did it first but it isn't a clear cut piece of history. You are from the USA I presume, so you have been taught "American" history in the way that the government wants you to be taught. I'm from Australia, we got taught that we played a really great and important part in WW1 and WW2....both of which are not true (taking nothing away from the sacrifice of the Australians that fought) but I now live in in Europe.....people here didn't even know the Aussie's where in the war at all apart from a few small villages around France, oh and of course the battle at Gallipoli in Turkey - where we were taught that we played a huge part, well we actually used as cannon fodder by the British military.....go read some non American books burst out of your bubble and expand your horizons. cheers!
They should've hired Thoughty 2 to be the next Sherlock Holmes. He looks more the part than Benedict. And he has the intelligence and a great accent to do it.
Thanks for the clickbait thumbnail, You know, it’s always great to be tricked That’s the thing people like to have happen to them the most in life. You’re certainly not an extremely shitty person if you purposefully trick people...
EXACTLY what I've been trying to tell people... This channel CLAIMS to be educational.. but he does WHATEVER he can to make ANYTHING as BRITISH as possible. Even going as far as bashing other countries (well, "THE Americas" specifically.. He can't even get THAT right though, cause he is referring to it as ALL Americas, not just NORTH as he intends). He's even LYING to his viewers CLAIMING, that ENGLAND is "the States".... yet, I thought it was comprised of regions/provinces... those are differently defined than, a nation's "state(s)". This channel is NOT educational, it HAS a political agenda, "BAHSH DA AMEWICAS" (seriously how he'd pronounce this.... sounds like my 3rd grader xD)
It still makes me laugh when they attribute the discovery of penicillin to a man. Midwives had been using it for centuries but I guess it isn't a real thing until a man says it is. 1971?! What is he going on about with computers? There were decades of commercial computer usage before the personal computer! What made him bypass all that? The first computer was built in WWII by the UK to decode the Enigma machine of the Nazis. As far as this old main frame computer programmer goes he just did a HUGE fail!
from my understanding the midwives applied mold compresses and moldy bread to wounds, but didn't really use "penicillin" which is the isolated agent that can safely be applied into the body and bloodstream. Though the application of the mold did help prevent infections in wounds, that was its sole use, which is a lot less impressive then what penicillin did. It wasn't until the agent was isolated and mass-produced that it saved so many lives and could be used to arrest huge bacterial infections that had already spread through the body, made it beyond wounds, or infected humans through other means, such as air or ingestion. Penicillin used in this way was unprecedented. Before, there was nothing you could do for people with large bacterial infections except hope their immune systems eventually fought it off. Sir Alexander Fleming saved many lives by his research that couldn't be saved before, don't make this about sexism just because he didn't mention a prior reference. ;) You are right about computers though, I wondered why he skipped the commercial computer development as well. I guess he feels the personal computer was what really revolutionized things, bringing all that productivity and power to everyone.
what do you mean waste it on him because hes smoking? and they didnt always know smoking was bad, doctors were originaly paid off to promote smoking as even helping asthma
Not just doctors actually. For the longest time cigarettes were massively advertised as common wonder drug, keeps you young, makes you thinner, helps keep the skin healthy. I believe only once the whole law with false advertising passed ads like that stopped being so open, now they have to try it more secretively, subverting it with pop culture pictures, movies, anything they can really. It's just advertising when it comes down to it
Fire wasn't just useful for heat, it kept predators at bay and also began the revolution of cooking food making it easier to digest and contributed to the growth of our brains.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS CHANNEL. normal channels would just say in their 5 minute videos ''yeah electricity'' goes on to the next thing, but this guy explains it in depth ;D
I think the invention of writing was more important than the invention of the printing press, also the invention of rolling heavy large objects (stones) over a number of logs is more important than the axial-driven wheel. Without the log-rolling invention the wheel would never have been invented and without the invention of writing the printing press would never have been invented. And yes @Zondaar_Verlosser, without the microscope the inventor of penicilline would never have been able to see the effects on bacteria
The atlatl is what allowed us to hunt so efficiently that the wooly mammoth soon went extinct. Mammoth was the literal fuel source that powered mankind's intercontinental migration. If not for the atlatl we'd still be living in caves lol
I enjoy these videos. This guy is adorable and I kind of want to sit and chat with him about all this interesting stuff he talks about in his videos. Most of my random knowledge (that I don't research for fun online) comes from these videos. :) Thank you Thoughty2 for being an entertaining and interesting channel
Worlds next "huge" inventions would be 1. Faster than light travel (exploration of space) 2. Portable nuclear power (or some other more powerful energy source. This will be needed if we ever want to have flying cars like in star wars, jet packs, light sabers, and most other futuristic devices).
you might want to tell your editor that the power stations that were put in during the "combustion engine out dated steam " thing was on are actually still run on steam .. nuclear and coal power stations use steam to spin the turbines to create the power.
