My remap A200d has 230bhp 500nm torque. It does 0-60mph 6 secs using personal sports mode. Still does 60mpg on the easy side. Not bad for a 2.0ltr diesel.
Remapped 420cdi @ +900Nm works fine, true. It's just that MB certifies their 7G for 760 or 800Nm continuous torque without failure, but as it is MB it can handle more ;)
On winter mode it starts with 2nd gear,look how it accererates when the rpm go up,so it's not a genuine test ;) who had a car like this know how the enormous torque feels like :)
Older 5g gearboxes causes problems even on stock 400 cdi. After remap even more. Can't handle so much torque (stock transmission) for a long time. However, newer 7g tronic seems to handle 760Nm continuous torque without any failure.
Cees is wright! If your temp drops at idle there is something wrong with your sensor or the regulator (im not sure if the english translation is wright). The loosers are those who floor the pedal with cold diesels. Remember that your oil temp doesn't get that fast on temps as your cooling-fluid. But hey, its your wallet! Not mine..haha.

its enough warm for the engine.... 50 c is good, i drive cold engine often, i just wait minute or two to let the carter pump the oil to the motor, thats enough. In winter you may want be less harsh to your motor but in summer you can rev to limiter after 5 minutes of motor working, thats not big deal, i have 4 banger 1.6liter motor and i do it all the time, i has 270k kilometers and still going strong, just change the oil every 10 thousand kilometers, filters and you are good

@McDuncun I am thinking of remapping the ECU to get some 300hp and some insane torque. Some people say it is fine and some say it will radically shorten the life of the timing chain, transmission, injectors.. but in the spring I will do that anyway.
@vindicator2008 i am in no way a engineer or a mechanic but i would certainly worry about things like dual mass flywheel because its a terrible contraption by itself but unfortunately it's the way to keep vibrations down and make a diesel "luxury" ... when that goes transmission can suffer too... but if this one's a "proper" mercedes im sure it should be able to handle things...

Kinda good, but I definitely expected more out of 250hp diesel. My '87 Celica would be able to keep up to ~180 km/h, with 152hp and approximately 1/4 of torque.

It's an 1800kg car and the bmw M550d is 1900kg and can do 0-100km in 4.7 seconds and doing it all in 33mpg. now spare me the bs. this is a lame excuse of a car/engine.

The choice is yours but I still think that Mercedes was modest in the power output of that engine... They push 500nm out of 2.1L diesels these days...

Its a diesel, when it stand still on idle the temp is sinking pretty much! When you floor it... it starts to rise to normal! So it is impossible for you to now what temp the engine has! All youtube loosers ho think they now anything about an engine complain over coldrevs! Looser

7G-tronic transmission is extremely durable. They can actually handle 900+nm fine, even in the long run. It's been tested ^^

It comes up fast because the engine was cold. He shouldn't even be flooring it till it reaches 80ºC

strange, they couldn't take 7G in CLS 55 AMG because of 700Nm tq but it was in S420 and was doing very well
