  • Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic make up the Aussie pop-guitar duo Royel Otis. They're currently in the middle of a sold-out national tour, before they head to North America for a month of shows.
In this chat with Tom Tilley, Royel and Otis talk about living the rock star life on tour, the process behind their debut album Pratts and Pain, and why they initially didn't want to do live performances.
The duo also reveal why they were so unsure about covering Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 2001 hit Murder on the Dance Floor for Triple J's Like a Version- which has since gone viral with more than 7 millions views on Instagram.

An interview that feels effortless shows the amount of prep that went into this Tom. Well done, love these guys.

My goodness you do a great job Tom. Your experience in CL and having done Like a Version with them was an added bonus. Royel & Otis are so likeable and I'm definitely exploring their back catalogue after this interview. 10/10

Definitive proof that not showing Royel’s face is intentional.

anytime they get asked how they met they're unable to give a proper clear answer lmfao it's so weird and awkward for no reason

The way I take it is they don’t want to tell the real story and just make up on the spot random stories. I find it pretty funny. Perhaps it’s true maybe it is a bit awkward but no matter what you listen intently if it makes sense or not.