What race has made the most important inventions that changed the world e.g. engine, mass production, computer, internet, electric, telephone, radar, airplanes, trains, morse code, space flight, medicine, medical advancements etc?
Cardboard: Change shipping, before cardboard freight was shipped in wooden crates. Pallet: Enable freight to be easily removed from railroad cars. Shipping container: Made unloading of freight from ships quicker.
The person who invented the wheel, if he/she sees the future, he/she will be crying in joy and feeling proud that his/her invention is very useful in today's world too
we were bumbling around in caves for 50,000,000 years. playing with fire for 1,000,000 years. stabbing each other for 500,000 years. doing so in armor for 5,000 years. shooting each other for 500 years. flying to the moon for 30 years. today, we're creating elements and warp bubbles. Why the change of pace?
Because we haven't gotten to the stage where we release devastating synthetic viruses on each other and vaporize each other at a molecular level yet. Don't worry, war isn't going away, it's just getting more risky.
Man, I know fire has been around since the beginning of time(probably before lol) but I had no idea humans started using it around 1.8 million years ago.
funny that at 4:01 you show a video of long tail boats in Krabi, Thailand to demonstrate use of a compass. but they don't need or use one as it's all line of sight navigation there
The reason wheels where not invented until quite late was due to the fact they where not a solution to any problems at the time. Basically there where not any roads, or practical implications for them. It was only when long established paths where wheel accessible, it became a great solution.
Ok, so what about that clickbait thing in the thumbnail? I would think that being able to smoke in the rain was a monumental achievement in mankind's development.
How could you not put AC (Alternating Current) on the list! Tesla made the modern world by making AC, this HEAVILY used today in just about everything that is electronics. Anyway, great video as usually and keep up the work! =3
Surely the invention of literacy is more important than printing. Suddenly you can learn a whole person's gained knowledge in just a few days; it surely advanced humanity more rapidly than any other invention.
Hold on a minute, 1. There is no link between the difference engine and an electronic computer, the people at Bletchley during the war deserve some credit for that. 2. Tesla deserves credit for making the national grid possible
Seriously ? Alternating current ? Literaly everything you do with electricity today, EVERYTHING, is because of alternating current.

I think the inventor for the Microscope also deserves a mention. Anton van Leeuwenhoek
true, before that people didn't understand why we got sick. People thought it was god's hand
Especially because he only stated 9
Nice thought.
The age of glass is HUGE!
Yh man.I really needed this for my penis.
you lost me at Edison. Tesla is the rightful owner of that place.
The actual inventor of the lightbulb as Joseph Swan tho
Idea was invented by tesla. Edison was able to harness it to make it more powerful and less costly. So while he is not the creator of the lightbulb. He is the father of the first generally practical one.

where da hell is Tesla? :)
ikr ... tesla is freaking awesome .. the spiral lightbulbs (the ones that use less wattage then edisons) can trace there designs back to teslas bulb
He did not change the world.

edison wasnt the inventor
He heavily improved it to what we know today.
not really
DerUnbekannte Yes actually you can google it.
alot of the stuff on the internet is wrong
DerUnbekannte Same with Tesla
Tesla is absent from history! Why?
Because he was way ahead of his time and free energy would be bad for the energy business. As he once said, "The present is yours but the future is mine."
That would make him one of the most humble and greatest people of all time.Hail Tesla.
many give him credit with inventing radio and of course alternating current makes the world go around.
It was in fact Tesla who was the first (if not one of the first) to dream of an idea of a wireless connection. He dreamed of free wireless electricity supply for everyone. that thief Edison never invented electric bulbs...
He invented the first bulb that was cheap enough to produce the other dude forgot the name sorry his was to expensive for production thats why

@@EL-J3ff didn't Tesla make the bulb but Edison stopped funding him and stole the patent ?
@@ms2k7Gaming he did not steal it he made it better 😉
Thomas Edison, didn't invent the lightbulb , he just was first to patent it, and to make one cheaper
So many lies here. One Graham Bell stole the phone patent from Italy and the light bulb was stolen from Nikola Tesla.
