Finally someone mentioned Return to Oz! Would be on my top 4 too, such a underrated, creepy as hell movie
I have seen some clips that look dark and awesome. More appealing than Wizard of Oz.

The Johnny B. Goode scene absolutely has a purpose in that story. It is a payoff to a setup in the first 10 minutes of the movie. When Marty auditions for the talent show, he is turned away for being “too darn loud” (Thanks Huey Lewis!) After this, Jennifer tells Marty not to care what other people think and to send his tape to the record label. (I love the 80s) But Marty replies, “I don’t think I could take that kind of rejection” ( ua-cam.com/video/eqwrUUAMrdY/v-deo.html) We then learn that his father struggled with that same fear of rejection in regards to people reading his science fiction stories. Something Marty never even knew about his father because, like Marty, he also struggles with putting himself out there. ( ua-cam.com/video/cZ7XXrRhXgI/v-deo.html )
Fast-forward to Enchantment Under the Sea. Marty has to face his fear of rejection by playing guitar to save himself from being erased. Once George kisses her after sticking up for himself, Marty is forever changed. Their love story is forever changed. Marty still has to change and learn something. This is when Marty plays Johnny B. Goode. We now show that he has conquered the struggle established before we ever saw a Time Machine. Marty plays that song for himself because that is the Journey he needs to overcome. The icing on the cake; George also learns this through Marty when he becomes an author of science fiction novels-the stories he would never share with anyone.

Yes. One of the best original scripts ever written for a movie. No wonder it was nominated for an Oscar because of it

These are great! Is there still no way for me to watch The People's Joker? I've known about it for years after it got pulled from that film festival, but I think it's had a resurgence lately in popularity?
