    Hi Kevin, thanks for the great video. I recommend everyone ensure there ScanGuage3's are connected to there WIFI networks and updated to the the latest firm ware version currently 1.18. Mine was at 1.13 and would not display oil pressure...However after updating firmware now I can monitor oil pressure.

    Thanks for the Videos Kevin! I already had a SG3 for monitoring Trans temps and after your videos setup the fuel trims. Holy moly, 25 for long term fuel trim and 49 for short term. I wanted to turn it off as the numbers were so high I didn't want to see them! Put in a new MAF and bam, numbers read a total of 10 now. Thank you. going to look at your other Videos as my electric fans don't seem to come on till 217 degrees causing me to hit 230 coming into Austin NV. 03 P32 with the 8.1 52k miles

    Yes... This scan gauge from Linear Logic can be a real asset to an RVer. With 3 screens each having 9 gauges you are in a Data rich environment. There are lots of other features tha Kevin will cover in future.

    Thanks for the time you take to make these videos, I had a fuel pump going out but did not know it. It would set a knock sensor code now and then, but after the pump stopped working and I replaced it the code is gone. I guess I got lucky not to damage the engine.

    Sounds like a belt squeal . You can hear every rotation. I’d try some belt spray and see if that eliminates it. If that’s not it , maybe a bearing on a tensioner or ac clutch

  • @GT-mn3bx
    @GT-mn3bx Рік тому +1

    Keep in mind, no coolant may only read the steam temp in a sudden loss in your scenario. A hot engine will lose power and start knocking real quick. Refrain from standing on the throttle to compensate. Also, a lean condition creates audible knock. Brains protects an engine real well. Most people just floor it until it seizes or something real catastrophic happens.

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  Рік тому

      Thank you for contributing I know what you mean 10 years back I could hear the pinging while going up a hill. it was the MAF... But most people I talk to after running lean say they had no warning at all. It maybe from all the noise the radiator fan produces that they cant hear the pinging.

    Greetings friend, wondering if this will work for 1998 chevy 7.4 in my rv

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  Рік тому +1

      I got the reply from the manufacture
      Hi Kevin,
      It will. Anything 1996 or newer gasoline vehicle sold in the United States has to be OBDII compliant. It should report the fuel trims, and for the GM specific XGauges It will likely be similar to your 8.1. It may not report Oil Pressure, but Transmission Temp should be there.

Also, you changed your thermostat to 130 I believe. What should the reading be for an original thermostat? Cheers and thanks in advance! Fellow Owner JB PS mine is the 8.1 vortex workhorse as well.

    Also, Kevin, you mentioned that the fuel trim numbers may be higher with Banks modification. I recently purchased my 2001 Fleetwood Southwind with a P32 chassis. It did not have complete paperwork of previous engine services. I suspect that it has some Banks modification because it has a faded decal on the body that looks like it says "Banks" and it has two exhaust pipes on the passenger side. How can I tell what Banks modifications, if any, have been done. And again, how does that affect fuel trim readings? (or was it mass flow?)

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  Рік тому

      There are different Banks systems see link below, With the Banks system installed you may be flowing more air than a stock engine, if you flow more air then you must flow more fuel to match. So that's why your fuel trim numbers could be as much as 15% long term and that would be considered normal but keep a close eye on it because you max out around 25% that's when engine damage may occur. bankspower.com/collections/compatible-products/year_2005_make_GM-Motorhome_model_W24_engine_8-1L-Gas

    I understood about half (or less) of your explanation of monitoring parameters (my fault not yours). Do you know why Allison 6spd temp cannot be monitored.....could it be because there is no signal being sent by the trans? Could a sending unit be installed in one of the lines that flows thru the trans cooler? Thanks for your videos.

    That's great except, you're not going to get 400k miles out of a motorhome. The box and all it's contents will have fallen off or exploded long before that.
    Heck two videos ago your rig was trying to grow it's own rear entry gate. Let's face it Workhorse fans, it's time to move on to the Godzilla motor or go diesel.