I don't know of Bell invented the light bulb, and Tesla did make his own designs after Bell, but the first light bulb sure as hell wasn't made by Tesla.
Tesla had a lot of things stolen from him, but the light bulb isn't one of them

***** You think so? :) I guess it is a failure of knowledge 'marketing' . Sadly, it's kinda hard to find that information.
MrTJMishRat
I can read both English and Korean. IMHO, neither Latin letters nor Korean letters are easier then the other.
The printers was invented during the humanist period , around 1400 after JC.
Does anyone else hear him say 42 instead of Thoughty 2?
+Jacob Barlow The answer to life, the universe and everything!
That's the joke :) In the the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy it says the answer to life, the universe and everything is 42. That's where he got the name ;)
Yea
Well, he does have a bit of a speech impediment
@@StevenJM1988 I don't think it's a speech impediment, he's just British.
The soldier in the hospital bed smoking a cigarette. CLASSIC!
What about the Turing Machine? :/
+DwagonHD yeah, we would have no computers whitout the Turing Machine, and we still dont completely understand the things we could do with it
+DwagonHD what is the turing machine?
+DwagonHD Turing machine was a decoding machine for enigma not a computer. It was not the first of it's kind and was quite criticized for it's time
Charles Babbage was a long time before the Turing Machine
Or the language
Just what will be the next big invention that will change the world?
gh0strec0n141 there is its called a spork!
sustainable nuclear fusion is my bet
George Connett don't leave out fission! Fission is the opposite of fusion fyi.
Ewan Foley We can already do fission that's where all our current nuclear power comes from
Thought it was fusion we had. I'm going to kill the guy that told me that we had fusion under control!
when will we invent lightsabers
I can't wait
although I'm pretty sure I will kill myself accidentally within 5 minutes of playing with it
Jet IceBane Lightsabers are reckless and dangerous weapons by saying "dangerous" I mean not only for the enemy but the one who possesses them as well
they would be of no use in the battlefield trust me
They have already been invented by a man in Japan (forgot his name) but if 2 of them are clashed together they will produce an explosion the size of that of an atomic bomb. They are simply too lethal if terrorists get a hold of 2 of those sabers. Entire cities can be annihilated by that effect. Trust me, if there was a safe way to use them, they'd be in mass production years ago.
Jackal head trust me nobody here would use them for battle
DatGuy If it's not for battle then what would be their purpose??
I hate to tell you this Thoughty2 but the internet has been around since the 1960s but it was redefined in 1989 so that everyone could use it. It wasn't until the mid 90s to the early 2000s that it became popular and it's popularity has been growing ever since.
Gotta say it, LOVED the soundtrack on this episode haha.
65 views, 82 ratings... youtube your drunk.
You are new here arent you welcome
UA-cam owns a drunk?
Ahmed Merdan no, im not new here xD

"Are you sure this is the "Information Age?"
You’ve come a long well deserved way bro!! ❤️
You talked about "sharing knowledge." That's what YOU do on UA-cam. Thank you!
yet, mispronounces ANYTHING not originating from "da muvah lahnd". QUITE educational
P.S. This channel really has devolved A LOT
"Sharing knowledge" does NOT entail attacking other countries for ones short-comings
fire discovered 2 mill years ago
we still use it now
hey 42 here
Nah, if your BRITISH (ONLY), you hear what you are SUPPOSED to hear. "TH"oughty-two... It most CERTAINLY is NOT "PH"aughty too.

pieces of the internet have been around since the 1960's. look up arpanet
once again great video man
9:28 i like that happy cured man with a cigarette in hand lol =)
Why no mention of indoor plumbing?
The guys were out in the "little brown shack" out back
Isn't ground breaking enough.
Forgot toilets. Otherwise we would be pretty sick right now
correct me if im right but sailors couldnt guide themselves by the position of the sun and stars at night?
True, but ARPANet was only used by the military and the goverment
fascinating as usual. Keep up the good work, up North!
The first typing machine was invented in either Korea or Japan, they used glass type, Gutenberg invented the metal type.
Konrad Zuse invented the computer! Get your facts right.
Thomas Edison?
Are you shure that it isnt Nikola Tesla?
By the way ... its not that im supporting him because i live in Serbia and because he was Serbian ...
Nikola Tesla was doing research on the field of electrical curent, he had a lot of inventions that run on AC curent, and he also "made" the first powerplant in America
In the video you said that Thomas Edison made the first (long lasting, acfordable..... and so on) light bulb...but that invention didnt change the world, and it wouldnt even be possible without Teslas inventoin of the lghtbulb .....
