Guys, you have a really good house, that needs a lot of love. It is a wonderful structure. I have seen videos of other British people in Bulgaria, filming a family that is there for a while. They shared that they were not happy about the outside stairs to the second floor but now they don't even think about it. So register with a doctor as health is important, get ready for the winter as you need to stay warm and crack on. And please, don't forger to ask the locals for help when you need it.
Thank you 😊🙏 We're finding good and bad parts as we go along, but having seen other properties, we realise that some are in a lot worse state. We feel very lucky to have found a property that is in a fairly decent condition. Thank you for the advice, it's good to know. 👍
@@LillaHusVanlife it is a gem! Please research well, I also am not sure if you will need a septic tank, usually Bulgarian villages were densely populated 30odd years ago, and main system might be in place.
The adventure is working on your place turning into what you like. Letting sheep into your garden is part of country life in these places. You get on with your neighbours and they look after your house when your not there. Good luck to you guys..

Thank you so very much for the good advice there Svetoslav.. Looking good guys I've got this joy of cleaning and cutting to do end of the month once we move over thank god its coming into winter and cooler weather 😂
You got plenty of space in the outbuildings, so keep all the stuff there, which you have no need for. In about 20 to 30 years, guys will be willing to pay quite a surplus for it. Ask me me how I know. Another observation: the living quarters of your lot look very charming from the outside. Really something to fall in love with! But this does not match with with the rooms inside at all. In my very humble opinion, it would be the the ultimate task to bring the room arrangement and style to match the outside. If this makes sense. Cheers guys, and all the best!
To be fair, a lot of the things that were in the house when we first went to look have been taken. The owner came back for sentimental things and anything that might have been worth anything. Some cupboards have just been stuffed with old rags and clothes. We'll see how things progress, but if we can make it more homely, then that's a start.. Thanks ever so for your comment 😊🙏
Hola from Spain. A great property, lots of potential & space.. No advice apart from , forget curtains, just invest in roller blinds for now. Keep soft furnishings to a minimum , especially during summer months. Good luck, and enjoy. It will soon feel more like home with very little work. X ♥️

I recomend you check among this old things ,you can find some gold coin or some jewels and it is a adventure to search in this old stuff,to motivate you more i will tell you that old grandmas arround bulgaria keep coins from many generations before them and some of the coins are ancient not old, even i watched about old lady that gave her grandchildren some gold coins she kept in the wardrobe and one of them was very, very rare roman gold coin from emperor that mintet just a few and these are the most expensive ,the coin cost a fortune ,hundreds of thousands of dollars
The house looked like it might hold things of interest when we first visited but the owner came back for sentimental things afterwards. Anything of value was taken including fridges, log burners, electrical items, books, some clothing and even anything steel. We have found one brass coin, but it's worth around 20 lev.
There wouldn't be a truck queue at the border if Bulgaria (and Romania) were members of land Schengen, for now only by air, hopefully soon we will be also admitted fully into Schengen and all these truck or car queues on the borders (with Greece and Romania, at least) would remain in the past.
One day it will come for the trucks Vladimir..already we noticed that the borders were more relaxed for cars. We only had to pull in at the Bulgarian border because we're foreign nationals..the guards were simply glancing at people's passports if they had Romanian or Bulgarian plates and then letting them drive through.
Thank you Dan 👍 As far as we're aware, Donna, John and Josie still have their place here but they're currently stuck in the UK. Hopefully they'll be back soon.
I hope you didn't throw away the old items like books, blankets, etc. Those items should be preserved. They are part of Bulgaria's heritage and history. You should have donated them to local museum, library or gave them to someone. This is a note for everybody moving to an old home.
Most of the books had been taken away by the previous owner along with other things of interest. Any clothes we were left with that are good condition are being offered to local people. Thanks for your concern.
Get of your high horse, and leave the notes that actually can be of some use🤦🏼♀️😆 If you payed attention you would find out foreigners put more effort in preserving national heritage found in their bought houses while moving into new country than locals do. After all previous owners was Bulgarians and they have left behind all the stuff new owners are now taking care off.

I am curious how you communicate with the local villagers when you don't speak Bulgarian...are you using translation services for various government requirements like taxes, real estate, business registration or you already have local friends for help?
We have been picking up some of the basics, but a lot is done via Google translate at the moment. Even the locals use it when they want to chat. For anythng official, we have friends who help.
The condition of the house is not bad and it is build with a style, its not just a random place with four walls as comunists period houses were made,i bet it belonged to some rich person before the comunism and they took it away from the owners, thats what comunists did with inteligent and rich people and if they dont kill them (they killed 30 000 doctors ,architects, profesors, scientists etc ,the flower of the nation)they send them into exile into the country side,i watch other people from the UK they bought two houses arroun d veliko tarnovo and both are build with taste and are very beautiful, but not in condition as good as yours.....godspeed
We don't know much about the history of the place, but it certainly has a style about it which doesn't show from the outside. Once we stepped into the entrance it looked grand, despite the years of neglect.. Thank you 😊🙏
Usually these houses come to the market after a death and the nearest relatives take things that matter to them..what's left is usually small things of no real value to who ever is selling the property.. The way of life unfortunately.
Not worried about the UK economy as all countries have their issues really.. But being out here we have more freedom to travel, better weather, no one's bothered by the fact we've been living in a van.. The food prices are comparable with the UK with some things cheaper and some more expensive.. It's not for everybody tho, which we can see, but if it doesn't work out, at least we've tried.. 👍
Hi both Can i ask the name of the estate agent you used as he was english and am looking for an agent that is easy to communicate with about buying a farm in Bulgaria Congratulations on your loving home

@@LillaHusVanlife Hi what

Probably the children of the previous owners of the house live now in the UK or the US....
The daughter of the owners died and the house went to her husband, who sold it..

How exciting! That truck queue was loooooong!
I know Wendy..I don't know how they stay calm waiting for so long.. 🤷🏻♂️ 💜
@@LillaHusVanlife me neither!
Thank you 😊🙏
they selling houses with their personal items in it?or something bad happen to all family and nobody left to remove them?
Usually these houses come to the market after a death and the nearest relatives take things that matter to them..what's left is usually small things of no real value to who ever is selling the property.. The way of life unfortunately.
Why you left uk ?
I wached videos explaining how bad the uk economy is, but food is cheper and salaries are higher.
Hi both
Can i ask the name of the estate agent you used as he was english and am looking for an agent that is easy to communicate with about buying a farm in Bulgaria
Congratulations on your loving home
Hi and thank you 🙏
Lee was showing us around on behalf of Ideal Homes BG. Ves speaks good English too, so it's great to be able to chat if your Bulgarian is minimal.
I suppose I will have to get a passport, best regards BJ :)
Apparently it will be needed to escape the UK Beej.. 🤔👍❤️
What's the beej?
What did you pay? seeing anyone else buying a farm for 7500 (From Bournemouth to Bulgaria) youtube
They've got a bargain then.! Nice one..
I have a pinned comment on the video where we first saw the house with a rough price if you need..
Different areas and the state of each property brings a huge range of prices.
Hi what area is this and if it’s not rude how much did you pay for it and did you have to create a company t9 buy it
All the very best look forward to watch8ng your adventures
Billy
Hi Billy, and thank you 😊
I put a pinned comment at the top of the comments list which lets folk know the cost, which there are lots of opinions about..lol
Our place in in the VT region of Bulgaria near Pavlikeni. As far as the company bit, you will need to have one to buy any land as a foreign national, yes.
There are people who can assist you with this if necessary 👍 Hope that helps
Where is the house located? And how much did you pay for it?
