Pippa and Sam Bahadur are based on the same timeline of 1971 war against Pakistan. The background of this war is important because of the geographical significance.
When India was divided in 1947 and Pakistan was created, Pakistan had 2 regions: West Pakistan, the current land which is known as Pakistan and East Pakistan, the land which is now Bangladesh. East Pakistan is next to India’s state of West Bengal.
East Pakistan mostly had Bengali people and they have a very similar culture to India’s West Bengal apart from the religion. East Pakistan had more influence on the political and economic side of their country. When the people in East Pakistan (the bengalis) voted for a local party who always advocated a separate nation because of cultural and linguistic reasons from the West Pakistan, its leader was Jailed by Pakistani army. Which started a revolution in east Pakistan. As Pakistani army tried to suppress this, India in association with the east Pakistani revolutionaries fought a war against Pakistan army. And eventually won it. Thus, Bangladesh was formed and the east Pakistan leader who was jailed (Shaikh Mujibur Rahman, also known as Bangabandhu which means friend of Bengal) became the first President of Bangladesh.
Pippa takes its name from an incident surrounding tank PT-76 (Plavayushchiy tank, ~ Soviet amphibious light tank that was introduced in the early 1950). The Indian Army was not familiar with this equipment or fighting in river based terrain. Designed like a boat with a three-man crew (driver, commander/gunner, loader), the tank was allotted to 45 Cavalry after the 1965 war. Deployed in the East, it was conducting a demonstration for troops to display its amphibious potential. The troops witnessing were mostly from Punjab. A JCO, standing next to a mike, expressed his amazement on watching the tank floating on water, a sight he could co-relate with a ghee tin bobbing in the village pond; his enthusiasm & amazement at what he witnessed made him call out with joy: 'Pippa tair reha ve!' The mike had not been switched off so many spectators burst into laughter in the middle of the presentation. General & other officers who joined in, soon converted ‘Pippa’ into military lexicon & a code word for the Regiment. PT-76 was a major battle winning factor in 1971 war. It served its role of movement across the riverine terrain to surprise & shock the enemy.

In 1971 , When India waged war against Pakistan , PM Gandhi wanted attack on Pakistan as soon as possible but Field Marshall Manekshaw postponed war just because rivers flood like ocean during rainy season.
Field Marshall was right. Why to risk lives of soldiers unnecessarily, if India could win war with less causalities.

This film wasn't produced by Amazon, it was sold to Amazon after being stuck in limbo for a long period of time. This movie did not interest the distributors that much because it does not have any established names associated with it. Ishaan Khatter and Priyanshu Painyuli are good actors but not 'stars', they don't have any commercial value, people won't run towards the theatres listening to their name. It's teaser was released more than a year back, but you guys didn't even react to it, which says clearly that you guys are not too different from the Indian viewers.