I know that theyre both GREAT scientist and people ,but i wanted to put that out ... :)
(Sorry for bad English ♥)
Yeah nikola tesla is a hero he made electricity fuck Thomas edison
ZXxsniperMsrXx true story! wish i could get that meme but cant bother somone do it for meh pls too lazy

Well Telsa's lightbulb lasting 12 hours .3.
Mike Campbell no the guy from how i met your mother you the caption is true story hes holding a wine glass or something
you should rename your channel 42
Its so awesome to see as a Norwegian the so many use these symbolic soundtracks like the one at the end of the video
Edison invented nothing.
well he invented taking credit from others achievements
No he invented lies
*Yes he did*
He invented a lot of things
Just one thing. Electric chair for execution. All the others were Tesla's inventions. God I hate him so much
Porn also changed the world... just sayin
Well... You're not wrong, I'll be the first to say...
After two years of your comment being here.
"Intelligent" species. Right...
Kamerun LaBrier So edgy.
What about pasteurization? That saved countless lives from 1892 to present day. I remembered that from my history class. You still rock thoughty2!
The bicycle is one of the best inventions. They're so great.
Tesla*
what about the airplane
wright bros
Nikola Tesla invented the Lightbulb, not Thomas Edison..
I know this is a 3 month old comment, but I really need to correct this stupidity
I like Tesla, don't get me wrong, but he hadn't even moved to America when Edison started selling lightbulbs. Tesla made his own lightbulbs with no filaments, but that was after Edison made his own design. Tesla didn't invent the lightbulb.
Erik M. None of them did. It was someone else. Joseph Swan.
saleh moradi he said that Thomas Edison created the first PRACTICAL light bulb
that doesn't clear up any stupidity mate.....why would Tesla's moving to American have anything to do with the invention of lightbulbs? I am not saying either of them did it first but it isn't a clear cut piece of history. You are from the USA I presume, so you have been taught "American" history in the way that the government wants you to be taught. I'm from Australia, we got taught that we played a really great and important part in WW1 and WW2....both of which are not true (taking nothing away from the sacrifice of the Australians that fought) but I now live in in Europe.....people here didn't even know the Aussie's where in the war at all apart from a few small villages around France, oh and of course the battle at Gallipoli in Turkey - where we were taught that we played a huge part, well we actually used as cannon fodder by the British military.....go read some non American books burst out of your bubble and expand your horizons. cheers!
what determines "Practical", I'm sure anything and everything has some practicability....
They should've hired Thoughty 2 to be the next Sherlock Holmes. He looks more the part than Benedict. And he has the intelligence and a great accent to do it.
Thanks for the clickbait thumbnail,
You know, it’s always great to be tricked
That’s the thing people like to have happen to them the most in life.
This channel is NOT educational, it HAS a political agenda, "BAHSH DA AMEWICAS" (seriously how he'd pronounce this.... sounds like my 3rd grader xD)
acually thomas edison didnt invent the light bulb NICHOLAS TESLA DID
This is true, but edison made the first commercially viable light bulb
*Nikola* Tesla. No one is called "Nicholas" in Croatia. That's like saying "Nikola Cage is a great actor."
+Ewan Flean But Tesla is actually Serb
Aleksa Dinic I'm pretty sure that he's a croat
It still makes me laugh when they attribute the discovery of penicillin to a man. Midwives had been using it for centuries but I guess it isn't a real thing until a man says it is.
1971?! What is he going on about with computers? There were decades of commercial computer usage before the personal computer! What made him bypass all that? The first computer was built in WWII by the UK to decode the Enigma machine of the Nazis. As far as this old main frame computer programmer goes he just did a HUGE fail!
Because you should never trust something that bleeds for 7 day's and lives!
from my understanding the midwives applied mold compresses and moldy bread to wounds, but didn't really use "penicillin" which is the isolated agent that can safely be applied into the body and bloodstream.
Sir Alexander Fleming saved many lives by his research that couldn't be saved before, don't make this about sexism just because he didn't mention a prior reference. ;)
You are right about computers though, I wondered why he skipped the commercial computer development as well. I guess he feels the personal computer was what really revolutionized things, bringing all that productivity and power to everyone.
I'm pretty sure he's talking about Personal Computers, not he one made by Mr. Alan Turing.
Hey Thoughty2! Excellent touch at the end of this video!
I honestly think the bow and arrow deserves the 2nd place instead of the wheel.
Australia invented wifi
Technology is ruining us
Billie joe The 4th technology helped you type this comment 😂
9:32 That guy is smoking so why waste penicilin
(How ever you spell it 😂)
what do you mean waste it on him because hes smoking? and they didnt always know smoking was bad, doctors were originaly paid off to promote smoking as even helping asthma
WTF? Really?????
Not just doctors actually. For the longest time cigarettes were massively advertised as common wonder drug, keeps you young, makes you thinner, helps keep the skin healthy. I believe only once the whole law with false advertising passed ads like that stopped being so open, now they have to try it more secretively, subverting it with pop culture pictures, movies, anything they can really. It's just advertising when it comes down to it
Soldiers used to get issued cigarettes in their rations.
Forget these inventions...Sliced bread in a plastic bag at your local store is the greatest invention ever...
Fire wasn't just useful for heat, it kept predators at bay and also began the revolution of cooking food making it easier to digest and contributed to the growth of our brains.
Why no Obama care
Ivan Tablas More like Obama I don't care. :D
Because he's just ripping off medi care
Ivan Tablas because the NHS is free...
Obama care is a raise in tax to pay for people who don't pay their taxes and can't pay for their healthcare.
I feel like Alan Turing should be awarded for number 9, just a personal opinion, love ur channel
6:20 : The Honda F20C engine - a good choice to be shown as an example for combustion engines. :D
I FUCKING LOVE THIS CHANNEL. normal channels would just say in their 5 minute videos ''yeah electricity'' goes on to the next thing, but this guy explains it in depth ;D
Your elocution and articulation are getting better and better and you look so nice
:) Thank you Thoughty2 for being an entertaining and interesting channel
thanks for such an amazing compilation
Worlds next "huge" inventions would be
1. Faster than light travel (exploration of space)
2. Portable nuclear power (or some other more powerful energy source. This will be needed if we ever want to have flying cars like in star wars, jet packs, light sabers, and most other futuristic devices).
Hey thoughty2 here, from 8yrs ago
UA-cam is a time machine
Greetings from 2023😊
Came to comment on Edison, glad to see many people beat me to it :)
The butane lighter and matches are two of the greatest inventions ever , think how hard a fire is to start without them
it’s pretty hard to light my blunt with a flint and steel tbh
I was programming a website while watch this, what a coincidence!
you might want to tell your editor that the power stations that were put in during the "combustion engine out dated steam " thing was on are actually still run on steam .. nuclear and coal power stations use steam to spin the turbines to create the power.
Glad to see the Printing Press on here.
What race has made the most important inventions that changed the world e.g. engine, mass production, computer, internet, electric, telephone, radar, airplanes, trains, morse code, space flight, medicine, medical advancements etc?
3:22 Running out of water and die at the sea😂🤣
The ball point pen, various types of radios, the television, the camera, the match, the lamp.
This is what I call a pure analysis
There was an ancient text that taught readers how to use two lodestone compasses to communicate large distance before any sort of radio or telegraph
funny that at 4:01 you show a video of long tail boats in Krabi, Thailand to demonstrate use of a compass. but they don't need or use one as it's all line of sight navigation there
The reason wheels where not invented until quite late was due to the fact they where not a solution to any problems at the time. Basically there where not any roads, or practical implications for them. It was only when long established paths where wheel accessible, it became a great solution.
Ok, so what about that clickbait thing in the thumbnail? I would think that being able to smoke in the rain was a monumental achievement in mankind's development.
i love how the thoughty2 logo still has the suit even though you have stopped wearing it
#bringbackthesuit
How could you not put AC (Alternating Current) on the list! Tesla made the modern world by making AC, this HEAVILY used today in just about everything that is electronics. Anyway, great video as usually and keep up the work! =3
Fire - > more energy from food - > more available survival options -> more advanced social structure - > Us lot.
Surely the invention of literacy is more important than printing. Suddenly you can learn a whole person's gained knowledge in just a few days; it surely advanced humanity more rapidly than any other invention.
thank you for this awesome video for this to be a very well known topic ☺
It was not the discovery of fire that was a big chance, but the control over the fire that was the cause for the big chance
My list: Metallurgy, glass, writing, farming, roads, science, math, computers, religion, money
Hold on a minute,
1. There is no link between the difference engine and an electronic computer, the people at Bletchley during the war deserve some credit for that.
2. Tesla deserves credit for making the national grid possible
